Thank you for this great music. I am 70 and when I listen to this song, it brings tears to my eyes. Finally, music that rocks and has an enlightened message for all humanity. It's about damn time! I am not worthy. Thank you Cathy Richardson and Grace Slick and the rest of the Starship. RIP Paul Kantner. You will always be my hero.
Yuh
Then she's talking about you when she sings.
🎶 Old white men have had their turn. 🎶
It’s about time to clean out the water
Sisters wives mothers and daughters
Can’t you feel the planet getting hotter?
How can you sit back and watch your own slaughter?
Old white men have had their turn
Thousands of years what have we learned
These people are still such a great band! Saw them in concert not so long ago in New Braunfels, Texas, and they really do "Carry the Fire," as Kantner asked them to do when he knew he was dying. The judgments of some who don't want them to keep evolving, and cannot recognize their deep roots in the Airplane of the 1960s just are not paying attention! I've been a fan since 1967 and loved them through all their incarnations. Live, in concert they throw out gorgeous, loud, spectacular music. In that latest concert they started with Cathy coming out and doing a very dramatic rendition of "Sunrise" that got the entire house very excited… good people and great musicians!!!
I agree, they ARE the SPIRIT of the Jefferson Airplane , come back to life .....I LOVE LOVE LOVE this band, as much as I always did as a kid in the 60's.....
@@timmccarthy3034 Thanks for your comment! Totally agree. I remember the original Airplane, which I saw several times, late 60s, early 70s, could be weird and experimental, but was always great. The current line-up are superb musicians, do the kind of great vocals and harmonies they band has always been known for. I'm so pleased they persist!
I fell down a rabbit hole today that had so many twists and turns and wound up here. Awesome to experience this at this time in this moment and share your appreciation. 👍
This gorgeous young lady breathes new life into this band. Still hear the echoes of Paul, Grace and Marty. Very great new and old band.
Hopefully she only has black children
Kudos. Gace Slick had her run and now this gal has the perfect music for her voice. Great tune.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS BAND......and I always have, ever since I was a little kid in the 60's.....I was born in 1960......the beginning of the Golden Age.....the greatest musical period in the history of this planet....and so, because I had an older brother, I got turned on to all the great music of the day...This band, Jefferson Starship, as the Jefferson Airplane, was one of my strong inspirations as a kid, as a young artist.....I recall "Bathing at Baxters" was my favorite album.....and I played it over and over , about 1001 times....I sang in rock bands as a teen, in the 70's and 80's, doing covers of Bowie, Deep Purple , Stones, Tull, etc.... and now at 60 yrs old, I am playing guitar again, singing ( the best I can) and thinking about forming my own band, as I have written about 30 songs so far..THIS BAND is still one of my main inspirations.......and I LOVE THEM SO MUCH........I cannot get enough.....I AM SO HAPPY THEY ARE STILL GOING SO STRONG in a BRAND NEW SHINY BEAUTIFUL UFO.............taking off at the speed of light into the Universe....We are so BLESSED to have them among us.....I feel sorry for those who are closed minded , and un-able to appreciate their greatness.....and fail to hear the deep-rooted connection to their origins as the "Jefferson Airplane"......REINCARNATION is the way of the Universe........and this band is living proof of that...THANK YOU JEFFERSON STARSHIP........for all the Beauty, Love and Care you have given and are still giving to the World.....THE FLAME YOU HAVE LIT IN MY HEART WILL BURN FOREVER.....I LOVE YOU.....
Saw them in concert in Greenville, SC. Fantastic show! First time hearing this song but instantly knew it wouldn’t be the last time. Timely and on point. ❤
Great Song! Cathy is a fantastic singer and so is David this is Jefferson Starship 2020..with the blessings of Paul and Grace, she co-wrote with them. Looking forward to a new album
david is like 83 and still performing!!!
He's probably a good advertisement for Buddhist chanting which I believe he does...
He's an old white man who they hate
Wow, Cathy still rocks and sounds amazing!!
i´m not a fan but THIS smokes 99% of today´s music...easily
They were great in concert.
This band is Paul's legacy. Each of them played with him for many years and they are amazing. David was in the original Jefferson Starship with Paul & Grace. Grace has blessed them to carry on and we are lucky to have them. Remember the legacy, but enjoy the present. TY, Donny, Chris, Jude, Cathy and yes, you too David. Wonderful!
This version is amazing in concert. I would see them again and again. Met the whole group, got autographs and a hug from Cathy Richardson too!
