I love all you guys at flitetest, what you do is amazing, trying to introduce RC flying to the community, and the plans you guys have are great, I love anything RC and would love to get into this hobby but no way can I afford it. keep going guys, don't stop doing what you love!
Luke Rosevear they have free plans on their website and they use dollar tree foam board and hot glue. you can build a plane for a few bucks! the electronics can get pricey but look for used stuff in your area or try hobbyking.com. it is not cheap but it is not as expensive as most people think.
Luke Rosevear crashes happen and thats ok. learn from it, rebuild and try again. rc simulators are alot of fun. practice, have fun, crash and hit the reset button and youre ready to go again.
Yeah, man that's small. When I was about 12 yrs old, I was grounded to my room for a while. I wanted to be able to fly my plane, but you can't fly a Piper Tripacer with a 53.24" wingspan in a BEDROOM. SO, I designed a MINI BI-PLANE, and used some of my scrap Balsa wood to build it. I made it a 3"inch wingspan, and fuselage about 3.25 length. I made it a MINI GLIDER, I used a brad nail for nose weight. It could do a loop, and glide. Flying it in my bedroom. Ha. Ha. Yes it was cool.
I have the duet because my dad wanted to teach me how to fly. Fast forward a couple months and now I taught my friend and he has nearly mastered simple maneuvers.
Sorry but the Hobbyzone Duet is the winner here. I have priced the night vapor. The cheapest vapor is still $30 more than the Duet. The Duet is truly RTF. Everything you need to fly within 30 mins of purchase(time to charge battery) is in the box. It flies in a field or in a yard. It will even carry a small camera. Durability is also amazing. If it does break, it can be fixed with gorilla glue. I keep expecting to have to buy a new plane every time I crash and the darn thing just won't die. Moreover the Duet is very very easy to fly. It helps build confidence in new pilots regardless of their age and that in turn leads to success and a more enjoyable experience and increases the chance that the hobby will grow. I have nothing against the other planes on the list. They're all fine, but the Duet is just everything in a perfect little package. Also it looks good and tracks like its on rails.
I recently bought a hobbyzone duet and it flies surprisingly well! Here in Spain we're having a lot of wind lately, but that's not a problem for the duet. You can even glide with it because its engines will make it turn even with no throttle. I would totally recommend it.
I flew the duet some time ago, that thing rocks, almost indestructible and really stable, plus it can fly outside quite well if the wind is not too strong.
I've had the night vapour for attest 1-2 years now and it's great flown it over 300 times and still using the same original prop it came with. Great slow plane, also good for night flying :)
FT flyer is such a great plane for beginners and more experienced pilots. I've been considering the duet and/or a night vapor just for fun. Loved the video! Thanks for being awesome!
Love the Duet, it's really fun to practice takeoffs and landings, very maneuverable so it's really easy. Great plane to mess around with or learn on. Great video guys.
We love your videos. From my two young boys who watch your videos with me as part of story time. 😄😍 big fans. So much that we have just got into rc flying.
I recently bought a hobbyzone duet and it flies pretty well even with strong wind! Of course it's gonna break if you crash it, but it's easy to fly. It's a nice begginer for a very low price, but dont expect it to survive hard crashes.
Nice video! This is a good guide for beginners, but I notice Josh Scott is hitting the elevator quite hard on the vapor. This might have changed since I got my Vapor, but they generally like a low amount of elevator. Also, I can say the Vapor does fly well, as I have over 500 hours of flight time on mine. One tip I can share, is that Cling wrap is a great substitute skinning if you rip the original. Cover it slowly, super glue it, then cut away the excess. Hope this helps some one, and thanks for posting!
The parrot bebop 2 does that TOO , but ,,,,, it's not safe for the other party goers ..lol.. But it's a great way to let everyone know it's time to go home.👍👍
When I was a kid, about 12yrs old. I Designed a Mini Bi plane glider with a 3"inch wingspan, and fuselage about 3.25"inches long. Made of Balsa wood. I used part of a brad nail for nose weight. It could do a loop and glide. Flying it in my bedroom, COOL.
