Hi Kenichi & Ilja! This is Yusuke from Karate Dojo waKu. Thanks for using our footage! I was wondering if we can do some kind of collaboration video. Let me know what you think! To the viewers: If there is something you'd like us to do, please reply to this message!
No doubt this is the best video about this topic. Every fundamental part has been presented in a simply and clear way and every exercise is very good to improve basics! Good work guys, cheers from Italy!
Excellent video with several good learning points. Even though I may not comment on all your videos, I like them for the same reasons. Like many others here, I'm a beginner for life and appreciate your tips, demos and quality of Karate. ✌️🙂
thanks for the good explanation! I'm going to try it, I have the green belt level (Shotokan) and I am often told by trainers that I am pushing too much out of my shoulders. I need to use my hip more they say 😀
Great tutorial. Have you got any tips for keeping the hips centred under the body when moving/striking from that parallel ready stance? I’m finding that my hips sway a lot, which I’m really struggling to eliminate 😫.
Hi When the hip is rotated around the center axis, one half of the body moves forward and the other backwards. (Revolving door effect) But if you move the hip around the axis on one side, much more energy goes forward. (Door). If the back leg is bent, - so you stand too low, the connection, foot - hip, is bad. You are then not well connected to the ground. When a blow hits, the rear leg should be rigidly stretched. Then the energy runs DIRECTLY to the hip without loss. The back should be strongly stretched, (chest out) otherwise you lose a lot of energy on the way from the hip to the shoulder. When the blow hits, the tip of the elbow should point downwards, i.e. the shoulder should be "closed". With the stretching movement of the arm, the biceps MUST be COMPLETELY relaxed. If the biceps are too short, it must be stretched a lot. If all these parameters are adhered to, you use the soil as a mass and not only use your own weight. You should have a rigid connection to the ground for a short time when hitting. I kindly greet you Karl Feierabend, 5. Dan Aikido and 5. Dan, Jun Shihan, Shitoryu-Shukokai Karate, 1. I just saw something weird on youtube were in a person is showing a reverse hip movement before the punch lands. In other words the hips rotates twice in one punch.
How about ex. Sensei Naka when he is teaching and doing this with a small "counter movement" before you start to turn the hip to support the punch? Im not sure if Im explaining this counter force thing correctly but its a known thing in many sports if not all. Thats how Im practising it because its just more powerful that way.
