So glad you talked about that corrugated metal building. Betty and I were standing in front of it trying to figure out what it was, it looks like it should be a disused chair lift or something. We were even looking out to see if we could see where it used to go.
Thank you for sharing this journey.Ancient Anatolia is the birthplace of the Armenians and the deities they honored. There are many parallels of the Gods, Aramazd with Zeus, Anahit with Artemis, Vahagn with Heracles, Astłik with Aphrodite, Nane with Athena, Mihr with Hephaestus, Tir with Apollo. Where it all began goes way back, and the Tepe observatories and fertility sites are clues to a great genesis of consciousness.
@@SonsuzNefer This place was built before the Abrahamic religions, polytheism was normal throughout the world. Or did you just get bitter because Armenians were mentioned?
Ok but can we stop calling eastern turkey “anatolia” anatolia is the peninsula. Just say eastern turkey (or armenian highlands when fitting, ofcourse not all of it is armenian highlands) In this vid he kept saying “greek, persian and anatolian influences” but anatolia is not a country or culture, he should have said armenian but the turks would have probably been to butthurt.
Btw aramazd and anahit come from the persian Ahura-Mazda and Anahita. Armenia addopted zoroastrism when they became a vassal under the rule of Cyrus. So a few centuries before the greek influences where brought in by Alexander. Before the conquest by cyrus they had other names for their gods but I forgot
Haven't heard about this site, it's absolutely amazing! 😮 The fact that it's located in such a close proximity to Tiger and Euphrates rivers, the statues and especially the mysterious and inaccessible burial chamber blow my mind
I love this, fantastic historical content. I have always wanted to travel and visit ancient sites and learn about their cultural significance, someday I'll get there but for now this will do!
Such an interesting point about iconoclasm! Another example: what Soviet Russia did with the cultures in the countries they occupied. I'm from Latvia and we've lost countless artefacts, pagan religious traditions, and countless everyday traditions from our ancestors. I'm sure it's similar in other Soviet occupied countries as well.
Afghanistan is a good example, because of multiple stages of iconoclasm. They had these enormous statues then the faces where covered then defaced then the heads where taken off and one day the rest of the body disappeared and we only have photos with the defaced statues. The taliban where responsible for most of the destruction but the Russian’s and the American’s weren’t always careful
Interesting, I live on an Island where the neighboring island's peak is 2351 Meters, or 7,713 feet. Just slightly higher than this mountain, seeing how your view is I think I also have to finally scale that mountain, it doesn't have stairs though, it's a bit rougher.
Your theme song is so soothing. It builds up, then drops to a new point; then builds up to reach the same fate... As if to explain the difficult but interesting journey to uncover the past.
I'm loving the new intro to the series!! Super slick and also very useful for neurodivergent folks like me who have trouble thinking of periods of history in relation to one another
I am thoroughly impressed with this series so far! Amazing quality while retaining that characteristic Milo charm. I could imagine watching this in a world history class taught by a particularly cool teacher lol

Hi Milo. Would you consider doing a video on Cyprus’s archeological sites and their significance? I am of Cypriot descent and remember going to Amathus and Kourion when I was too young to appreciate being there. I know Cyprus has a long history due to being rich in copper, strategically located and religiously important as the birthplace of Aphrodite. Would you school us please?
Great work and being on the spot in such locations adds so much more flavour in any video. Commagene was also the name of the region(in greek Κομμαγηνή). So, it could also be like a deified personification of the realm's wealth and abundance (Tyche-Τύχη=fortune, luck). Also, for the animals present there, lion can be paired with Hercules, eagle with Zeus. The eagle could also be a nod to the Roman allegiance of the kingdom at the time.
Hi Milo! I know it's common for burials to face east towards the rising sun. But I wondered if there are cultures where we can roughly see the time of year they were buried if they faced the rising sun exactly. Because this varies throughout the year. What are your (or anyone else's) thoughts on this?
