The Mist has one of the most fascinating and intriguing monsters in a horror, I'd consider this film as one of my all time favorites, even though the ending was extremely heartbreaking.
In the book they just hide out in a store and rest fornthe night i think and it ends. I suppose that's when the army comes in to save the day, that's what i like to think. And yeah, the ending kills my soul
I wish the T.V. show followed the movie more than being a quasi-interpretation of the book and Kings' other more supernatural mythos. The creatures being more like animals instead of them being supernatural terrors was far more interesting.
Now I don’t wanna sound weird but I’m terrified of the Massive Acid shooting Spiders. I dunno something about Massive Acid shooting Spiders make me wanna crawl into a Corner and pray
One of the most terrifying but beautiful of stories, with every creature having its own mannerisms and each more deadly then the last, and with the right amount left vague for the imagination to fill in(are these young or old, how would they change in reaction to being on earth(if they would)), as well as how humanity would have to change(now knowing of such a grand threat), always reminded me of Lovecraft
@@bryan.p4072 Lovecraftian creatures weren't just monsters, they were ungodly abominations with deity-like powers. These monsters were oridinary biological creatures who were triving on a different planet.
It still shares a lot of lovecraftian aspects. The fear of the unknown. The grey widowers were definitely intelligent and very much malicious and evil. It is hinted that these monstrous abominations are from the toad h dark, the place between spaces in Stephen Kings universe. This is also where Pennywise the clown comes from. This is what gave the story and movie it’s lovecraftian feel. Oh, and the fact that the door to this dimension was opened by us. Messing with powers and things we have no idea or comprehension of how to control or contain.
In Dark Tower it's explained a bit that the creatures live in a void between realities called "Todash space". The Crimson King in the series used these creatures at one point.
Not sure about this, as we can see that the creatures' homeworld must have gravity which is identical to Earth's, oxygene-based atmosphere, and day-nite transition.
@@hammerite6418 This is exactly what my headcanon for these creatures is, since it's a far more interesting and plausible origin than them being just extradimensional monsters with no greater background or depth than practically just being demons.
Nope they definitely come from a planet, much more oxygen on their planet given their size. It seems reptiles and mammals never got the chance to evolve on their planet or they’re just tiny creatures. Given the diversity of the creatures they definitely have a ton of environments on their planet. And hella mist
I just watched the movie.... the ending.... no words.. I had to force myself to remember its a fictional movie, that is how serious and potentially traumatic it was. Hands down, emotionally compelling wise. This is the best movie I have ever watched.
I love how unique they made the monsters for the movie, they each had their own reasons as to why they were scary instead of being all built off the same design with different variations
The most interesting creature by far is the giant at the end. It's been nearly 20 years since I read the book but that line about no creature on earth ever being that big is one of the details that sticks with me. Even though the creature shows no malice unlike the others it is very cleverly used by Stephen king to show the reader how hopeless the situation is. He saying without saying, that humans have no place in a world where something like that lives. I don't think that the movie made a good interpretation of the creature. It would have been better had it not shown the entire thing as the book does not.
As someone who did not read the book but did watch the movie recently, I can say that the movie's behemoth DID have the intended effect for me. I immediately knew "Oh, shit. It gets *THIS* bad." When the lore dropped in the movie about a portal to another dimension, I was like "Oh shit. If this was just aliens, or escaped lab experiments, this would be fixable. This is no longer fixable." A beautifully timed reveal. But then, when you think "This cannot be fixed", your next thoughts drift to "Well, at the very least, maybe humanity can survive, and coexist." That's when the behemoth drops in and affirmatively shows "Oh, no, not at all. Wherever these things are coming from is a world that absolutely will annihilate us all." I think it handled it very well.
That was my favorite scene from the movie, as others have said it implies that there are bigger things just like it out there especially since they encountered it with just one tank of gas. I loved how it shook the ground by just walking
@@carso1500 Of course. The unwinnable scenario was if the portal remained open and the invaders were that dangerous. Since the portal closed, killing a few behemoths is no big deal.
