That's wicked. S4R at the time was Ducati's liquid cooled Super Naked. Ducati were making two Super Nakeds at the time. S4R is very fast. Stunning to look at. Very powerful engine underneath. Very cool. Enjoy the S4R Super Naked. That's a special bike. Ducati didn't make many of them. Like the S2R 1000 Super Naked. It was a limited production run. Was couple of years before the Germans. Audi VW group bought out Ducati. Thank you for such a cool comment. Hopefully we will speak again. Take care :)
Thank you djx3213. Luke Rides had a lot of fun reviewing the Ducati Monster S2R 1000 Super Naked. This was made just before the Germans. Audi VW group bought out Ducati in 2009. Saved Ducati from nearly running out of money. Germans have transformed Ducati. Ducati gained access to German engineering. German electronics. German lessons. German way of engineering. This is among the last of the fully Italian Ducati's. Wow. This is very fast. Among the last of the air cooled Super Nakeds from Ducati. The handling. Steering is Super Naked. She wants to dive into every corner and shot you out the other end like a missile. That stunning 1000cc L Win. Lots of power. Lots of torque. You can cruise in the higher gears. Just open the throttle. And be going very fast. The moment you bring the revs up your gone. Ducati S2R 1000 Super Naked is epic. Uses the second generation of fuel injection from Ducati. All computer controlled. Computer controlled ignition. The build quality is fantastic. Everything feels so well put together. From the fixings to the quality of the materials. Even the fuel tank is plastic. That's right plastic. Not metal. To save weight. Ducati did such a beautiful job with the S2R 1000 Super Naked. To think this was before Audi VW group bought out Ducati. Luke Rides is so proud to be able to make sure the S2R 1000 is remembered. So few of them were sold. As the S2R 800 was cheaper and more popular to buyers at the time. Ducati should be proud of what they created all those years ago. Among the last of the air cooled Super Nakeds. Thank you for commenting djx3213. Hopefully we will speak again. Take care :)
Just bought one of these. not even ridden it yet . t The pride you have in your ownership come across really well. thanks , you've done a good job here
Nice. Thank you. S2R 1000 Super Naked is epic. Luke Rides is keeping en eye out for Termignoni end cans with no baffles. That is the only negative thing with the stunning Ducati Monster S2R 1000 Super Naked is the factory exhaust system from Ducati. Luke Rides knows Ducati did their best but at the end of the day Ducati still had to meet EURO 4 sound and emissions regulations at the time of production. The Factory exhaust system is fairly restrictive. Holds back a lot of the boom and sound waves from that mighty 1000cc Super Naked engine. Trying to find not only the Termignoni end cars with no baffles is very hard and then to find a pair is good condition is even harder. It's the difficulties when having an old Super Naked. Termignoni have moved on to Super Nakeds like the Monster 1200 and Streetfighter V4. Not building systems for the S2R 1000 Super Nakeds any more. Tricky. Still epic Super Naked and Monster S2R 1000 should never be forgotten. It is among the last of the air cooled Super Nakeds. We wouldn't see Super Nakeds like these anymore. Thank you for such a nice comment. Hopefully we will speak again. Take care :)
True. Among the last of the air cooled Super Nakeds. Among the last fully Italian Ducati's. We wouldn't see anymore Super Nakeds like these. It's important Super Nakeds like these are remembered. Not forgotten. The last of an era. Epic motorcycle even today. Thank you for commenting. Hopefully we will speak again. Take care :)
Try finding the high mount version for Ducati S2R 1000 Super Naked. Luke Rides can''t find a pair. Because this is an old Super Naked. Zard and Termignoni have stopped producing full exhaust system. And end cans for the Ducati S2R 1000 Super Naked. As there is no money is supporting an old Super Naked. Zard and Termignoni make their money by supporting the much more modern Ducati's. For S2R 1000 owners it is really tricky to impossible to find even the end cans anymore. Zard Don't seem to do the high mount version where the end cans are stacked on to each other. Like the factory exhaust end cans from Ducati. For me I would go for the Termignoni. Termignoni are Ducati. Termignoni are developed with Ducati. Termignoni is very Ducati. Like Akrapovic is very much Kawasaki. Luke Rides would recommend the Termignoni. Also Zard is not in keeping with Ducati. Ducati used the shotgun stance with the end cans stack on top of each other for a reason. Thank you for commenting. Hopefully we will speak again. Take care :)
Right. Dry clutch rattle is stupid. There is nothing interesting about dry clutch rattle. All that does is take away from the awesome noise and sound of the Super Naked engine. Why would you want dry clutch rattle over the booming sound of that gorgeous 1000cc Ducati Super Naked engine? That makes no sense. Even from the factory Ducati used closed dry clutch cover for the S2R 1000 Super Naked. Not to save money. There is reasoning behind covering the dry clutch cover. Sound deadening. Safety. And so the clutch rattle doesn't take away from the boom of the Ducati Super Naked engine.