Great video, but I'm going to have to give you a B- due to the fact that you only referred to the divinities by their western greek names. Antiochus went out of his way to conflate Zeus with Ahura Mazda, Apollo with Mithras and Herakles with Artagnes. By excluding these details you are telling only half the story.

Seeing Milo on location in old ruins like this is a really great contrast from his videos in front of a chalkboard. Nice seeing him immersing in his passion.
He is become Indiana Jones
100% out in the universe to shine.
can we get some appreciation for the editing in this video? it feels like a legitimate documentary.
This is already better than most of the documents on streaming services
AND IT IS FOR FREE
bless you Milo never stop what you are doing
So refreshing to have a kind young man as host. Nimrud is so much more to me after watching this thank u 😊
Content is great Milo and good on you for doing what you can to preserve the human story for future generations. I can't exactly see myself being able to rough it out and climb 2 kilometers up a mountain like you have.
Milo's energy & enthusiasm are contagious!! Can't help but smile!!
Absolutely love that this series is going to be milo geeking out about things he loves and helping the people who live in the area
IKRRR it's genuinely the most endearing thing ever. i love seeing someone genuinely enjoy what they're doing it gives them so much more charm
Thanks!
Everyone's already commenting on the awesome quality of this video, your narration, the filmmaking, and the account of the site, so I'm going to comment on how flattering that scarf is lol
Have been waiting eagerly for the Turkey series and missed the earthquake video, so binging them back to back!
I think his hair is just magnificent, so I wish he didn't hide it! Each to their own preferences though. Cheers to you!
I didn’t think I would like this content as much as your reaction content but wow it’s so much better. Your passion and seeing the sight in person is so incredible to see.
I have been waiting for these to start! Your joy in what you are doing shows, Milo. Thank you for sharing and educating those of us who will probably never get there.
i love this video. i love how excited you sound talking about everything
Seeing someone so genuinely excited to talk about this stuff makes my heart so happy! Also thank you for those captions! I am growing hard of hearing and its super helpful
Passed over this video the first time I saw it thinking you were just talking about the tomb. Amazed to see you go from TT to Turkey!
I just want to appreciate the funny bits you kept in there, those are really important to me. You managed to combine a documentary-like style with your usual casual wittiness really well
Thank you I am fascinated with turkey and I just heard about this mountain I don't know how I missed it but I'm glad that it's you educating me I can't wait to see this in person
When I saw the detail on King Antioch's hat, I felt a shiver. To think of human hands carving it so incredibly long ago!
I can’t wait to see more content like this. The detail put into the writing and editing made this feel like an actual documentary, that coupled with Milo’s enthusiasm made this so fun
I've been so excited and like... giddy this entire video. I'm so happy and proud of Milo for being able to take this trip AND show it to all of us so beautifully. I am so excited to see what Milo makes next. This is absolutely my favorite channel. The enthusiasm, humor, and densely packed education makes me slightly addicted to this type of content LMAO. Thank you so much Milo and all of the people that help make these videos possible!!
I love everything about this series. From the heart-wrenching footage of the earthquake, to the relief efforts funded entirely by generous and kind people, to the diving into the history and archaeology of the area. Thank you so much for sharing this
Milo, you need a netflix series dude. these videos are so good and informative. wish they were a little bit longer tho.
I wish Milo all the success in the world but selfishly I like how raw this is. He gets to say what he wants with zero corporate filter.
Especially if it's him dragging Graham Hancock around different archeogical sites and explaining that they aren't Atlantis.
Your content always gets more gripping every video and your humor never fails to get a chuckle out of me
It always saddens me to see such amazing art like those massive sculptures be in such disrepair from the hundreds of years of wear, makes you wonder how amazing they looked before the damage and especially before the decapitations. They still look really neat though, even if time hasn't been very kind to them
I get what you mean but I also find a certain beauty in the decay itself
I could watch you tour and explain ancient sites all day long. Excellent work!
