I like how the military is actually competent here unlike in zombie movies, even though the monsters here are WAY worse than zombies
A two-stories tall lobster with pinchers? No biggie. A deadly swarm of aggressive spiders with acid webs? No biggie. A FUCKING BEHEMOTH? No biggie.
@@CarassiusAu You also forgot the tentacles
To be fair, all these monsters only came out of a single portal which was probably quickly closed again. And at the end of the day, they are just huge animals. Bullets and fire will make quick work of them. Zombies movies like to skip the "spread" part or quickly gloss over it, and get to the part where society already collapsed. Despite the fact that the military probably would have prevented things from getting that bad to begin with.
@@jns6320 Yeah right, just look at how the world handled Corona virus. You think the military would take control of a zombie virus?
@@Carlit0Tit0 Yeah I think so. Coronavirus is invisible, you can't shoot it. And you can't kill people for transmitting it or not wearing masks. A zombie virus is much easier to see and control. No one has problems with shooting zombies.

You will NOT be vaporized. He flamethrower is NOT a death ray laser plasma gun...
You'll died screaming and your lungs burning. Yeah.
And you'll DEFINITIVELY feel the heat!
Have you ever looked at archives film from the Vietnam war? smh
@Charles Lee Ray I'm not sure who told you that, but flamethrowers don't get anywhere near hot enough to vaporize a human.
@Charles Lee Ray flame throwers at a range of 10-15 metres are normally at around somewhere between 900-1100°c or 1652-2012°f while 20-30 metres is about 800°c or 1472°f
to completely vaporize a human till their bones with an open fire would take around 4-5 hours, but that to say if theres a continuous stream of it
normally during bunker and trench raids they'd do like little one taps to conserve fuel since these things eats alot of that, the flame thrower uses about half a galon when fired for more then 1-2 seconds
when in contact with the flames for just a few seconds the human body suffers from 3rd degree burns all around, feeling the pain for roughly 10-12 seconds until finally fainting. at this point the flames probably would have burned out, and if not treated a immediately then the person would have likely died a minute or 2 after they fainted, and yes healing and recovering from 3rd degree burns are possibly
@Charles Lee Ray Totally. I hate cooking over an open flame. Damn food keeps vaporizing.

Yeah in the book they actually escape. I love that ending. It's way crazier than the book.
@@marioguy6486 he kills his son. So I got what OP meant.
I believe that the Behemoth is actually used as a hive for most of the creatures seen in the film, the other creatures just use it’s body as a home for themselves, seeing that the Gray-Widowers lay eggs in living / formerly living organisms. As for the worms, they likely cling on to the ribs of the Behemoth until they are at their desired location in where prey are present.
My theory: The Behemoth is a non-living being. It is akin to the "walkers" in Star Wars, with "people" (from the other dimension) inside. The layout of their dimension is similar to ours, so it takes them a while before they realize they aren't in Kansas anymore. I say that what they opened, was a ZOO, and, The Behemoth is The Zookeeper, complete with food and shelter for the animals.

True predator.
She wasn't just religious. She was insane. There's a difference. Learn it and be well.
Gay Nippleplay she's both. a recipe for disaster at times like this...
*tips fedora*
@Black Lanner
The true predator is fear, not religion. Both religious and irreligious individuals can be engulfed in fear and both religious and irreligious individuals can be free of it.
GeorgiaIsOnMyMind religion does spread fear... they make ppl feel paranoid at the guilt of their sins, aka "ITZ R FALT TAT GOD HAZ PUNISHED US! REPENT NAOW SO WE AL WONT B DAM'D BY THE HOLY LURD 'N SAVOR!"...
the difference between a religious person and irreligious person in this scenario is that an irreligious person isn't bound by that paranoid fear, so that's one less thing for them to worry about vs a religious person spreading mumbo jumbo bs to cause mass hysteria and delusions in an already dire situation...
In the book the Behemoth's body is not described, only its legs are visible and the body is so high up that it disappears into the mist making it even more baffling just how huge this monster is.