Bought a Duet, Love it, but HORRIBLE in wind. The box says 5 MPH or lower wind. Easy to fly, and for $60 it's a great start to tell you if RC planes is going to be your thing or not.
I have the duet. The only time I ever crashed it was on its first flight, and that was because it was a little too windy. All my other flights have been perfect- it's extremely maneuverable and easy to fly. Would recommend.
I have the duet and it is beat the crap up from hundreds of really bad crashes and it weighs atleast twice from all the glue I have put on it, one of my friends broke the wing off and it glued back on
The Vapor is the best first indoor plane for a beginner. Intermediate pilots should go for the UMX AS3Xtra. I'm normally outdoors flying large scale, however still love having a go with the Vapor.
that duet flies really good for a diff thrust plane. ive never seen a toy rc with diff thrust fly that good. I guess adding a elevator really makes a big difference.
Considering downloading the plans and making your own. That's what I did (with lots of advice from good people at www.rcgroups.com admittedly). While speed build kits must be cool, you would anyway need to glue, cut, solder the electronics, install servos and pushrods and all of that. The first plane I made is an FT Flyer, because I loved the shape, it is not too hard to build from plans. But, now I am making another one easier to fly, and I will spend some time flying that. Josh makes it look easy, because he is such a good pilot, but I think the FT flyer is not necessarily the best first plane to learn on, other designs are more forgiving for a beginner and faster to repair or simply to rebuild from scratch for the cost of a few bucks of foam, which is important because at first you will probably crash quite a few times
Nice video, guys! I've been waiting for a video reviewing the HobbyZone Duet and this one is the best! Now i really know i want to start with that one, thanks!
Love it! Just got a DJI Wookong carbon core cortex dji zenmuse z15 5d and I am planing to do such an event with drone down in Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul, Caxias do Sul, will post you guys a video!!!!!
I have the Duet it is an amazing plane and handles well especially at half throttle. It is very durable I accidentally crashed it nose first. Dumb thumb moment😂. If you are considering to get it is worth the 64$ for RTF. It's amazing! I do recommend to get more batteries as it charges for 20-25 minutes.
I crashed my duet a huge amount of times and now my motor one of my motor leads broke and I had to solder them back on the battery also broke in a crash it broke in three days, I'm not sure if it will even work after fixing it I need to get a new battery for it
The Duet is 100% my favorite airplane. I've had three of them. They're very simple to fly and can do awesome tricks. Anybody wondering if they should buy one, DO IT. The only con of the plane is the battery compartment, it's held with Velcro and usually comes off after a crash
i just bought the Duet couple weeks ago seeing this makes me want to get into the air but were life they only have the highschool gym an they only open it for a craft fair an sporting events to the public
Hi, I'm about to get my first plane. I've been looking into the speed build swappable 3-pack, the Cox Hobbies Sky Cruiser, and now, the Duet. How does the Duet handle in light to moderate wind conditions?
Good video to watch in quarantine for 2020

That sounds really good, I might start flight RC but what goes up must come down. lol, ill start off with a simulator. :)

The Night Vapor is awesome! The Mini Vapor would've been an even better indoor choice. That thing is TINY.
I agree i love the night vapor

EJ DUDE27 blablabla
I have had the duet for three years, I have broken it many times. It still flies!!!!! The duet is the best trainer plane!!!!

I have a Duet too! I can literally just fly it whenever I want in my back yard! I really like my Duet!
I own a Night Vapor and I love it! You can make it hang on the prop, which is not easy for most planes that don't have ailerons
Wow! I always thought i wouldn't have enough money to have fun flying rc planes but know I think I am going to go for the duet, it looks tons of fun!
I flew the duet some time ago, that thing rocks, almost indestructible and really stable, plus it can fly outside quite well if the wind is not too strong.
Cool! Yeah I’ve heard those are really solid little fliers.
On mine, I've ripped the starboard wing off, the fuselage in half, and obliterated the nose. *Aggressive Scotch Tape Noises.*
*Fixed*
Found out the hard way that the duet can do any wind. She took off and a big gust of wind took her into the wild blue yonder, never to be seen again.