MAGNIFICO!!!!!
Christ, I love this tune! All of you since the start of your voluminous and so expressive work, have been an inspiration to me. I turned 70 the other day and will flip switches in days on an experiment that YOU inspired. Thanks. BATE. R.I.P. Paul. What a mind. Tell Grace hello please. Maybe God is a field? Do are we. Beautiful!
It's about time everyone realizes that THIS is Jefferson Starship now. I'm very much aware of everyone's history dating back to the beginning and the simple fact that they still write and record GREAT music in 2020 shows how strong their vibe still is. These people were the heart of the 60s. They should have statues somewhere.
It seems more like a cash grab then a continuation of a legacy....just my opinion which means nothing.
@@godwillguideme.3773 Paul Kantner wanted this band to go on as long as possible. This was his band, and he hand picked all these guys.
@@IndyDefense well this IS "as long as possible".....
Antifa will say the statues are racist and tear them down
@@godwillguideme.3773 if it were a cash grab, they would go out and just do "Greatest Hits" that's not what they do, they are writing new music, and it's damn good, they are Jefferson Starship 2020, if you don't like it, don't listen but you are missing out, it was Pauls band and they all played together for a long time before he passed away, the band has the blessings of Paul and Grace ( who co wrote with them) Donny has been the drummer for years and David has a history with them going back to the sixties, I get it that some bands with no original members etc should just let it go and move and are just a cash grab, but that is just not the case with this band, especially if you see them live, yes they the old songs but they truly do them justice and are not just going through the motions, if it's good enough for Grace and Paul, it's good enough for me
Great song hope this one gets played on june 15th when i see these guys at pennspeak in jim thrope pa grew up listening to bands like this
Great song, great anthem. I’ll keep an open mind and use this song to get thru these tough times, and sending out good vibes
Cathy and the Band - talent rises to the top! - and nice T-Shirt - - KAMALA
This SONG AND ALBUM ARE GREAT THOUGH.
Three guitars and no bass? Awesome!!!! 😀
Chris handles bass and keys.
This should be the anthem for the 21st century!
its a great tune that embodies the spirit of the Airplane and the Starship both - you can hear Grace in the lyrics and the vocals - a fitting legacy and hopefully something to carry on
Listening over and over! All the elements I love... picking electric guitar, bells, awesome female vocals (amazing Cathy!) hauntingly melodic keyboards and old guys rocking!!!
THIS ROCKS MY BRAINS OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GREAT tune! Rockin' with a message. Thank you for this gift!
Paas this on people. I know I am going too. Incredible aong about truth. Thanks Kathy and Grace.
Damn, she has some voice !!
LOVE IT!!! ❤
Sounds like AOR to me....really nice!!!!
Welcome Back! Great Song! I've been through many changes with this band! I remember when Grace Slick left the band and they were scheduled to play New York's Palladium. I purch.ased tickets for this show. Musically the changes that were made were the additions of Mickey Thomas on Vocals and Aynsley Dunbar on Drums. This was the Freedom at Point Zero Tour. We went to the show not knowing what to expect. We left the show totall Blown away! The band had such high Energy! It was Amazing. Years later, I met Paul Kantner in the front of BB Kings in NY after the show and spoke with him about that show. He clearly remembered it and said that it was one of the shows where he had a lot of fun performng that night! I've seen the current lineup at the ST.George Theater in Staten Island, NY. I was very impressed with the band. Paul Kantner would be very proud of the current lineup. They do honor to the Jefferson Starship name. Just so you know, I've also seen STARSHIP with Mickey Thomas with opening act Eddy Money at a Rahway, NJ Theater right before Eddy Money passed away. Mickey Thomas is a great singer and he also does the STARSHIP songs justice. STARSHIP is like seeing the band in a completely different era. Honestly, I went to see Mickey Thomas. Both bands are doing well, but we can clearly understand the differences between both bands. I'm looking forward to Jefferson Starships new album "Mother of the Sun".
A great song to liven up the spirit in these strange times.
Wow! This song is so Kool...
Jefferson starship have never aged. They are a band that transcends age, time and language. I still remember when my mom took me to see them after Paul kantner reformed them. I was still a little kid of the 90s and fell in love with their music in a heartbeat. Now they are still at it and as an adult, I still ride their starship to the stars.
I can't believe David is in his 80s!!
He's probably a good advertisement for Buddhist chanting which I believe he does...