Dude, you are on fire right now, with all these sick videos!
Thanks so much dude! Couldn’t do it without such a great team.
I've been watching this channel since just a little before Milo "stepped up" his game and unleashed the chalkboard on us. I have to say it's been incredibly satisfying to observe his early trajectory towards what can only assume will be archaeology superstardom.
Nice work Milo :)
@@WSEightyFour I hope you're right. This channel has a lot of potential!
Hello!
I know RUclips shorts pay is kind of garbage, but if you're ever wondering if it actually brings in subscribers, it's how I discovered you and it was an instant sub. I'm binging your Ancient Apocalypse Series and I love it. Keep up the amazing work!
This channel is highly underrated still. Amazing that you managed to get to almost a million subscribers already, but you have so much more potential.
I'm betting you'll be steadily climbing to 5, maybe 7 million subscribers before it stabilizes.
I've seen channels take 5 years to get to this level. And while they may still be ahead a bit you will have no trouble catching up.
As someone who has always been fascinated by history, art, and archeology-thank you so much for making these videos on site! Its like being able to be there alongside you and actually experience the sites!
YASS Milo loving this content, great to see you out in the wild and being able to discuss this on site. Your black board videos are awesome too, this just has a bit of a different feel to those videos and I like it :) keep up the excellent work. I really enjoy learning from you. Thank you for your fun and informative videos.
I didnt think id enjoy these irl videos. But man this was pretty kewl.
I love the way you break down every single arqueological site. I went to Mount Nemrut back in 2020, and it was an outstanding experience. Watching this video made me feel as if I would've gone back in time. Thank you for such a nice video.
The region of Anatolia truly beautiful. I must go to Turkey one day this place was amazing
I think most audio editing software has some way of reducing wind noise - unless it was so windy that this is what it sounded like AFTER reducing wind noise
probably that was the case lol
an ancient wicked high place. it makes sense it remained so down through the civilizations that lived there for all those years. thank you for your time and showing your travels. This puts meat to bone.
Hey bud, im so happy that you are in Turkey, educating us as to the wonderful civilizations that inhabited it in the distant past. From the oldest (the Tepe's) to the later Mitanni and hopefuly you show some love to cappadocia and the anthill underground palaces. Turkey is a mysterious and wonderful place, rich in history. I hope you had a blast filming and seeing these awesome places!!!
Very cool! Thanks for doing subtitles on the video!
Hey man, just wanted to say that I'm loving all the videos you've been putting out. I originally found the channel when recommended one of your "ancient apocalypse" videos, and I've been a massive fan ever since. Keep up the great work, and can't wait to see what you make next
I just started watching your videos yesterday, and i appreciate the humor and diligence you put into this stuff. I I'm didn't know I'd be this interested in archeology.
Nice almost 20 minutes video. The wind definitely made me feel I was in Turkey
Your energy and enthusiasm is infectious :) thank you for sharing your exploits.
I'm really excited for the rest of this series. I very much enjoy the way you describe things and then go into the history of them. The Leo statue was my favorite part due to how beautiful its construction is. As the areas around the Mediterranean and Near East have my favorite history and culture, I'm thrilled to think that you'll have more content revolving around Turkey and the ancient history of humanity that comes with it. Keep up the wonderful work on educating the masses and demonstrating how fascinating our species's story is
i nearly scrolled past bc my thinking was "I'm too tired to learn about this stuff" then I remembered how Milo freaking nails every script. The presentation style is kicka5s. Thanks for making this stuff palatable - engaging, even - for non-dusty nerds.
Nice! I doubt you'll see this, but did you visit Hatussa while you were there? It's honestly one of the best preserved and most enlightening surviving sites of the middle bronze-age, but nobody on youtube seems to have made much of anything about it
I need to visit Turkey. The history there is amazing. Awesome video!!