I always remember the behemoth. I remember it larger than 240 ft, and it looks bigger. I imagine that, up on it's back, you'd find a whole biome, with something like trees and tons of other creatures that don't know any world other than the gently drifting back of this gargantuan monster. I love the point at which it shows up, as well. Everyone in the car can only be left with one impression: this is no longer your world.
In the novel, the Behemoth is even bigger. Stephen King wrotes that a blue whale would look like a trout to this meanie.
Can clearly see a Lovecraftian influence in here.
Did someone say *L O V E C R A F T I A N*
@Melody Lacquement The behemoth in the movie, yes.
In the novel, it isn't described like this, much more like a giant six legged dinosaur...
Lovecraftian doesnt mean tentacles tho. It means "fear of the unknown, fear of madness, fear of the unthinkable"

You know what’s really interesting about the tentacles from Planet X? The way they were animated and put into the movie. The director couldn’t get an animatronic to look as fluid as he wanted. So he got on a green sleeve and glove and did it himself! It gave it a more real look. There’s more evidence of directors or other film crew members using practical effects to give the movie a better look. Like using condoms full of blood and rupturing them above and elevator shaft to give a better look to a leg getting ripped off.

The behemoth always stuck with me when I read the novella and I liked the version in the movie but I think the coolest one which I hardly saw was the creature out in the parking lot that had the crab claws I wanted to actually see more of what it look like. As far as the mist show goes I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again even though it’s long past that show should never of been made the way it was it didn’t know justice and no honor to the movie or the novella.I was seriously hoping that it would spin a bunch of seasons and it would be more of a survival type of show like The Walking Dead with an extensive ad on of creatures from the missed that you would see as the show progresses but what they did to the show it was the worst thing possible and I struggled to even sit through all the episodes but I usually finish what I start and I promise you I will never start to watch the most show again unless it’s ever made the way it should have been

The end was pretty much black comedy, I actually lol'd. I liked the movie, but the end is seriously ridiculous: They just couldn't wait to suicide, even though they were apparently safe inside the car for a while... They attempted to escape with the car not only because of the lunatic christians, but also because they hoped for rescue somewhere out there. Out of gas? OMG hurry up with the bullets! Couldn't have been more lolzy if they pulled straws for who goes first ("Yessss! I WIN! Can't wait to get it first!")
I always laughed at the ending, I found it sad but I laughed for no reason. It might be because it would have been only a few minutes until he would have been saved. I just preferred the book ending of uncertainty really.
Admittedly I've never read the book, from what you say I assume they're just stuck in the mist and waiting to "see what happens" (similar to the ending in Carpenter's 'Thing')? That'd be much better of an ending than what we got in the movie - heck, any other ending would.

