Ollie was SUCH a badass in the movie. Without him the crew wouldn’t have survived. He killed the religious nut, helped with all the pharmacy stuff, and shot a PTERODACTYL. Wow, he was my favorite part of this entire movie.

@antigravgamer5440 I think the way he died was heroic and in character. Even in his last moments, he was just trying to get the others to the car. His conviction through the entire movie was one of the best parts, and his death was, to me, the most impactful. It just felt so unbelievably unfair, but realistic. The ending where everyone else died was not as impactful, it felt rushed and out of character.
He would've been a good Microchip if they ever made another Thomas Jane Punisher movie.
Ollie is definitely one of my favorite characters to come out of Stephen King's mind. I will never forget my theater clapping when he put those bullets in Ms. Carmody.
A highlight of seeing this film in theaters was enthusiastic shouts of “OLL-IE!” As he continued to kick ass and take names. And a sadder “OLLIEeeeee!” When he died.
It's so cute hearing James say "the highest kill count so far" at 36.

The end was fucking horrifying. He mercy killed everyone just before they were about to be rescued.
What gets me the Most about this is... This was an incredibly noble Action.
David Wanted to spare them the horror of death by the hands of these Monsters. HORRIFIC Deaths that you wouldnt wish on anyone. He allowed them a peaceful and painless death and was willing to suffer himself.
But with ONE scene... its all twisted on its head. A noble Action turned into One of nothing but regret.

I never realized this before, but the bullets add up perfectly. It’s a six-shooter so, assuming it was fully loaded when they made moves to leave, the two shots that took down Carmody would leave only four remaining.
To think, if Ollie had just gone for the headshot first, David wouldn’t have had to live with himself after the Mist finally cleared. Christ, this movie really does just keep getting more and more depressing.

I kind of think that's what they were going for in this film. It's more about psychology of the human mind during a crisis like this or an apocalypse
Just finished the movie and probably the saddest detail about the ending was that we see the mother who left at the beginning survived with her children, which means that David might've been able to save his son (and maybe even his wife) had they left sooner. It was a very memorable ending, nonetheless.
You can’t really blame them tho because as we saw anyone that tried to go into the mist almost instantly died but that lady has my up most respect for sure.💯

I know that everyone has respect for olie but we can’t just forget how Melissa went back into the mist to go safe her kids and actually manage to do it without dying. She easily has my respect because I wouldn’t even of had the balls to attempt it.
Never mess with mama bear! It's totally my assumption here, but I believe these creatures react mostly to sound. Creatures without eyesight (or low sight) like caves or low-visibilty areas tend to rely heavily on sounds. Also like the monsters in A Quiet Place. Stay low, stay quiet, don't panic. I'd assume that's the only way she actually made it.

Although Steven King says he wished he’d thought of this ending, i’m kind of glad he didn’t. I think if he had written it in the original source material, we would’ve expected it in the movie and it wouldn’t have had the same impact. The thing that really made this ending so heartbreaking was how everyone expected the original ending, then got something else.
It was shit to me. Like it killed the whole movie. I'd have had them all die but David would yes go outside, be mortally wounded by a creature as another destroy the car but as he dies he sees the creatures be killed by the military and sees the mom with her kids and just die wishing they had been as lucky. Or stick to the novel in full.
I don't know why, but that lady asking in a desperate voice for someone to help her get back home to her kids and everyone looking away gets to me more than it should. It's such a small role but it's done so perfectly that I can't help but get sad and feel her desperation from that one line. Does anyone feel this or am I just weird?

Everyone feels that way. The book and this movie are all about how humans react in situations like this, and it's meant to emotionally destroy you.
The horror of the unknown, her asking for help, the gruesome and terrifying deaths, the cult beliefs, and the ending are all soul crushing and horrifying.

I felt it and honestly, might have wanted to go with her. Not out of bravery but I'm the kind of person who literally CANT sit down and do nothing. Like when scared, I have a "move" response. So I keep moving until I get to where I FEEL Safe and I honestly always feel safer with less people. Being with 1-5 is enough but large crowds of SCARED humans....I feel more unsafe.

It was sad ending, even worse by the look of the Soldier's looking in the car to were what he did. Of course I thought why not have the lady hold your son with her head pressed tight against his, then shoot one bullet two dead, then the other two. That leaves one left for you.