Love how you guys always seem to have fun in the videos

I really wish I had an indoor place to fly of any kind, and I would really love to have one like this!!!!
Bixler's laugh cracks me up, great video guys.
You guys should really try and build an airplane using the Magnus effect it would me really really cool
they did
i mean not them but one guy allready did his name is peter I think

Zachariah Crenshaw wtf man
@@TheRealAverageZac pictures don't work like that man
I love my Night Vapor, its the only plane I can fly in the dark drunk at 2 am! Not that I condone that sort of behaviour, lol
Craig McVeigh I
Im not into planes or anything but tossing the idea around. You sir, just made my decision.
The parrot bebop 2 does that TOO , but ,,,,, it's not safe for the other party goers ..lol..
But it's a great way to let everyone know it's time to go home.👍👍
lol I wanna try that
but I’m not old enough to drink
I agree. Everyone should get at least 8hrs of sleep
Josh,Josh & Alex; Thanks for the Video & looks like a Fun time !
I just did the review flight on the new umx night vapor on my channel
I learned to fly on a duet. Handled fine in wind but overall a great beginner
This video right here got me into the hobby, thanks 🙏
just scratch built my ft flyer, absolutely a fun plane to fly. takes a beating and keeps going, wing tape and hot glue it's back up ready to go.
Bought a Duet, Love it, but HORRIBLE in wind. The box says 5 MPH or lower wind. Easy to fly, and for $60 it's a great start to tell you if RC planes is going to be your thing or not.
The Duet is one awesome plane!!!
I have the duet. The only time I ever crashed it was on its first flight, and that was because it was a little too windy. All my other flights have been perfect- it's extremely maneuverable and easy to fly. Would recommend.
you guys should talk about the Ember 2, it handles wind better than the night vapor but is still slow and easy to fly.
I used to fly the mini vapor and the duet. They were awesome. Although I managed to break the duet
I have the duet and it is beat the crap up from hundreds of really bad crashes and it weighs atleast twice from all the glue I have put on it, one of my friends broke the wing off and it glued back on
Looks like fun times. We need to do some of that at our indoor flights. Good ideas.
Thanks guys for doing what you do! Ordering my first plane very soon!
The Vapor is the best first indoor plane for a beginner. Intermediate pilots should go for the UMX AS3Xtra. I'm normally outdoors flying large scale, however still love having a go with the Vapor.
Also you can put the motors from a micro quad such as the hubsan x4 or Walkera ladybird on to the Duet they're higher rpm, and more powerful.
that duet flies really good for a diff thrust plane. ive never seen a toy rc with diff thrust fly that good. I guess adding a elevator really makes a big difference.
proving once again that this should be FUN!!
This is probably my favorite video of flite test. i just like the indoor videos.
Yesterday I instantly bought the duet cause it is so cheap and rtf.
I have a duet but it crashed and nose down in the wing detached but the ESC wires is what's keeping it on how should i repair it
You guys should do a review of the UMX Radian, been wanting the Radian but it is too big for my current travel situation; is the UMX for me?
This video inspired me to fly, thank you for getting me this 3 years of experience to get the bird in my bio ;)
Intermediate/ Advanced indoor planes next? I love the micro spitfire with AX3X.
Night Vapor is so much fun on a calm summer evening
I was thinking of getting the ft flyer as a first plane after watching this video. But it seems to be unavailable on your site.
Israel Contreras yes I’m so sad😭😭
If you want a good one, try the QF-002. I learned to fly on that plane.
I see crashed planes in the back and I was wondering if I could buy some if the price is right
Have you guys considered looking for a glass blower to blow really thin glass to make wings?
Nice video, guys! I've been waiting for a video reviewing the HobbyZone Duet and this one is the best! Now i really know i want to start with that one, thanks!
Love it! Just got a DJI Wookong carbon core cortex dji zenmuse z15 5d and I am planing to do such an event with drone down in Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul, Caxias do Sul, will post you guys a video!!!!!
