      The y. IDK how the Soviets called it but in English Y can be used as a I sound because English adopted words from many different languages so grammar rules are F'd

      @@neurofiedyamato8763 it's pronounced rys with short y sound not Ai. You pronounce Gym not Gaim,

      ​​​@@tedarcher9120English isn't consistent as I have already explained. Y as a vowel can be I or E. Examples of long I include Fly, By, and for one not at the end of a word, Tycoon or Style.
      It's next to impossible to pronounce English without hearing someone else say the word. And considering this is a Russian word for Lynx apparently, it's a moot point using English grammar to judge the pronunciation anyways.

      @@neurofiedyamato8763 yeah, but why go the extra mile to pronounce it incorrectly? Rice is a different word to Rys, it's written differently and is pronounced differently
