When Durafly released the original Auto-G it raised the bar by being the first Plug-N-Fly autogyro on the market, that bar has been raised even higher with the Auto-G2 V2. Keeping to the Durafly tradition, it is quick and simple to assemble, flies extremely well, and looks amazing in flight. The V2 upgrades include the addition of a durable 2mm fiber-reinforced nylon head plate, fiber-reinforced pushrods, a fully encased main mast, wider, stronger landing gear with large lightweight bush-style foam wheels, and a cowled-in motor, plus smaller internal electronics giving more space for the flight battery.
Autogyros are very unique aircraft utilizing an unpowered free-spinning main rotor to develop lift, and a powered propeller to provide thrust. This makes them quite different from traditional fixed-wing aircraft. The Auto-G2 V2 offers you this very interesting design in an easy and simple-to-use Plug-N-Fly model.
The Auto-G2 V2 also features an auto-start rotor run-up system. This system uses a small electric brushed motor which is engaged via a separate channel to spin up the rotors prior to take-off, this ensures the head is spinning at the optimal speed for take-off. Landings are also a dream, you can land the Auto-G2 V2 very similar to a conventional fixed-wing model. But with practice, very short almost vertical landings are achievable with next to no ground run. The upgraded wider, and stronger landing gear greatly improves the ground handling, and the large bush-style wheels allows for flying from even the most demanding surfaces and terrain.
For those of you looking for a new flying experience, the Auto-G2 V2 is just the ticket. This model will be especially appealing to those fixed-wing pilots who enjoy coordinating turns with the rudder or to those who fly both helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft, as this model falls somewhere between the two. With its unique flight characteristics, the Auto-G2 V2 is by far one of the most interesting models you'll ever have flown. In addition to its super slow flight and auto-rotation capability, it can even perform simple aerobatics such as gentle stall turns.
The Auto-G2 V2 fuselage and tail components are constructed from highly durable EPO foam, while the tail boom is made from strong, lightweight carbon fiber. Assembly is super quick with its pre-installed electronics, bolt-on horizontal stab, and pre-fitted servo linkages. The only part of this model that requires gluing is the vertical stabilizer.
The Auto-G2 V2 will bring you a flying experience like no other and will leave you smiling from ear to ear every time the wheels lift into the air.
Features:
• Plug-N-Fly format with power systems, and servos pre-installed
• V2 has wider, stronger landing gear with large bush-style wheels for better ground handling and rough terrain capability
• Auto-start rotor system for shorter take-off runs
• Strong, impact-resistant rotor blades, and durable 2mm fiber-reinforced rotor-head
• Tough EPO components plus strong carbon fiber tail-boom
• New V2 color scheme
• Offers a unique flying experience

Still waiting on mine, but I am excited. The sound is fantastic. I think HK nailed it. The experienced gyronauts may want more features, but for a beginner this is great.
I kind of want one with two rotors now, haha!
tried balancing my main rotor, but it sure vibrates still. yours looked pretty smooth when spinning up before takeoff.
That was great flying you have it dial in nice video ☺👍👍
Thank you! 👍
enjoy your videos keep them coming
nice flight ! the sound is awesome 😎
Yeah. Pretty fun!
Great video John! I'll have a look at this plane down the road.
Yeah buddy!
A follow up note from my comments from a month ago...Tada! Hobbyking has promised my delivery sometime in the next week. I did explain to my wife this is all your fault. Affixing the blame is always important with any new endeavor. LOL. Thanks John. Jim
Perfect! Feel free to blame me for rc purchases anytime! 😂 on maiden fly it nice and easy. I’ve seen some people have an issue trying to yank and bank it too much
Nice! I'm waiting for mine.
Great! Let me know how you like it!
@@JohnVHRC
I sure will,.. if it flies as great as yours, which I know it will there's no doubt I'll like it.
Thanks for posting another great video. 👍🏼
John, you had me hooked after flight number one….Just waiting waiting waiting for HK to make it available. Jim
Yeah buddy!
Awesome job guy's still in ya shorts 😮😂😂😂👌🏼
This was about a month ago. One of the last days of shorts!
Looks great. I am tempted but I had the G2 V1 and this was a nightmare! It was so unpredictable. It would tip over on almost every landing, drop like a stone on a right turn and generally bite you just when you thought things were coming together. I converted it to a twin rotor, a bit like a DB Autogyro and it now flies great. Mind you, the previous version was almost half the price of this one, so is it worth it?
The new helmet looks a lot like the one I designed in 2018 on Thingiverse.
Waiting for mine! Got a few of the extra parts so far. They said January, so hopefully soon! What switch did you assign to the upper blade on/off? Does it matter if that is a 3 position switch rather than 2? Beautiful field by the way!
The gear switch
I know these things are not Gliders and power should be applied during flight - curious how it would handle a dead-stick!!?
That’s a great question! I’m not sure.
Is the Spool up motor on a clutch to allow the blades to run free or are you generating power from the rotor blades. ?
Yes, the rotor has a one way bearing on it. If free spins when the motor is off.
So cool, I'm hoping to maiden mine tomorrow, if winds aren't too crazy -:) So, how does it do in a bit of wind- what were the winds like for this flight? Thanks! ( and I THINK I bought it from clicking your link, if not- sorry!)
The winds each time Ive flown it so far have been light and variable, I do want to try it in more wind to see if I can make it 'hover'.
Have you noticed any difference in handling between left and right turns? I've heard that right turns can be a little trickier with autogyro's.
I haven't noticed anything I can think of. Next time I'll see if I notice a difference.
Very Moonraker.
Please advice, could a 2200 3s fit inside?
No
Are you in Pierce/King County, WA?
No. Up north by the Canadian border.
Hey mate, nice flight! In your experience, is there anything you need to be extra carefull with compared to a fixed wing? Does it behave different? Anything to pay attention to during takeoff/ landing? Im about to fly my G2V2 for the first time and im a bit scared.
I think its easy, but some people have struggled, do not over bank it, I think thats where people have had problems. You must use the rudder to fly it around. If that makes sense.
@@JohnVHRC Yes, totally. Thanks for the quick answer! But in theory, you just do the take off as if its a fixed wing right? About 1/2 to 3/4 throttle and slowly pull on elevator?
@@jdsd_ Pretty much, yes. but just like a helicopter, you have to always fly the tail, and ailerons at the same time, it wont knife edge! I bank a little and use the rudder to come around a turn, but use the ailerons to keep it from over banking and to make it level again.
@@JohnVHRC Alright, thank you very much for your help, will do the first flight in the next days! :)
Lmk how it goes!
I didn't know Auto Gyros have a motor for the main blade
Some do
Is the main motor powered in autogiros, or completely free?
Free spinning, they have a motor to spin them up, then you turn it off, as I demonstrate in the video.
Would you recommend this rc autogyro?
I think it’s great!
enjoy your videos keep them coming
Thank you so much! I appreciate it!
