Why? Because when you are relaxed, your mind, body weight and energy drops down, connects you with the ground. Additionally the ground sends its energy, support, upward. Using this force in attack, it is doubbled. All masters of all arts are relaxed = grounded. Then the mystery comes out and makes wonders in the eyes of ordinary folks. @@IgorZeler Part of this isnt really described in enough Physical Detail... rather, more of a Mental description thats somewhat Mystical. This is because many of the elders didnt really know the mechanics... but could feel the effects. Try this simple thing. Extend one of your arms out in front of you, at shoulder level. Tighten your arm muscles, and your entire bodys muscles.. to make you very Rigid. Now... have a person stand to the side of you... and simply push downwards with their palms, on top of your wrist-bone.. towards the floor. If you remain stiff and rigid... they would easily be able to effect your entire structure... easily causing you to lean forwards... coming up off of your heels. Try again... but this time... do NOT tighten your arms, and keep your body as relaxed and "Heavy" as possible. You want just barely enough muscle force... to hold your body in position. If you relaxed even a hair more... you would fall to the floor like a pile of Jello. Allow a slight bend in your knees, and a very slight bend at your elbow joint. Try to make it so that you FEEL heavy... as if you were wearing sopping wet clothing. Your goal... is to Unify your Relaxed Body Mass... to make your body act like a very large bag of water (Dead-Weight). You also want to rely more on your skeletal structure, and your tendons.. rather than with tightened muscles... Now, once you feel this heavy / relaxed state... Have the person try again. As you feel them pushing gradually heavier and heavier (always ramp up SLOWLY for this attempt), start to allow the forces to go from your arm, through your body, down into your legs... and right into the floor, through the bottoms of your feet. Make sure that you can FEEL that the line of Pressure and Power... and that its reaching your feet / floor... WITHOUT having to resist with any Tense Muscular based strength. Think of your limbs, like flexibly tree branches. If you push against a trees branch.. it will allow you to bend it, without easily breaking... due to its flexibility. If you were trying to bend a thin stick that had seriously dried out.. it would have lost its flexibility, and would easily SNAP in half, with very little effort. Now... when someone pushes forces into you... you naturally are allowing your slightly bent knees, to mildly bend a hair more... under severe pressures. The knees are going to act like shock absorbers / springs, or "Bows" (meaning: like a bow and arrow). You probably are not doing this bending consciously... its more of an effect of the naturally relaxed body.. thats responding like a Spring / Bow. Compression, equalizing the forces, that its being Charged up with. Your tendons... slightly Stretching Internally... from the forces... and storing that energy up... as well as helping to keep directing that energy towards the floor... but in a non-rigid way. The body still conducts the energy... but in a relaxed "Tree Branch" sort of way. Heck, Trees in total... are a perfect example. A living tree, is quite flexible. Even the thick trunk, can bent, and twist. This helps prevent very strong winds, from easily uprooting it... and knocking it over. However, trees that are no longer living.. and have completely dried out... are much more easily broken, and or are easily Uprooted. The limbs of a Tree, can still be enough to transmit push energy to the main trunk... but not without some major losses, due to the flexing of the (relaxed) materials. Another example.. is trying to Push a very heavy and full File Cabinet... vs.. a 400 lbs Blob of semi-soft Jello, or Silicone (ballistic jelly). Because the file cabinet is Stiff, its easy to push on its front face... and get it to slide backwards. However... the Jello / Silicone, starts to absorb your hands into it... and flexes / bends as you try to push hard into it. If you push near the top.. the top part might bend backwards, leaving the bottom part.. completely static. And even if you try to push from near the bottom... the material is still very absorbent... still making it a MUCH harder feat... than if the material was RIGID. You see... when you Tighten your Muscles.. you are Locking your Skeletal System, into a very Rigid state. This makes it very easy for an OP to be able to move and manipulate you. A mere fingers pressure to the side of your arm, can thus easily lift you off of your heels, or rotate your entire body. When you rely on your flexible Tendons... you have a whole other Kind of Strength. Especially if you have developed "Super Tendons" from Internal Based arts practices, like slow + relaxed "Tai Chi" Form work. This is one of the "Open Secrets" of Soft / Internal Arts, like Tai Chi, Xingyi, and many more. This technology was probably in many of the other harder style artforms... at the highest levels of their Training... BUT... due to corruptions over long periods of time... a lot of this higher level knowledge, has often been Lost.
I have great respect for Naka sensei. That's said, for this video, I'm sorry to say that for me there is nothing new. I saw thoses static exercises for many and many years (37 years). "The master we can't lift" was the favorite demonstration of a now old Japanese karateka. Once you found the trick to do it (the good relaxation), it is very easy to do it. It is a thing to do it in static (and the same for not bend the Zuki and show a strong position), it is another to be relaxed enough when you move and fight. Martial arts and fighting is movement, not be like a statue. I don't tell these exercises are of none interest, but i tell that for learning fighting skills, it as not a great sense. 4:00 "Both are the same zenkutsu-dachi. Well, not exactly. The difference is that, in the weak position, he didn't move the front foot forward, thus the back leg has less extension. By moving the front leg forward, the back leg is more extended (the distance between the feet is greater), thus you can resist better to the push. Same starting zenkutsu-dachi, but not at the instant you strike. Same at 5:30 By keeping your body stiff, your legs keep straight with your body when lifted, thus acting like a pendulum which helps your partner lifting you. If you keep your body and leg relaxed, legs will stay vertical while your upper body leans backward. This is harder to lift. Those differences may be internal as you feel them, but definitely physically external.