@@arohk1579 bullets can enter through the skull and not come out the other side occasionally, instead they ricochet off the inside of the skull. But it really depends on the type of gun and the distance. Also I think David wanted to mercy kill his son quickly especially when he woke up so there wasn't too much planning.

This is literally the only movie that shows the military effectively able to deal with the supernatural issue that is happening.
The mist has literally the most heartbreaking ending I have ever seen in a movie ever. It’s genuinely the one ending that will stick with me forever. I can’t imagine what he was thinking when he saw the tank and the rescued people, knowing that he just mercy killed his son and the others for no reason. If they had just wanted literally 30 seconds.

I liked to ponder on the theory that killing the child, as the crazy lady said, would have actually worked. Admittedly, I think it would be better to just leave it as ironic, since there is barely proof of crazy lady's claims.

The mist and silent hill made me realize that sad endings and more animal shaped monsters in horror can be really good and effective.
That's not a "Sad ending". That's giving the audience the middle finger. Sad is they all die being killed. Not an "oops" moment.
That ending got me in tears. REAL TEARS. I rarely ever cry when watching a movie, and when I do, it wouldn't have any emotion to it like I had in the Mist. 10/10 must watch film

@@croc560 Your opinion sucks. It was a great twist followed up by another great twist that highlights how fear and panic can cause you to act irrationally even when said fear may not be warranted. Had they waited twenty more seconds to see what was approaching them, they would have all survived the Mist. Plus, I like the added bonus that the military isn't completely useless and just falls apart the second a crisis happens, because for some reason the most powerful military in the world folds in nearly every cinematic crisis situation it's involved in. Did they cause all of this to occur? Yes. Are they actively fixing the problem? Yes.

I like to think of it as a D&D party. The warrior with the broken broom handle for a spear, the ranger with a gun, and the wizard that can cast fireballs.
My family actually owns a house in Harrison Maine which is the town that borders Bridgeton ( where the movie is set). The store where it is set in the books is a real store that we frequently shop at and do things around. The lake we live on (long lake) is where stepehn king was where he wrote this and other classics like shawshank and the shining
I love how they portrayed the monsters as more like animals. You can see the bugs only stung when they felt threatened, which is why Mrs. Carmody didn't get stung, she was being quiet and still. You can also see that the 4 winged creatures only preyed on the bugs at first. The giant spiders also are shown to use prey as nests for their babies, like parasitic wasps. The creatures also don't chase and kill people needlessly. Every time we see someone get killed by a monster, they were being hunted or used to feed offspring. These details clearly show that the creatures from the mist are animals from another world. The mist/fog surrounding the creatures is just how their atmosphere is. I'm guessing they come from a world that is very humid and the air is thick, so much so that clouds form at ground level. I'd really like to see a sequel to The Mist where a bunch of soldiers and scientists are sent to where the monsters came from to study the mist and its flora and fauna.

Hearing an elderly woman call another woman a “miserable buzzard” was my favorite piece of dialog from this entire movie.
Another great bit is when Ollie shoots Mrs Carmody and says "Well, I killed her." And David responds "Thank you Ollie." Something about that interaction just cracked me up.

When I went to see The Mist, the audience actually cheered out loud when Marcia Gay Harden’s character died. Haven’t seen a movie before or since that that occurred.

I'm rewatching some of the old kill counts and although I love them just as much as new the new ones, I love seeing how far you've come. You have grown so much over the years as a host you used to talk so much faster and you give so much more detail about the behind the scenes and the making the movie in the KCs now and I absolutely love that. The editing and production value have come so far as well. Like I said I love the past videos and the new ones, I just think it's great to be able to go back and see all the growth from then to now. You and your team have done an amazing job growing the Dead Meat chann and I look forward to seeing what else is to come.

So even though I watched(more like listened to) this kill count before watching the actual movie I managed to catch it on Netflix and holy hell did it make me feel squimish. Especially during the pharmacy scene. It was still a great watch and even though I saw the ending coming it still broke the hell out of me. Great movie. Even with the tragic ending.

I've watched this video a few times and some how never noticed that statement now that I've heard it I cant stop laughing.
i started crying when they took out the soldier, since that scene i couldn't stop. The look on his eyes... All the fear, the sadness, begging for his life with a group of psycho watching him while he is on his own.

The ending turns this movie from great to phenomenal imo. This is what a horror movie should be. Horrible. In terms of the outcome. It’s one of those endings you wish you could see again for the first time.
