Very much agreeing with ya. Hardly anyone realizes that the "safety" of asphault is false. Safer to be on dirt/gravel in any weather, yet we cater to those who dont learn how to drive, only those who think they can.

There was a 205 group B car, famous ride, but it's a different model. There was never a 405 T16 group B spec, unless prototyped. Group B was dead when Peugeot brought the 405 T16 in.
Peugeot made 205 and 405 production cars for the people.
The 205 rally car competed in group B, and another spec of that car competed in Paris Dakar with enormous success, driven by Ari Vatanen.
The 405 T16 was the car Peugeot used in competition AFTER the 205. Group B had been killed by then, so no 405 T16 have ever been used in group B.
Now, on to the weird thing that gets people confused. I always specify T16 when talking about the 405 rally car for this reason :
The 405 T16 is a coupe. It has only two doors. HOWEVER there was never a production 405 coupe. Pininfarina made a concept but it never moved any further. All 405 production models were 4 door sedans.
The 405 T16 whether Pikes Peak or Dakar version is a fabulously good looking car, and completely unique. Vatanen enjoyed continued success in Dakar with the 405 T16. Longer wheel base, etc.
I honestly think it's a shame because the T16 race car is way better looking than the Pininfarina concept, and a production car that had those proportions would've been just fucking amazing. Nothing in Peugeot lineups ever looked like the T16.

Yeah Ari is still alive and drives but his son does most the work. Nothing like his father but still a fantastic driver.

As someone who lives less than an hour from Pikes Peak you cannot get a good feel for how massive these driver's balls are until you see the mountain yourself. you can literally die on every turn.
