Thank you for that info. When I get my first boat I'll know what to do to change out a prop in the make sure my prop don't have any line brass incited the back gears.

I saw a yamaha dealer on here use the plastic wrench and a torque wrench so you dont really need a plastic wrench right? thanks for sharing!

Manufacturers seem to really like larger motors...you know, they give them big props.

Wow no cotterpin or reverse threads? Yeah I'd check it often as well, soon as I hit the lotto🤣👍🎣

It's good to change the cotter pin every so often too. I learned the hard way & lost a stainless steel prop, because my cotter pin gave way, through stress, habitual reuse (bad idea, btw), or corrosion. Lucky, that I was within trolling motor distance to my dock, so I wasn't stranded. Hopefully, they'll soon drop the lake level to do maintenance on the dam, so that maybe, I can recover it.

No cotter pin? No nut locker?
Yep. I'd be checking every 15 minutes...

Use Mercury 2-4-C grease on the splines after cleaning the old grease off....also check that you dont have any wobble by spinning the prop or you could have a bent prop shaft that can compromise your lower unit over time..

Please advise I have had 2 yea I said 2 fury propeller 24 pitch on my 250 mercury throw 1 blade off at top speed . Mercury didn't warranty neither and they are over 700 a peice.. neither prop hit nothing just broke blade off.. about 6000 rpms at top speed on z21 nitro. Can anyone explain why this has happened to me twice now about a year apart?

@@Irishfishingtours how did the fury prop break and was you wide open when it happened? The first time they said u must of hit something. It was clearly I didn't hit nothing.. the second time same thing.. show them 2 broken props with 1 blade that broke in the identical spot and now they they are scratching their head.. still no explanation.

I’ve thrown 3 in 1 year and all were warranty covered… That’s very odd… All 3 were 4 blade furys

Using a torque wrench to loosen a nut gave me cancer. Even if it was already loose for demo purposes.

He probably doesn't know what a regular ratchet is. All he has or knows is a torque wrench. That long handle makes it easier.

You don’t have a pin in the prop but?

Typically you wouldn't use a calibrated instrument like a torque wrench to break torque.