I then took a single step forwards, and at the same time.. sprung my arm forwards... sending the dude sailing backwards through the air... with him crashing to the floor about 12 feet away from me... and he continues to slide on the smooth flooring, about another 3 feet... from the mere momentum. He was so impressed with this demo... that he quickly became one of my few Private students. I mainly do Wing Chun... But I also learned some methods from arts like Tai Chi. I understand you. But I can understand you bcs I have learned to do it without anyone giving me a lecture. Bcs if anyone did, I wouldn't be able to act on it anyway. That's why none of the higher rank Japanese Senseis I ever witnessed teaching bothered telling much even if their English was ok. "Here, Oi Zuki" Hwuf! "Ichi! Haa. no good yet. Here, Oi Zuki" - over and over, until you could follow. All what their method of teaching was: "I DO, YOU FOLLOW", without lectures in biomechanics, physics, or whatever.
@@KasumiModa Teaching is not "Lecturing". Details are given, to make the student Aware. Most people can replicate SIMPLE Interactions... merely by looking. However.. the More COMPLEX arts, like the "Internal Arts", you cant fully "SEE" everything that is happening... with your eyes. For example.. If I was tightening my abdomen, and I was wearing a shirt that was covering my abs... you wouldnt be able to See that I was tightening it. A LOT of the Highest Level technology has been LOST, because of poor Communication, and from a lack of full understanding of the teachings. One very specific example... is the specialized breathing, that USED to be taught in the Chinese arts. When you try to learn these same arts today... in the USA... most of the teachers here often will no longer be teaching the proper Traditional Breathing methods. They are often either not teaching any breathing at all... or they have adopted the "Teeth-Hissing" MMA/SPORT method. If you want to Hear what the real deal sounds like, search "Chen Xiaowang Fajin", and listen to his breath noises, as he executes. The breath is much Deeper, with a MUCH greater Volume of air being moved (and moved much Faster). Thats not even covering the other breathing exercises, that increase your Lung Capacity. And the Internal Muscles that develop from specialized breathing methods... that cant be developed using standard exercises. And How important these specialized breaths, are critical to your Iron Body conditioning, to create tissues that have much greater circulation channels. In time, that will lead to you being able to use that additional blood, like a Hydraulic Shield... giving you even greater impact protection. Im just Brushing on these things... Where as it could take a Book worth of Explanations, to fully convey all of the reasons, benefits, etc. But many people today, are WILLFULLY IGNORANT. They believe they either know everything... or that their Intuitions and Assumptions are "Good Enough". Even if someone gives them the REAL answers... they refuse to accept them, because they are so wrapped up in their own Assumptions, and their own Egos... to even Pay attention.. or to accept that they are wrong. Now... a good teacher can convey some of the higher level things, via "Tough". But that still has to be done In-Person. And even then... the student still might not fully understand all of the details. Higher Level Truths, are FAR more important, than a persons Ego Bruising. We have already lost way too much knowledge, since the Industrial Revolution... and its only been getting worse and worse, every passing year.
Blessings for the new year to everyone in 2025. Health and long life to all. May the Lord bless our training and God bless Japanese men for refining karate to the beautiful combat art that it is.

With respect, but such a shame a great sensei resorts to simple parlour tricks. The explanations are bullshido and I use them in the dojo as a fun trick with kids. For example the centre of gravity nonsense against the tsuki is not so much about what the student is doing, but much more what the sensei is doing differently. Try it and see. Disappointing.

it is not a show, if you want to be a martial artist one day and compete at an international level that small thing can be an advantage, I don't understand why you have that hate in you, life can be really tough, you have good inside I can tell you that, don't be like the people who hurt you, be yourself and don't get angry nothing good comes of it except it more problems, hope you have a great day every day
@@Abocus404 It's just bullshit mate. It's that simple. You're being lied to.
@whatilearnttoday5295 can I know if you are practicing any martial arts: bjj ,mma etc...
Muita técnica e concentração....top d+ OSSS
спасибо
Danke.
Was machen seine "Karate Enkel"? Die meisten drehen den Ellenbogen zur Seite. Im Shotokan das Gleiche usw..
❤ beautiful 😊
Happy new year🙏
Hello, thank you for showing all these arts on RUclips. I have a question, does a book explaining these invisible aspects exist, or a website ?
와 세밀하고 전문적입니다!!
This is amazing
All magic shows are amazing. What's he selling?

I love karate
Part of this isnt really described in enough Physical Detail... rather, more of a Mental description thats somewhat Mystical. This is because many of the elders didnt really know the "Internal Mechanics" ...but still could Observe and Feel the effects. Also, the subconscious mind, is often performing the proper physical interactions... without you consciously knowing what it different, and how it actually works...
I read the book from the beginning until the end untirely in the past.
Blessings for the new year to everyone in 2025. Health and long life to all. May the Lord bless our training and God bless Japanese men for refining karate to the beautiful combat art that it is.
very interesting hny
WOW !!!! 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
Ki energy exercises?
The first one is mysterious.
Why does it work to drop heals

With respect, but such a shame a great sensei resorts to simple parlour tricks. The explanations are bullshido and I use them in the dojo as a fun trick with kids. For example the centre of gravity nonsense against the tsuki is not so much about what the student is doing, but much more what the sensei is doing differently. Try it and see. Disappointing.