Creatures In The Mist Come Straight Out Of Kings Biggest Project "The Dark Tower!" So Cool To See What You Had To Imagine!
Something about the mist film and short show always leave me wanting more I need more from this series like what the army does to fight back etc. this series could be so much more but it is great regardless
My theory is that all of the mist creatures are from macroverse, the same universe where pennywise came from
Yeah that's not really a theory. It's in setting fact. Outright confirmed.
Pennywise tells in the novel that it is alone in the macroverse.
look, if i was a creature from the mist would i try to kill a guy who can litterly shape shift into everything and steal my soul by opening its mouth and making me float and uncousiin and habing a chance to be eaten is prob the reason i wont go and try to make him into my diner if he makes me into his dinner by opening his mouth.
The Macroverse or Todash?
@@stephenmandelbaum2027 Todash
You forgot the deadliest Mist monster of them all: Mrs. Carmody
Her death was satisfying if you ask me. She had it coming.
@@DoubleM-hf6ih oh yes, I was so glad somone finally shut her up😅
I misread this as Mrs. Chernobyl , and I’m pretty sure that would have been a deadly monster in The Mist
I like the Behemoth creature it's so calm when walking. It's like it's non hostile but it is hostile. It just chilling walking around.
I wonder how it walked thru the Power Lines without breaking them
To be honest when I watch this as a kid, this is Stephen King movie that has the most H.P.Lovecraft feel to it.
I bet the military at the end said”BURN IN HOLY HELL FLAMES!!”
Purge the xenos with holy fire!
Brother! Get the flamer... the HEAVY Flamer!
Holy hell flames? Yeah, alright then.
Heresy!
FOR THE EMPEROR
You forgot one monster... The lady in the store
The Golden Tiger Yes
SenpaiMark 666 She was asking to be shot dead.
Welp, time to like this comment with my 7695 accounts
u lied cuz the comment only have 125 likes XD
while I'm absolutely pro free speech, the way people in panic let themselves to get influenced by people like her is a real and dangerous phenomena. It could becomes a hell of a philosophical debate but I think the shot in the head was the best choice.
This movie is so good, and has one of the most hunting endings ever
These creatures were amazingly conceived.
I'd like to imagine creatures like this live in other dimensions and/or other planets
As far as I know there are about 8.8 billion possible earth like plants in our galaxy alone. which means 8.8 billion chances of animals like these to exist in our own galaxy. On a planet like earth? mostly pointing to Gravity. Something like the Behemoth would need a pretty big planet to roam but at the same time low gravity or it just gets crushed by gravity but of course having 6 legs could compensate for that.
Alot of them are kinda dumb and hilariously unfit to survive here. The only ones that can really work are the lazy mashups of two existing things but a little larger, like spider skulls and fly scorpions.
These are kinda lazy, shit designs tbh, just ripping off the most boring Lovecraftian deviant art.
@@thelocust619 Actually, with their atmosphere pouring onto Earth, they could survive for long periods and thrive. Like those spiders. Even if the grown-ups die, a thousand young ones would hatch. There were plenty of people around...
Star Wars AT-AT in organic form.
That behemoth is so unfuckin'-believably huge, it'd dwarf out AT-ATs like ants.
TheLambdaTeam yeah lol
@@TheLambdaTeam i don't think so
@@TheLambdaTeam they look like the same size
AT-AT's are 74 feet. The best bet would be an AT-M6 which is 134 feet and even so the behemoth towers it by an extra 106 feet. So, not even close.
My fave monster was that crazy Christian lady
She went dark very, very fast.
Ha same
Yass shimoneta
😂🤣
no... just no. please dont say 'Yass', you are a boy
To be honest, the only horror from this movie is the ending when he kills everyone and a minute later the Army shows up. He literally snaps and starts crying when he realizes if he had just waited he would still have his son
Not necessarily. Note how the soldiers are outfitted in hazmat/biohazard tactical gear, the mist may have a deadly effect that takes time to kill the exposed victims, not to mention they military may have been rounding up the survivors to more easily mass execute them in an effort to contain any infections or transmissible contagions from contaminating everywhere else that the mist and monsters didn’t reach.
There was no clear indication of a happy ending for anyone, even if he had waited a minute.
@@oldworldpatriot8920 yeah but some soldiers don't have the gear on also the mist itself isnt dangerous, just the monsters inside so if they have suits on it would be to avoid anything the monsters might have, and I doubt they would mass execute people who they assume are trapped anyways, theres no point rescuing people just to kill them
Yeah he was stupid, if anything he should've protected them to his last breath, or killed them if they were going to suffer like the man whom had spiders.
What's even worst was that after they killed Mrs Carmody. They would be rescued quicker if they stayed at the grocery store.
This show was sadly a missed opportunity as The Mist novella and the Darabont film are extraordinary. That finale is soul crushing and even King liked the change (which usually makes him incensed).
WHAT?! He approved and liked this ending?! I hated it! grrrr Not all the adaptations of his books are good...and I am a huge SK fan from the Dark Ages - I have first editions of "Carrie" and "Salem's Lot."
my favorites the behemoth
also I'm positive everyone here has heard this theory but
(spoilers for end of movie)
when you think about it, the crazy religious lady said sacrificing the kid would fix everything, and when he's killed at the end the mist clears and the army shows up, so she .at have been right
Her idea was more to do with sacrificing one person each day, I think. I don't think those were King's intentions (or the film makers).
End my suffering as
I love it so much when there are gigantic animals/creatures in movies. I think my love for this came from a dream I had as a kid where I was in my backyard looking into the far distance and I saw a giant pterodactyl/Quetzalcoatl flying in the sky. It had to be no smaller than the island of Manhattan and was just so vivid.
Dylan Sullivan What? How would that look like?
I want a "The Mist" video game LMAO... FPS 👀
👀 That would be intresting...
They made one. Think they called it Silent Hill.
That would be pretty cool. I'd play it.
Dan Johnson LmAo true
Go and play the historical society part of silent hill 2 , makes the mist look like a joke
This movie has such a good idea. I really like Stephen King's monsters. Dude has a crazy imagination.
Imagine being in this situation but then some guy runs out there in green armor, shotgun and everything and rips the tentacles in two with heavy metal playing
