Actually, the previous model is apparently based on Hannah's real-life proportions.
The new one seems to have a slightly different stature. But that could also be due to the thick clothing.

Gonna be honest, I'd need a comparison to know what's different
I think it's "just" a higher-detail version, a lot of the elements of the suit were just flat textures before, like the straps at the front, but now everything is fully modeled (or I'm as blind as you)
@@shirexela5985 You're probably right, I think I read "updated" as "changed" instead of thinking of the more simpler answer of just higher resolution and 3D like you said.
Graphics.
Detail was added everywhere. Like the boots have the buckle straps. The model was also smoothed out. The wrinkles looked more filled with air, on the old model. The helmet to neck ratio was also adjusted. The helmet was pretty big compared to the body. I hope this also means the animations. Mainly the walk and run were improved. Those always looked stupid in FP view.

I just wanted to point out, props to whoever did the build tool spin animation. Doing that kind of kinetics isn't easy, working with an object with a made up center of mass and being able to figure out how the hand responds to the spinning motion to maintain the spin.

Been around from near the beginning on Satisfactory. Seeing 1.0 coming almost feels like watching a child grow up and go out on their own. Coffee Stain's community involvement, especially from Snutt and Jace (he'll always have a place in our hearts) has made us all feel like friends coming to the end of a journey together. It brings excitement but it's also bittersweet.
I have also been around since the pre EA demo week, really looking forward to get the full story :)

@JakeSimmer the pipe announcement was just iconic. The lead up of the community team denying for MONTHS that there was no way we were getting pipes... the dramatic trailer, the epic reveal of the pipes in the coolest way ever 🥲 I miss it

In my mind i want to be in beta forever. The team is giving this game so much good changes. They listen their community and yet. They do all the work we ask/need. It's so refreshing

I have the original model. (I ripped the game files. Don't worry, I wont talk about the big fellow...)
I thought the original was awesome and used it in my first animation project in college.
It taught me ways of 'cheating' to get certain effects. Wether with modeling, modifiers or textures.
And after a particular mistake... How to rig models.
I'll always be sentimental about the early pioneer. (Early bird 🕊️ and all that)
A lot of the early model is shockingly simple for how good it looks.
Though this new one is very different.
In the areas that haven't been changed but still updated. It looks like it has far more complex materials/textures.
Certain areas, (the pockets!) look like they used different techniques to get a better effects.
The different/more muted colours that make the actual color pop. (The belt looks more blue, even though its greyer though that could be the lighting.)
Not to mention the new gloves and helmet! Their pristine!

Well done CSS! Always cool seeing game studios take inspiration from "smaller" creators and actually credit them like this.
Very good work with the new Character. But it also is kinda sad to see the old character model we are all used to get replaced... Keep up the good work and nice to hear that the game is in fact feature complete now!!!

I've always appreciated Satisfactory being one of the few games that makes the default character model female, and I'm glad to see that isn't changing with the updated model. :)

To everyone in the studio, I thank you for this incredible game, you are all amazing people. Thank you for this incredible game. Very much looking forward to 1.0, and many many more hours of pure bliss.
Now we just need a 3rd person mode so we can admire the details! Also loads of people get motion sickness playing 1st person, so PLEASE add a 3rd person support!

Nice! So we get to start right away with a dump truck! Very convenient.
I would still kill for some gender and basic body shape and outfit customization. I don't expect a full on Baulders Gate 3 level character creation system, but just a few options would be nice.
I actually like it as is, because if you look at real space suits and hazmat gear on a person, it can be next to impossible to identify someone's gender when they are in full kit. Furthermore for body shape regardless of gender, realistic they will have sent physically fit people that fall with certain mass requirements. Even if you were on the low or high end of those requirements, once again when you are wearing full kit you aren't really going to see much difference.

hopefully we get character customization. would love to be able to replace the the orange with pink or have similar options to astroneers customization.

There's something I really like about satisfactory's aesthetic
It's the way how everything looks so casual/down to earth and plain industrial, despite being incredibly advanced compared to real life technology
Everything is very Tonka truck. Like 80% power tool, 20% toy.
The banding on that blue wash, though. Needs more dither!
