I'm with you Lathrix, it's infuriating watching fleets dive bomb the station and dive straight into the gravity well splitting their fire away from the two fleets halfway between them and the station and losing any range advantage they might have had immediately. I wish they would actively try to stay at their max range from enemies and prioritize attacking fleets first, would make combat so much more dynamic.
On transport ships, artillery fleets best include 20-25% X H2 carriers for point defence and clearing out small evasive targets. Also, taking out the station turns off the base auras and can even turn the system neutral, so it can be a big advantage to do that especially with perdition beams and L slot weapons with poor tracking against close targets. AFAIK if the fleet is out of range of the base, it won't be engaged, so I try to lure fleets to the edge of the system and approach them from as far from the base as possible when it matters. Lath, has to keep his play throughs fast paced so he isn't micro managing the details. But there is a mod providing more tactical combat control, so it may be worth a shot, Republic of Play used it in his Roman Empire play through which lists the extensive mods he used
Personally, I would love to see the raw footage for these long episodes. Even if most of it is just micromanagement, it would be something I could watch while doing work.
@Lathland: You can guarantee the Rubricator spawns closer to your territory by moving the Science Vessel back to your space, after completing the Special Project, but before you hit the OK button on the event popup (just unpause and order it back to your home world). It's kind of "cheaty", but it is very much a feature! Technical Explanation: The system will be spawned in relation to the science vessels position, and that position will be noted only as you click OK.

@OriginalTharios I love how you completely ignore the fact that Spiritualists and Psionics actually make a VERY convincing argument since you know...The shroud is very much a real thing that can be significantly more easily by spiritually minded empires.
@OriginalTharios Well, I'd say that Spiritualists and Psionics aren't really cults they're more like widespread religions. In a Spiritualist empire, pops are allowed to follow any ethos whereas in an actual cult such thinking would likely get you immediately executed or removed from the cult (Like how a collective consciousness deals with rogue drones). That's not all that different from real life when you think about it. Most religious people are fine with people having their own beliefs unlike cults which REQUIRE you to think in a certain way if you want to be associated.

"We are in danger!" he says, seeing the Contingency appear. Contingency: Never becomes much more than a few blips on the map. Something is SERIOUSLY wrong with the crisis. These 25x crisis early videos have shown that very well; not even a player as talented as Lathland should be beating the 25x crisis, certainly not so early, certainly not so soundly. 25x - and before it, 5x - was supposed to be the END OF THE GALAXY strength.
I love watching these! I know that I'm a wee bit late, but I think it's still very much enjoyable. I love your personality and sense of humor in particular!
I just want to recomment some diffrent game settings to try out. I've increased the number of regular empires by +50%, from 10 to 15 (from the default 9+1player to 14+1player, same galaxy size) and find the change quite more interesting and challenging. You get less space early on, get into conflict earlier, and later on there is more happening

With the new Ringworld, you've just saved a few decades and lots of alloy to build your own and can instead build up,m upgrade ships and take out any other FEs before they wake up.
I wonder if Lath figured out the Contingency has been made to go after the strongest empire first. ^^'
Welp, imma be countered by the crisis as the strongest by far in my galaxy

Contingency only uses anti armour and hull energy weapons with balanced armour and shields, Hull is their lowest.
So a penetrating weapons + shield build is best as counter. And use some PD for their stations strike craft.
Good luck. ^^
I fucking love these videos. It's everything I've ever wanted in a stellaris campaign, an in depth view of what's going on while the cutting out of the more micromanagement segments of stellaris
Stellaris: a lathrixian tale of the "good guys"
I rarely comment, but I just wanted to come down here and say I really enjoy these full play through videos. Thank you for making them and I hope to see more in the future.
“Sterilizer, and I’m not gonna say that word because of how RUclips can be weird with stuff like that.”
What? You can’t even say [REDACTED]?
Lathrix, Thank you dearly for this feature length Masterpiece
Oh boy, 60 hours. I'm gonna get all my friends to like it.
I find your gameplays of Stellaris rather relaxing. Good job and keep them coming!
I love this series and it's the greatest.
Idk why this was recommended so late, but hope that engagement will bring more viewers again.
Idk why im watching this, my writing session begins in 11 minutes
I loved every minute of this video you are an ABSOLUTE BEAST! this was my first time seeing the Contingency end game crisis at all so thank you very much for that tutorial too lmao! Keep up these videos I prefer this longer let's play types because I work full time and go to school. I love having the sound in the background and being able to peek up at it from time to time
"We are in danger!" he says, seeing the Contingency appear.
You get less space early on, get into conflict earlier, and later on there is more happening
thank you for recording the big videos i love them at 1.5 speed when im working
Comments are good for the RUclips algorithm.
I really REALLY like these Long Format videos! It sounds like you enjoy making them, so I hope that these don't become so detrimental that you have to discontinue making them.
