Good video, but a couple of corrections/additions: - "You have ability to hide in crates and closets or hide bodies in them". That's how it works in Hitman 2016. In Blood Money you can only hide in closet and only hide bodies in crates. - Notoriety generally only kicks in if you stand in front of a guard for an extended period of time, or if you max it out people can randomly start instantly recognizing you which is very annoying. But yeah, in practice it means next to nothing. - The newspapers also contain articles about the coup story, I'd argue that's where the bulk of it is told. The mission recaps are far less interesting. - I'd argue the tutorial is one of the worst ones ever as while it teaches the mechanics, it doesn't teach you how to think like hitman in a sandbox mission. At worst it does the opposite. - Technical issues: Limit the framerate to 60 and I'm willing to bet most of them go away, at least the invisible walls.
yeah that first point was poorly worded on my part. I definitely see where you are coming from when talking about death of a showman maybe i am just too blinded by nostalgia lol
One of my favorite parts of the game was the newspaper. Once I exposed myself so much on the ship mission, that I was identified as Agent 47 on the paper.
That was the best thing. I fed everyone to the crocodiles expecting it to be reported but no… I really wished the future games would incorporate better newspaper reporting. But instead that feature is gone…. Most of the dark humour is gone… the theme is more special agent like than contract killer like. Very disappointing for me personally.
@@kchuen I really miss the dark, bleak and sometimes oppressing atmosphere of the old Hitman games. The crime-thriller vibe, the grey morality. All gone. Now it becomes another generic action spy game. Yeah the new games have great mechanics and all that, but the feel is totally different. The locations are huge and packed with possibilities, but after awhile, it just feel repetitive. Same way to electrocute someone, same way to poison, same way to drown someone in their own piss... I recall people having issues with how 47 acts in this game. Considering how he kills the guy delivering that letter and how dismissive he is towards Diana among other things. For me though, it makes sense from a character development standpoint. First game has him discovering that he's not human like everyone else and was created to be the ultimate killing machine. Second game has him try and reform himself, only for his reputation to catch up with him and nearly costing the life of his closest friend, so he abandons his life at the Church and tells himself never to trust anyone. Contracts has him facing a near death experience which only served to harden his resolve. By Blood Money, he all but abandoned who he was back in SA and fully immersed himself in his life as an assassin. It's as he said, "I can do whatever I'm paid to." He did have that pet canary showing that deep down, he still had a human side to him. When he was potentially about to be discovered at his hideout though, he snapped its neck without showing any emotion. And by the end, he kills not just Cayne, Henderson and a bunch of FBI agents, but a priest who was there as well. The same kind of man 47 admired the most. All to wrap up loose ends and not be traced. It's all really sobering in a way.
Tbh, it makes 47 an incredibly complex character when you look at his full arc but at the same time i cant help but feel like perhaps things didnt have to be this way for him

I found one rather hilarious, I got a bad rating on the wedding level and the paper said they thought Agent 47 was gay for being clean and nicely dressed.
You’ve run into quite a few technical issues during your playthroughs of the series, and I believe the fix you’re looking for is framerate. Many older games, such as Hitman, have various functionalities directly tied to framerate and trying to play at anything above 60 starts breaking things. @@Metalcnotoriety has a lot of effect if you play on professional difficulty. Newspapers will appear on tables and guards would run up to them to check the photo once they see you. Civilians will freak out and yell- you are that killer from the news
My argument to why the notoriety system was in fact NOT a dud: Less skilled players actually do play the game like terrorists/super aggressively. Those players WILL feel the impact of notoriety gained throughout previous levels. The game will become more difficult to them. The feature still adds another dimension to a game that already has some good depth and therefore, should be commended in this instance.
The only real issue I had with it was that it didn't cost too much to get rid of it, relatively speaking. However, it did serve to reinforce how important being discreet was and to kill any witnesses who saw you. As well as stealing camera recordings of you. The game actively punishes you for not doing any of that. You either lose out on money for upgrades by paying people to look the other way, or you run the risk of getting caught more easily in subsequent levels. Even if at the end of the day, it's pretty much a non-factor if you're trying to get Silent Assassin in every level, I still think it was a cool system and it served its purpose well enough.
7:40 I think dishonored did it right with its chaos system. Want to kill a bunch of people quiet or loud? Go ahead but it will make levels more hectic. Rewards players for not killing everyone but also kinda sucks because a lot of the powers and items in the game are meant for killing
Imagine listening to your fan base while making a game, and then having that game become, barely arguably, the BEST in the entire series. Who'd have thunk?
@@lonelywanderer3558 I find the level design and variety of things to do in the new trilogy a lot better than BM. 7:25 I think the point of notoriety is to incentivize new players to be better at stealth, instead of being trigger-happy.
Yeah but the problem is that notoriety has almost no impact so there’s not much reason to fear having it grow
@@Metalcnotoriety has a lot of effect if you play on professional difficulty. Newspapers will appear on tables and guards would run up to them to check the photo once they see you. Civilians will freak out and yell- you are that killer from the news
I still feel now that Blood Money is the most complete Hitman game. Game mechanics wise.
Great video
Great Video. Thanks.
Best game and second best soundtrack of the series
0:31 special cameras placed around are recording the exact position if someone gave a fuck
Imagine listening to your fan base while making a game, and then having that game become, barely arguably, the BEST in the entire series. Who'd have thunk?
better than the current trilogy? Sorry, I never played BM back in the day, and the controls are super janky?
@@lonelywanderer3558 I find the level design and variety of things to do in the new trilogy a lot better than BM. I think BM has a lot of nostalgia factor behind it as it tends to be most peoples introduction to the series (it was mine and I played it a lot) but I just find the newer games better in, honestly, almost every way.
Game ran excellently on PS5 when I just recently played it
I'm pretty sure it's from metal gear solid but is the bgm playing at around 9:45 from mgs2 or mgs3?
eyyy he's baaaack
I've never had any of the bugs you spoke of around the 11 to 12-minute mark. In fact, I've never even heard of them.
0:30 Is this a Polsih reference :D
Sadly
The best Hitman Game 🔥 been playing it since 2008. Still do now!
Ah, the age old problems of "it runs too fast on modern machines". Always cap your frame limit folks.
Reminds me of the time I tried to play Privateer 2: The Darkening, and found that it was running at 200x speed and I died as soon as I entered space, murdered by pirates who zoomed around like mosquitos.