So glad you talked about that corrugated metal building. Betty and I were standing in front of it trying to figure out what it was, it looks like it should be a disused chair lift or something. We were even looking out to see if we could see where it used to go.
Just wanna say ur passion for this and ur content is contagious man. Appreciate this video
13:04 "No shade and a lot of wind. Let's keep moving." Except that shade you just threw Graham Hancock's way about stars. :)
The energy that your videos have make it so much easier to learn from you than from more strictly educational stuff and I really appreciate that
So proud of you, bud! I can’t wait to see where your dedication and hard work takes you in coming years.
in location videos are so cool and i’m so happy you got do see this and shared it with us!

This place was built before the Abrahamic religions, polytheism was normal throughout the world.

New here. Great job young blood! Keep sharing your enthusiasm so more generations will love and protect, our ancient histories
Haven't heard about this site, it's absolutely amazing! 😮
The fact that it's located in such a close proximity to Tiger and Euphrates rivers, the statues and especially the mysterious and inaccessible burial chamber blow my mind
I love this, fantastic historical content. I have always wanted to travel and visit ancient sites and learn about their cultural significance, someday I'll get there but for now this will do!
Can't wait for the: Howdy friends, my name is Milo and welcome to Gobleki teppe.
Edit: I'm not sure how you spell that but you guys got it😅
Close enough! It's Göbekli tepe and ö is 'ea' sound you make when you say 'earn' 😊
I had to Google it, but you were way closer than me. You have all the letters and one extra in Tepe
Love this I have often wondered about this site very interesting and informative! Would love to see more videos like this.
Yep I’m another one who must say this is my favorite channel. Even though I’ve been following Milo for a while, he never disappoints me
Interesting, I live on an Island where the neighboring island's peak is 2351 Meters, or 7,713 feet.
This is why youtube is better than TV programs
The quality of the video is amazing! Keep up the great work
I'm loving the new intro to the series!! Super slick and also very useful for neurodivergent folks like me who have trouble thinking of periods of history in relation to one another
Congratulations on publishing your first book. Can't wait to check it out.
I am thoroughly impressed with this series so far! Amazing quality while retaining that characteristic Milo charm. I could imagine watching this in a world history class taught by a particularly cool teacher lol
Thank you sharing this wonderful site, I love learning about things like this, and have a hard time finding knowledgeable and genuine documentaries these days. Thank you so much for sharing!!
That feel when you bring your own tour guide. Love it.
This is very impressive! It's so wonderful you got to film there.
The I in Türkiye has to be capitalized as well such as TÜRKİYE.
2 min in, already better and more informative than a history channel. bulk info from someone that just loves it and no fluff
I hope at some point Milo gets to create his own docuseries! I would absolutely love to see that. An hour an episode series would be very appreciated!
Loving it Miles Rossi🎉super interesting, going to this mountain this weekend and you have told me everything I need to know about the site.
Pov if the History channel was actually about history
So close to a million subscribers, Your channel has absolutely exploded and you deserve every bit of it!
This is going to be so confusing. My brain won’t be able to handle it
Well goodness I hope it’s not confusing! I wouldn’t be doing my job that well if it was.
This is a delight and I really look forward to learning about these sites with you!
Can we please get this man a snowball microphone?
Hi Milo! I know it's common for burials to face east towards the rising sun. But I wondered if there are cultures where we can roughly see the time of year they were buried if they faced the rising sun exactly. Because this varies throughout the year. What are your (or anyone else's) thoughts on this?
I just simply love watching your channel grew. Your a good egg and I love watching your content and how informative it is.
GG mate.
Great video, but I'm going to have to give you a B- due to the fact that you only referred to the divinities by their western greek names. Antiochus went out of his way to conflate Zeus with Ahura Mazda, Apollo with Mithras and Herakles with Artagnes. By excluding these details you are telling only half the story.
considering the majority of his viewers are “western” it was the obvious way to refer to them.