Cathy has a great voice and the band still rocks, but this song sounds more like Sugarland than the Jefferson Starship that I grew up listening to in the mid-70s. Oh well. Life goes on and I wish JS the best.
I was lucky enough to see the Starship in 1981 & the Airplane reunion of 1989. I prefer to remember them as they were.
Great song.
Brilliant song 🙂
Why am I just now knowing about this, "It's about time." Seen them in Berkely, CA (Greek Theator) back in 1980-81 when they were Jefferson Airplane once again.
I got the chance to catch them in concert and I am so glad I did they we're awesome! They were in Greeneville, TN this past weekend and it was one of the best concerts I been too, they show no signs of slowing down! My hats off to them ,I'm so glad I got to see them ! David sure don't act 82 ! Lol God Bless them
LOVE this song and this BAND!! Have all the older vinyl and SO happy to add this to the collection of GREATNESS!!!! Cathy ROCKS!!!
Great song by a great band. 👍👍
Rock In Peace Paul Kantner. I still listen to your Scifi story you wrote and recorded.
I literally got chills Jefferson Starship simply dosen't age a bit
A very nice song indeed
OMG FABULOUS!!👏👏👏👏
Love it❤
You really hit the Big one...best song by Jefferson starship I've ever heard! Rock on!
Wow! This song literally Rocks! What a great message, great Lyrics!
Just imagine..... GRACE SLICK singing this entire album 😱🥳😍.
Beautiful lyrics & you can tell it has Grace's heavenly touch 😇😇😇
I'm really impressed with her. As an older guy, I've seen a lot of bands bring in new members that either totally change the band or just don't seem to fit. She seems perfect for this bands style.
An airplane..starship..fan..brought tears to my eyes..she's awesome!
It's about timei check out this new round of JS!
i have loved this band for decades. some different people but the same cred. and cathy richardson can do it all.
It works. Carry on the torch for Paul, Spencer, Toly, and Papa John
Nice one.
Great song...what an energy and beautiful melodies.
Sounds country but I like it. One of my all time favorite bands...
Perfect!
It's about space, about two men in the strangest place...

“Nature’s Way,” Spirit, “Out in the Country,” Three Dog Night, “Fresh Air,” Quicksilver Messenger Service.
Welcome back , we missed you all!
Debuted in my weekly personal chart on June 28, 2020 edition :)
😉 Amazing! Love you all! 😍
I love the sound and production on this song and that voice.....amazing punch and delivery! It sounds so good I'm able to ignore the lame outdated message of the lyrics.
Thank for an awesome show Wednesday!!
Is this country?
It’s about time track is amazing
My wife who is listening in the background said, "Who is that? It's awful. It's getting on my nerves." I said, "New music by Jefferson Starship." My wife said, "They oughta stop." I agree. The song is fatiguing to listen to. Perhaps it's mixed or mastered too loud. Bad EQ or loss of dynamics. I'm not sure. And, more importantly, it's sad that peace and love has turned into blaming all the sins of the world on old "white" men. "White" men have sinned plenty, for sure. But, to single out an entire group of people by gender and color prevents any hope of peace and love, and shows an ignorance of world history and current affairs of all peoples (not just self-centered "progressive" Americans). All people are capable of hate and oppression to each other and the world, including the members of Jefferson Starship. Sad to hear this. I'll go back to the old albums.
I like the drummer's Jerry Garcia shirt...I had no idea that Jefferson Starship was still around! They don't look the same - that's for sure. They've lost too many people to call themselves that anymore, no? Who owns the name?
The last one from the original JS is David Freiberg, he's like Maurice from the Bee Gees. Nobody notices him, but they keep him around. Also, the drummer played in the Garcia band in the 90s ;)
i love it 🖖🏻
❤❤Danke für die Performance 😂😂😂😂❤❤Danke 😂😂😂Danke
Great song, keep truckin
oh my god.
Great I luv'
AMERICAN ROCK !! COME ON ⤴⤴
Cathy, IN JEFF PLANE STARSHIP INTERVIEW ( SHE SHE WAS PROUD TO BE A MEMBER
THIS IS FUCKING GREAT!
I listen to them, even in the different formations, Cathy is, she is ... she is really rock! I think this band can still give a lot, they can teach the new generations. This song ... really beautiful lyrics and sound.
I'm near the sea, I listen to it at least 8 times a day, especially at sunset ... NEVER stop, thanks from Italy