I find movies that are filled with many different looking creatures that make those creatures act like real animals extremely fascinating. It gives the animals a real feeling to them.
This film is so underrated... I watched it in my early teens and found myself fascinated by the monsters (hence, my love for Lovecraft was born), and that ending is one of the most painful and raw moments in movie history
So a couple of things to note: In the last video describing the movie I noticed that the Military came by and either killed or burnt the monster and helped clear up the mists. This was an amazing detail. Why? I've always hated the notion that just because something is not from earth that they are immune to our weapons and technology. I love in this move how even though these things are increasingly scary and dangerous as hell they still have to follow the same rules or life and evolution that our own dimension does. Example: The spider was shot and immediately killed because as scary as it was the flesh was just as fragile as ours. The flies when they bit a human it cause our bodies to react to whatever was in the flies saliva or whatever it was to react and kill us as its likely so foreign that our immune system have no chance of fighting it. These were also easily killed as well, and they were attracted to the light as well. The Biology of the dinosaur looking bird was also apparent because it could easily see through or at least used some time of eco location to easy catch one of the super flies and eat it. The Legs were also designed similar to be able to grab there prey and kill while being able to land and walk around if necessary. The Wings were an evolutionary advantage as the creature could fly more easily throughout the air with no issue's. The creature also had eyes that it used to see the people in the store and react to the light, not to mention a tongue. The Giant Creatures with Massive Legs I don't think would have been able to survive because Science tells us that if a creature is that large on our planet that it would likely collapse under its own weight which is why we never evolved to be so much larger. I mean even the biggest dinosaurs were nowhere near that large. Even those biggest dinosaurs had the hardest time moving because of their size and the amount of weight they had to carry. Basically what I am saying is that it looks like Evolution of DNA works similar in there dimension as it does ours. I really liked how this showed us the very primitive nature of man. Once we are faced with situations that we can't understand why we show how dangerous and selfish we can be?
That one scene at the end of the movie, the many stories high creature called Behemoth. It's very size makes it dangerous, I've liked to have seen the airstrikes they had to launch against it. It was so large the very bottom of it's leg were ripping out telephone poles as it walked
Can't wait to see him dive into Attack on Titan. I started to see the whole "The titans are us" plot twist coming when Eren turned into a titan for the first time. Did NOT see the whole Nazi genocide twist coming in the manga. And I was very glad that in the end Reiner and Bertholt were shown to be just as scared of their government as Eren, Mikasa and Armin were of theirs. In the end though, Zeke did the worst possible thing for retaining the loyalty of his attacking Titan shifters. He allowed them to humanize their targets in their mind. And its beautiful in a sad way that this is what eventually became Reiner's undoing. In the end, you can't hate either boy for what they'd done, even though their actions killed thousands of people. And you can't blame Eren for his rage either. I just hoped they'd change the anime plot and let Ymir stay. Figures they'd make it so that the one gay couple in the story is separated traumatically.
I only just watched this movie. The character actions, interactions and motives are quite realistic. The way everything played out in the supermarket is exactly how I think it would if this were to happen in real life.
I wonder if you can talk about what material Thanos's sword could've had in Endgame, could it have been made of Uru? Since it was able to cut through proto adamantium laced with vibranium (Cap's shield)
We know he went to the dwarves who made Mjolnir in order to have the gauntlet made, so it wouldn't be surprising if he had his sword made at the same time or even before (Possibly how he knew about them for the gauntlet).
Uru is the only thing I can imagine would be able to do it. It must also have more powerful enchantments than Mjölnir as Thor's hammer hasn't been able to put a dent in Cap's shield.

Most of the creatures resemble the ones Roland and his tet see during their ride on Blaine the mono while crossing the waste lands. Also, the larger creatures, like the behemoth, look like the ones that reside in the Prim. It would be interesting to find out from Stephen King if the portal opened by the Army’s Project Arrowhead led either to the wastelands or the Prim itself.
