This song came out in 1970. I prefer to think punk was a necessary reaction to conformity, the hippie attitude of non-involvement while the UK went to hell under Thatcher, and to the prevalence of pretentious arena rock and prog rock and mindless disco music. Punk was, in part, for a call to a return to a DIY ethic not only in music but in culture.

We were blessed to grow up in the 60's and 70's where the music was real.and the musicians were top notch. Not like nowadays with shows like the voice and that stuff where they use pitch correction and auto tune .and play to backing tracks.

I'll gonna take it a step further.....how about idiots taking every by they can find, sampling it,digitally mutilating it,running it through 17.000 pieces of processing equipment,,putting it to a drum machine, using pro-tools to slam it all together,,getting some diva du jour with little to no singing ability and taking that lousy voice and digitally processing to the point that it sounds like some alien to sing(ugh) to this cacophony of nonsense that sounds like a garbage truck running through hells half acre, master it through again,pro-tools,putting it out and call it the next big thing...well,that's an insult and slap in the face to anyone who's ever busted their asses off learning to play an instrument,,practicing until their fingers bled, learning scales and techniques and joining a BAND....yes..I'm very passionate and pissed off because I did this and been doing it for 42 years because I was raised this was the ONLY way to make MUSIC......and I take great issue with this...my point,:bands like focus and all the other awesome bands you've ever heard worked their asses off to become class A musicians and singers and to have their legacies of great music reduced to relative obscurity while computer generated shit rules the world and people who don't know any better....that's a sin.....

well..I thought I was the omega man when it came to this..thank you ..you vindicated me and my views on music ..I was born into the business ..my dad(rip) was a rock singer that started off singing on the street corners of new haven,ct. with such doo wop artists such as the 5 satins and the nutmegs..he put out 16 singles and two albums with one single" she gives me fever" selling 255.000 copies...not bad..he took me since age 5 to every rehearsal, gig and recording sessions at the esteemed record plant nyc..I stood in the same studio that jimi hendrix recorded electric ladyland in..I was in the ",roomful of mirrors" and that was my education at 15 he got me my first electric and I picked it up and taught myself how to play and play well. because if I sucked I had the biggest critic in the world watching my every move..he saw me doing two handed tapping and asked me where I picked that up and I told him I wanted to be just like eddie..he said why put all your efforts into trying to play like someone else when all you'll ever be is 2nd best cause he's already 1st..it was a game changer ..I buried my dad in july and I lost my hero...my point: that is why I'm so fucking passionate when it comes to music...I've seen and was taught by the best how music should be made .and it breaks my ass to no end to see these horses asses make a mockery of you ,me and all the other people who ever broke their balls to hone their CRAFT...yes craft..so with that said I just wanted to give you some insight as to what fans my flames ....peace and keep listening to the greatest music ever created: rock and roll..long live it..🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤😈😈😈😈😈😈😈

@@rogerkoob9904 Lucky you for being able to hang out with your dad in the studios. My grandfather was a drummer in big bands in the 30's and 40's . Also worked in vaudeville playing drums and doing sound effects . He taught me drums but I moved on to bass . Been playing bass and singing in original and working cover bands in New England since the mid 70's when it was 5 or 6 nights a week , 52 weeks a year.. That gradually declined to 1 to 2 nights a week by the 2000's. Still in 2 bands playing bass , Stick and singing, doing covers which were both booked pretty solid for the entire year of 2020 until china virus. Have done a few outdoor shows and have 2 left . Then wait to see what happens. I do think the same as you as far as the lack of talent in the music industry these days.. Back in the 80's albums had to have warning labels on them that stated caution , adult language or something to that effect . Nowadays they should have warning labels saying "Warning , No actual musicians were used in the production of this recording. Hang in there and keep on making REAL MUSIC with your hands . Not computers.

@@rogerkoob9904 Real musicians still learn the hell out of their instruments that, but the labels producers control what they think kids want to hear. Computerization lead to “anyone can do this mentality.” But it’s not as easy as the think and they’re forced to use programmed loops that tend to give everything a homogeneous sound. Add to the fact that their are literally only 3 people who write most of the songs on the planet everything sounds the same.
And since there was a complete lack of originality sampling ran wild until the original artists of the 60’s and 70’s started suing the artists of the ‘90’s.
It’s okay to look to the past for inspiration, as every single work of art including on the planet is based on something someone else did in the past. 50 year old music and reaction videos may be our only salvation from the garbage that permeates shows like American Idol.
Back in the day though backing musicians were just as common as they are today. Remember the Wrecking Crew? World class musicians cranking out hits throughout the 1960s and ‘70’s for hundreds of songs and groups, the groups often just add their voice.
