The first time, I’ve heard of Freddie was after he’s won the South African Grand Prix in 1983, we had very little coverage in South African news that time, Before that I was still a sheene fan, but became a Spencer fan , even today, I love listening to him in interviews, etc He is so good at speaking and explaining things, He obviously was great, because he was paying attention to things that others would not even considered to make a difference.
I see your point. there is way to much glitz and glamour, but, in my perspective the racing is still there. Although it seems less competitive than ever, I still enjoy it. Moto2 still has very tight races. I became addicted to motorcycle racing 25 years ago while watching AMA flat-track at Ascot park, maybe now i'm just in a world of denial but, I'm always looking forward to Sunday. (Thank you Bruce Brown)
I disagree. True, there was less between the rider and the bike in these days, and their testicular fortitude is unquestionable. But the bike electronics etc... are still on the ragged edge of performance, (that fine line between complete control and chaos) and modern riders still push it to that point.... It's just a different generation.
Back then nobody could jump straight from the 250/350’s to the 500’s and be competive in the first year. Today in MotoGP the step from Moto 2 to MotoGP seems less difficult, and the electronic aids make it easier. Valentino Rossi is the only one in MGP who grew up on fiercefull 2-strokes.
I’m on the hill by the ‘bus stop’chicane. Awesome memories. Thank you for posting
I was there 👍🏻👍🏻
With new renovations of Spa Francorchamps, I hope I can see MotoGP races in this Circuit again

They were going much, much faster than 150/155mph on that long straight, likely touching 180/190mph.
Sheene said they were usually going more like 180-190. Everything was toned down then, like 80 mph speedometers...
Freddy Spencer is racing specialties
Man, this was even before the pit buildings!
Who need pits
500cc in SPA Amazing!!!

KR had to have been pissed when Barry blew by him on privateer equipment 😆
I thought there was discussion about adding this circuit to the Moto GP season again...?
Yes....belgium wants a race
Pour avoir oublié Spencer, sur le 3 CYLINDRES💫❤️
Would be cool to see modern MotoGP bikes making laps at Spa, but too dangerous to race there imo with the horsepower and performance they have now.
Fast Freddie the first win in WGP
❤❤👍
"Obviously head over heels in delight"
Pun very intented!
Wanted to see Morogp here
It's funny how glacial they look going up eau rouge compared to current f1 cars.
Not really, just progress. This was 1982,try watching a race from the 1930's,40's or 50's & compare it to this race.
yeah your right now a day riders aint real its the computer who rides the bike the guys onboard is just public entertainment
>最後にこけてもかっこいい(=^・^=)