He should definetly read the Manga to have a more bigger understanding of the world of AoT cause you get to see way more interesting things that arnt in the anime yet. And undestand what's truly happening. It pretty much starts out like a zombie series like walking dead but with giant zombies instead of human sized ones. And believing the last of humanity is inside the giant fortified fortress with giant walls to protect the people. Only ti have the story flipped (SPOILERS) and find out the people were lied to and they are not the last of humanity. And that the Titan that surround them and are attacking them is less of an infestation and more like biological warfare, so less walking dead and more like resident evil. And they ate being attacked by the other nations that live out in the world outside. So it's no longer a story about humanities struggle to survive, but is now re ealed as a tale of war.
Niyat, I finally got that sci-fi thriller, Underwater on Blu Ray yesterday. I only watched the making of the film, and it's pretty impressive. I have this film on DVD and when I first saw it, the ending was a punch in the gut, like something out of The Twilight Zone.

This couldn't have come out at a better time. I'm currently revisiting everything mist related movie, book, show(which is both borring and terrible and the only connection it has to the film is the title). Thank you for this video.
The only thing I learned from this movie: When trying to survive an apocalypse, eliminate all religious Karens immediately by any means necessary. Edit: Spelling
The thing is at 3:40 with the part about the neurotoxin causing suffocation, that technically isn't correct since as you said, it causes swelling and the woman that got stung got stung in the neck, so it's pretty clear the swelling was so bad that it was more than likely blocking up her wind pipe.
I bought this movie at a garage sale when I was 12 I had no idea what I was in for I just thought the cover looked cool…safe to say it taught me a lot about how different types of people will react in moments of crisis
What I've learned: Always expect the unexpected Avoid the crazy crowd or at least pretend to be one of them if you are in the minority Avoid small towns which were former Millitary bases engaging in some cutting edge form of science which would open wormholes to hellish dimensions When the mist first appears; get you and your loved ones out of that hellscape... Please add more useful info as necessary. From the last Survivor...I think...pass it on to the next survivor....peace
5:15 "Unlike other creatures in the film, the tentacles would decompose into a sizziling pool of black liquid within seconds after being seperated from the atmospheric conditions of the mist it needed to survive." Oh boy.... First: The tenctacles were reaching far into the loading bay that didn't have any mist for over 1 minute without any sign of decomposing. Second: When chopped off from its tentacle, the "mouth" and rest of what was chopped off lay in the loading bay for over 10 minutes without decomposing. Third: The tentacle decomposed ONLY after being poked with a broom and its nerves activated and wriggled around for a while. Suggesting that decomposing happened after the cells ran out of energy, similar to how frogs legs "dance" when salt is poured on them, but only for a short time before the cells ran out of energy. My analysis of this specific thing, is that the tentacles disintegrate/decompose rather quickly when the cells that make up the body are depleted of energy. Wether that is down to the anatomy of the creatures biomass requiring constant energy to stay as a solid form (which would explain its rather aggressive pursuit of any possible food source), or some other fiction reason, I don't know. But what I do know is that the sentance uttered at 5:15 is totally wrong. Otherwise, good video!
Or... you know.... the movie director decided to save up on special effects costs. Something that was mentioned multiple times throughout the video. On top of that, filmscomicsexplained seemed to have been quoting from the book.

Becasue the same thing can happen that happened here. Faced with the unexplainable people begin to listen to her believing shes telling the truth that God wants them to sacrifice people. So i say if someone starts doing that, sacrifice them instead of some innocent person.
@@ThomasBravoGaming But what if sacrifice is needed. Even if you sacrifice them, you will to sacrifice other.
@@htoodoh5770 9/10 times it's not needed and it's some people trying to push their beliefs on others, psycopaths trying to gain control over the situation so they can be in control and do whatever they want, or just crazy people that think survival of the fittest applies to any and all situations. So logically if they suggest sacrifice sacrifice them, since they came up with the idea they won't be mad that you'd do it to them, right?
