- Get ready for the hottest season finale of Heat Eaters yet, infused with Italian heat! This isn't just a spin on your Nonna's tomato sauce - it's a sizzling Italian feast that delivers a punch hotter than Mount Vesuvius.
Our journey kicks off in the Bronx at the iconic Arthur Avenue, where host Esther Choi and Bronx-bred chef Christian Petroni-a local celebrity familiar to everyone on the block- explore the spicy realms of Calabrian cuisine. Paying respect through historical landmarks, they taste-test various spicy cured sausages from Calabria Pork Store and try the renowned Calabrese-style egg, potato, and porchetta sandwiches from Mike's Deli-a cultural cornerstone since the 1940s. Their journey culminates with a spicy cannoli with a fiery twist from Cayenne and Calabrian chilis.
To cap off her adventure, Esther jets to Brooklyn to join forces with Binging with Babish at his home studio. Together, they unleash the formidable flavor of Carolina Reapers from Smokin' Ed to make “Spaghetti all’Assassina,'' also known as “Assassin’s Pasta”-a dish so alarmingly hot, legend says a patron named it that after suggesting the chef intended to end his life with the excessive spice. Finally, they top the pasta with 'nduja spicy meatballs infused with Trinidad Scorpion Powder that might just be Camera Guy Bill's final feast.

Christian Petroni, and all the Italian chefs in the video were so warm, welcoming, and gentlemanly. I love the pride they take in their food and how they love sharing it with others. These locations will be added to my go to list on my next visit to NYC.

This show gets better and better with every episode, I'm pretty sure that Esther and Camera guy Bill's spice tolerances are insanely high because of all of the spicy stuff that they eat on this show, can't wait for season 3.

As an Italian, that market looked lovely and you could tell the peopel there actually cared. Also that porchetta looked fantastic.
As for the recipe, let's just say you do know how to bastardize Italian recipes.
And please everyone, try nduja at least once in your life. It's THAT good
Facts facts, Nduja is one of those things like nice Mortadella that just becomes a staple once you know it exists.

It was really nice to see Christian in this context! He seemed totally at home and not showy at all.
@@alimon89 agreed! Most shows like this, when the guest tours the host around their neighborhood, it feels more like they try to take in the role of host. Here, Christian felt as much as though they were just hanging out in his backyard as anything I recall seeing. It was really fun!

Calabria is a region in the south of Italy, one of the poorest in whole Italy and mostly subjugated by the local mafia but the honest ones have to be supported and traditional cuisine is oh so wonderful

Love all those hanging sausages. I bet the smell is amazing. Those sandwiches look awesome. Where can I get those meatballs? Nothing better than hot peppers releasing their oils into the air. So spicy Andrew had to keep going back in, and poor Bill is even more of an addict to the heat.