Where is the catalytic converter? In my opinion, the first series of 800s could be driven without a catalytic converter, but with the 1,000s it is not possible, the engine is tuned for the catalytic converter bubble.
Good point. Luke Rides found the S2R 1000 Super Naked without it's catalytic converter. The engine runs smoothly and is a happy engine. Good question. The S2R 1000 Super Nakeds did come with catalytic converters when they were new. I don't think this has had the computer remapped. Not sure. It could be being a air cooled engine the engine is more flexible when it comes the back pressure in the exhaust system. Thank you for commenting. Hopefully we will speak again. Take care :)
@@luke_rides I’ve owned my 07 s2r1000 for 5 years or so now. The previous owner had the big stock cats and mufflers removed for an arrow exhaust system. The bike had also been mapped and tuned. Runs amazing. Not very chugging at slow speeds. Very smooth bike compared to my 2001 m900. I enjoy mine so much I doubt I could ever sell it. I will own a s4rs oneday to put next to it. If not that, I’ll settle for an 08 1098 😂
That's cool zacha8934. The S2R 1000 is an amazing air cooled Super Naked. This was made couple of years before Audi VW group. The Germans bought out Ducati. The Germans have transformed Ducati. As Ducati suddenly gained access to German knowledge. German electronics. German computer systems. German experience of how to build a motorcycle. While Ducati got to keep their styling. The way they see how to build a fast engine. The S2R 1000 Super Naked is interesting in what the Italians could do before that happened. Is among the last of the fully Italian Ducati's. That is amazing the previous owner removed the factory exhaust system. My S2R 1000 Super Naked still has the factory end cans. You can tell. A lot of the boom and sound waves that mighty Super Naked engine are being held back. Your very lucky to have S2R 1000 Super Naked with the full arrow exhaust system. Luke Rides is always looking out for full Termignoni system for the S2R 1000 Super Naked. Try finding one that is tidy and a reasonable price. It is very hard. And Termignoni no longer build full systems for the S2R 1000 as Termignoni are making their money building systems for the more modern Ducati's. Doesn't make them any money to continue to support old Super Nakeds like the S2R 1000. And remapped too. Amazing. It shows what Ducati had to do to get the S2R 1000 Super Naked through EURO 4 emission regulations. That you are feeling the difference with a full arrow system and remap. Haha. It's the joys of fuel injection systems and computers. The Monster 900 Super Naked uses carbs. Fuel injection and computers is superior is every way. The computer will make every adjustment to the engine smoother and faster than any carb. All within milliseconds. That is pretty impressive to think early 2000s fuel injection was so new. S4R Super Naked. Nice. or Ducati SuperBike. For comfort yet still having lots of power /torque S4R Super Naked. Speed, handling and being a jet fighter. Warplane on the road and the race track. Try Zard exhausts, they are a high mount with a carbon fibre can on either side.

Funny you say that about the clutch because the dry clutch rattle was why I bought the 1000 over the 800