If sacrifice is needed you will notice it quite quickly without needing a human being, that also has no idea what the hell is going on, to tell you
@@htoodoh5770 You would have to provide evidence that sacrifice would do anything, otherwise you’d just sacrifice someone for nothing.
Been waiting for your analysis on the creatures of this movie.
I discovered your content about half a year ago, and i enjoy your editing style as well as the approach you take with your content. It's analytical to a degree but enjoyably informative. I really like and appreciate what you do
This is my favorite Stephen King movie
I love the book
Arlo Jeremy the ending was awesome it was a horror movie after all, not every movie needs a happy ending.
I gotta tell you man , even if I didn’t remotely care about the content you’re talking about your narration, getting to the point, but giving adequate clips and edits is just... 👌 Easily changes my mind on them before. Love your videos so much
The creature on the thumbnail looks like some type of Eldridge horror
If this channel covers anime, life is nearly complete! Given the name, I'd LOVE LOVE to hear/see videos of you reviewing the works of Junji Ito
Damn...
I really want another Mist movie~
A sequel would be awesome, I agree wit' ya :) That piece of turd Spike TV made wasn't even about the Mist, just some crap with identical title.
I loved the message at the end. It was so well written, paced, and just extremely ballsy. "Just because you think you have things 'more figured out' than the batshit crazy person, doesn't actually mean you have things figured out. You are not immune to panic."
The film's ending was so heartwrenching, but the whole thing was an experience! Awesome video Niyat! I hope quarantine is going well for you ☺️
The Mist was great! A terribly underrated film.
morlockmeat I agree
You know I saw the thumbnail without reading the title and thought it was a video on the tryinids from Warhammer 40K
I’ve been waiting so long for this!
The Waste Lands has no white mist, so it's unlikely.
I like how the behemoth is just wandering around not openly attacking or hurting anyone. But it's sheer size makes its dangerous
I think they came from the Waste Lands that Roland, Eddie, Jake and Suzannah rode through on Blaine during Dark Tower 3.
That's an interesting theory I actually believe that.
I wish there was another movie like this. Imagine what special effects could do now with a proper budget.
Lack of imagination over good effects? Nan, let the mist remain unique and special. Less is far more.
Hey niyat, could I ask for a video on the head crabs from half life? I really love your videos. Keep up the good work
I was always REALLY curious *where* the mist monsters came from, thank you so much for satiating my curiosity!
Dudes must've came from a moist af world cuz all my manz be having a stroke the minute they step outta the mist 🤣
8:53, do OVERLORD!!! Thanks for the video!! See you later!! Stay safe.😉
One of my all time faves, a fabulous movie
Attack on Titan???
Anime Manga Explained
But its not finished yet
I love this movie and short story. I like that we both have a happy ending and a sad ending.
Niyat, I finally got that sci-fi thriller, Underwater on Blu Ray yesterday. I only watched the making of the film, and it's pretty impressive. I have this film on DVD and when I first saw it, the ending was a punch in the gut, like something out of The Twilight Zone.
Glad you enjoyed it!
My bro you honestly deserve more credit for all your hard work 🔥🔥🔥💯
I'm a simple man, I see FilmComicsExplained, I click
Finally I've wanted this video for ages!
The most terrifying monster is the evangelical lady.
She wasn't really evangelical. They even said it in the movie - she was too Old Testament. An Evangelical would have talked more about the New Testament and told people how this was a fulfillment of prophecy and the only escape would be to accept Jesus and repent. NOT BLOOD SACRIFICE.
Which is a pretty hateful aspect of the film, TBH.
@Reluctant Human I am an atheist but sheesh, reign back the religion bashing. You’ll find idiotic fanatics everywhere, religion in of itself is not a bad thing.