What we saying about fpv cameras on there, could I put one on???
Not sure if I'm laughing with you guys or at Bixler's laugh. Amazing!
Please do a review on the night vapor by itself
Is the 300 foot flying area for the Hobbyzone Duet the radio range or the recommended flying area? The manual says radio range is 300 foot.
i want to get into the hobby but i’m 27 what’s a good starter that i’ll still like a few months down the road
are you guys using a gopro gimbal on that long pole?
Where can you buy the disks that go over the radio controls?
WOOO I have been begging for you guys to try out the night vapor!
Is the twin engine one good for out doors? What's the wind limit?
I have the Duet it is an amazing plane and handles well especially at half throttle. It is very durable I accidentally crashed it nose first. Dumb thumb moment😂. If you are considering to get it is worth the 64$ for RTF. It's amazing! I do recommend to get more batteries as it charges for 20-25 minutes.
Could you guys make a video of the champ and duet and compare?
Where an one get the gimble limiters you showed?
I crashed my duet a huge amount of times and now my motor one of my motor leads broke and I had to solder them back on the battery also broke in a crash it broke in three days, I'm not sure if it will even work after fixing it I need to get a new battery for it
Looks like yall were having a ball flying inside!
i got the duet when i got into the hobby, it flew well but when i crashed, it held up extremely bad
Same here, a (gentle) tap on the side of a gutter, the whole tail broke off. oh well. you get what you pay for.
I had that twin plane. Bought it just for a holiday. For this brings home
Great video, amazing idea with the control limiters! Will be great for teaching my son
What radio would you recommend for a beginner like me?
I get nostalgic watching this
Do u guys have a rtf plane that my son could have rc planes are a little out of budget
U guy make me feel so happy after every shit school day
I can’t wait to get my duet
My cousin got the duet, he flew it for the first time and as soon as he tried to turn right, the whole left wing snapped clean in half. What the heck?
The Duet is 100% my favorite airplane. I've had three of them. They're very simple to fly and can do awesome tricks. Anybody wondering if they should buy one, DO IT. The only con of the plane is the battery compartment, it's held with Velcro and usually comes off after a crash
What type of tricks? Is it BNF?
+Glidersandplanes I guess I should've elaborated: it can do A trick: flips. It's a RTF
you can buy RC cars here for about £7-50, i wonder if it would be possible to use the components to make an RC plane
Evidently the Swapables are no longer available, correct?
I ordered the duet excited for it to arrive
can you guys suggest a beginner gyroplane for indoors flying?
thank you for the positive video and excellent flights :)
i just bought the Duet couple weeks ago seeing this makes me want to get into the air but were life they only have the highschool gym an they only open it for a craft fair an sporting events to the public
i had a duet but the servos were wired the wrong way thus making it shatter on the ground
Hey flite test ive always wanted a duet can i upgrade the motors ?
Whoa. Two more months of winter! The FT gremlin must have see his shadow.
wait does the hobby zone duet come with a remote controler or do you have to buy one
It´s RTF, you have everithing.
Can you reduce the price of transmitter in your store
I'm finally getting my duet
What type of landing gears are those on the FT Flyer?
Is there a kit for the ft flyer? The link in the disc is broken, and I can't seem to find it on the ft store.
I know, it sucks
How about some other kinds of planes?
what battery do you use on the ft flyer? my ft flyer is really tail heavy with a 2s 500mah lipo...
Hi, I'm about to get my first plane. I've been looking into the speed build swappable 3-pack, the Cox Hobbies Sky Cruiser, and now, the Duet. How does the Duet handle in light to moderate wind conditions?
how can i find out i can fly indoors at certain gym or parks and rec?
I think that takes a lot of phone calls, personal contacts.
Don
thats what im thinking as well
Sadly they don’t sell either plane anymore
That inro is just....classic 'Murican'!
would a 3s 20c 800mah amp work for the nutball set up?
wow i'm i your first likes?
Is it a gimble on that long pole because it looks really smooth!
