Forgive me if I'm a bit all over the place in this one. It was a rough week of parenting. But like I said, I'm showing up here in grateful repayment of your support! Thanks for watching. Oh a point of clarity: 4:18 This option doesn't turn the outline on or off in passthrough, it adds a glow to the existing outline around your hands. In case the b-roll was confusing there. Cheers
Thanks for posting an informative yet Concise video. People seem to really like the short format. But I know that sometimes you have to make a video as long as it needs to be. By the way, I am using dictation on The quest 3 to post this.
I'm not a fan of Meta's dominance in the VR space, but I really like that your channel focuses on practical use cases and spatial computing. Makes me wish someone would make a channel that did this for HTC's Vive XR Elite. They definitely have a smaller userbase and expensive product, but I think the competition is important for the market nonetheless.
@@BrianPeiris Agreed. competition keeps it alive. Just look what the Apple Vision Pro has done to the Quest. I think the Quest 2 & 3 caught “lightning in a bottle” and was able to deliver heaps of functionality at a very doable price for most pockets. Other headsets would have wowed the masses if they just gave it a shot. Honestly I hope manufacturers like HTC and others take advantage of the open Meta Horizon OS. I love competition but not so much a fan of fragmentation across experiences. Thanks for watching! I plan to cover gaming too just trying to figure out where I fit in that niche.
Great vid! Thanks so much for contrast tip. Keep up the great work with vids..... your personality and voice are made for video so only a matter of time before you've got a big influx of subs. 👍👍
@@ZorkVirtualReality thanks! Yeah the one you heard in the video was Huberman Lab. It’s not flashy at all but I just like that he keeps everything science based when it comes to health and development. Less “made up stuff” like in other podcasts on the same subject. The other one is Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett. His story was inspiring and he’s had some great guests. Although some guests are sensational and sometimes just say things to counter facts so be selective when choosing episodes ok that one. I’ll let you know if I stumble on more worth sharing!
Thank you for the contrast tip! I noticed when increasing the contrast just a smidge it does wonders on fixing the over exposure I experienced when using my phone.
I just got the Quest 3, my first VR headset. I'm super excited to learn and experience everything. My only tiny disappointment, which I hope will improve, is that the passthrough is quite grainy.
@@scottj2895 Yes, you’re actually seeing the passthrough at a great state, it used to be REALLY bad. If you’ve on v67 or newer its may be as good as we get until the quest 4. The contrast trick is this video does help a bit. One thing I’ll mention is that passthrough is really just to see things around you room to ‘mix’ the reality I don’t think the quest 3 was focused on it as a super clear option to work through but they’ve done their best with the hardware we have. Honestly I don’t notice it once i start using productivity apps or even mixed reality games because the passthrough is in my periphery. Enjoy the new Quest 3!! Exciting to see so many newcomers to the VR/MR space. There’s a lot to love about this nifty little device.
I cant see my phone or anything in passthrough on my quest 3. I literally just got it yesterday and its super blurry. Is there a setting i need to change? My passthrough doesnt look like yours
@@TheFayeFairy hey there! So recorded footage always looks a bit better than in headset. Because your eyes are so close to the displays. But make sure your quest is updated to at least version 69 or above before assessing the pass through quality. The contrast trick I mention in this video helps ok top of the latest improvements to the OS. I can see my phone pretty well but it’s not perfect. Are you on quest 3 or 3S?
I'm using the Quest 3 now! It is quite immersive. It will take some time before I know how to navigate this headset. I noticed that if I'm watching content, My hand will be stuck in virtual form Obscuring my view.?. There's still a lot that I don't know how to do but this is an amazing VR /MR Headset!!!
@@moderncontemplative congrats on the new quest. If your hands get in the way too much while watching content I recommend just turning off hand tracking and using your controllers, you can just sit down the controller and enjoy your movie or whatever.
@@TheConstruct_VR I’m really impressed, even though the lenses are not OLED. Blacks are black enough and the colors seem accurate. Everything appears crisp and clear. The view is gorgeous and I honestly don’t even really miss a tandem OLED. I have the iPad Pro M4. But this Q3 is a much more capable and immersive device. I truly thank you for your professionalism, and thorough reviews because, you helped me make this purchase 🤛🏾👍🏾
I don't know if its just me but Im finding with 67/68, if you put your controllers down for a long time whilst using the browser, you have hand tracking ok, but you cant wake the controllers up again unless you put the headset into standby for a minute or so. I notice the keyboard often gets lost underneath another window too. It's good otherwise.
Actually i noticed that glitch too. I’m not sure if the controller isn’t waking, actually i think it’s a bug in 68 where the pointer disappears. Try to look closely, you’ll notice that things are still being highlighted but there’s no pointer. Hitting the standby button off/on brings the pointer back. We need to give 68 some time this is early PTC I’m sure those bugs will get squashed.
@@ShadonicX7543 the 3S’s fresnel lenses are tricky, chances are you can’t look down at your phone because the edges of those lenses are fuzzy. Didn’t not help to increase the contrast as mentioned in this video? There’s not much you can do other than tweaking the contrast and brightness until it looks about as good as you want it. Also with fresnel lenses I would recommend a halo strap so you can get the 3S situated on your face just right to keep your eyes in the center for maximum clarity.
@@TheConstruct_VR hmm now that you mention it I do feel as if after I've worn them for a while things seem to get a big blurrier for some reason. I don't think it's fog, could it be it not being in the right position? If so is it worth it to get a different strap? @@TekiTeacher210 Totally!! But as I think about it, it would be hard to pull off.