Its funny how people try to defend the evangelical Karen. I went to church school like a lot of Americans. I didn't know Christianity/Catholicism wanted people to act like they knew everything about God and to anoint themselves as saviors. 🤷♂️ Religion is brainwashing if applied incorrectly
@@The.Orange.Wizard Yeah that’s because King as well as a pervert is an anti-Christian d***. I think you and I both know that he and the film makers would never have done something similar to Islam or any other religion really.
the most perfect movie in depth explained channel ever.. other channels just summarized a whole movie and those channels sucks!!.. keep it up man!! 👍👍👍
Please do part 2 of Interstellar it’s been almost 2 years.
Thank you, thank you for this (and all your uploads!)!
This couldn't have come out at a better time. I'm currently revisiting everything mist related movie, book, show(which is both borring and terrible and the only connection it has to the film is the title). Thank you for this video.
Thanks for what you do man.
If they scared the Punisher, then im scared.
Can’t wait for all of the content!!
The only thing I learned from this movie: When trying to survive an apocalypse, eliminate all religious Karens immediately by any means necessary.
Edit: Spelling
S p e l l i n g
It is a must, to eliminate the super religious ones
Religion isn't the problem. Antisocial people are the problem
@@stupidandboot4507 true
Just want to say thank you for your videos. I'm such a nerd for the lore and creative back stories for creatures and other fictional series.
The thing is at 3:40 with the part about the neurotoxin causing suffocation, that technically isn't correct since as you said, it causes swelling and the woman that got stung got stung in the neck, so it's pretty clear the swelling was so bad that it was more than likely blocking up her wind pipe.
Well, don't forget that this is an otherworldy creature - its neurotoxin may behave differently than the species' we know.
I really would love Niyat to do a video on the Tyranids from 40k, like holy shit it'd be good!
Love this movie, also anyone else think it's bad ass that fallout4 Far Harbor DLC is based on this.
Man i just found your channel and I have to say your channel has a lot of great movies recommendations
HIIII
Love your vids
Loved this movie
One of my favorite Stephen King adaptations !! And love that Dark Tower reference !!
I bought this movie at a garage sale when I was 12 I had no idea what I was in for I just thought the cover looked cool…safe to say it taught me a lot about how different types of people will react in moments of crisis
YES! This was one of my favourite movies im so glad youre covering it :) notification gang
The lady's reaction words when they saw the scorpuons was haunting.
"Dear god look at those stingers"
Haven't been early to your video in ages😭
This one of the best horror films! Even to this day..I get a little nervous when I see a mist roll in.
The mist is literally Half Life 3 or The Seven Hour War or even 1187 or Gmod + with the 7 hour war
Lost Planet as well. Just without the battle mechs and the advanced tech.
The monsters were my favorite part of the movie.
I was born in 2007 and I used to watch this movie all the time when I was a toddler 😚✌🏽
PLEASE DO OVERLORD!! IT WAS SUCH A GOOD MOVIE!!!
What I've learned:
Always expect the unexpected
Avoid the crazy crowd or at least pretend to be one of them if you are in the minority
Avoid small towns which were former Millitary bases engaging in some cutting edge form of science which would open wormholes to hellish dimensions
When the mist first appears; get you and your loved ones out of that hellscape...
Please add more useful info as necessary.
From the last Survivor...I think...pass it on to the next survivor....peace
Did anyone else notice that the head of the arachnolobster looks a lot like a xenomorph?
Fun Theory: Cloverfield comes from the reality where The Mist originated
Is that true?
@@itzflacko3076 Nope
Cloverfield and the mist have the same vibe and eerie feeling that makes them so addicting to watch, i love this kind of horror
Man I wish there was more into lore of these creatures the mist is amazing
And here’s me thinking gangster killed Frank Castles family.
Brilliantly presented
5:15
"Unlike other creatures in the film, the tentacles would decompose into a sizziling pool of black liquid within seconds after being seperated from the atmospheric conditions of the mist it needed to survive."
Oh boy....
@@sargeantgamerful yes but as we all know the film differs from the book, and this should have been mentioned in the video
@@slinkerdeer It was, though.
I was about to sleep, its 2am but i have ben waiting for this! Yes!
Can you do a video about the 1988 John Carpenter movie "They Live"?
