Yours is the EASIEST and CLEAREST tutorial video on long tail casting on RUclips. I've tried to follow several other tutorial videos and failed but I instantly succeeded when I tried out your instructions! I like it that you don't rush through the steps and explanations and make sure that every detail is explained clearly and slowly.
You are, far and away, (my opinion) the best and easiest teacher, I have had the pleasure to learn from! What I find, most endearing, is your A to B approach, always giving us the most important information and not muddying the waters, with extraneous things, that don't matter! Man! I could have used you in college!!!
omg, i've seen long-tail cast on written on patterns, and honestly just thought it just meant the simple cast on method, but leaving a long tail to help stitch up the project at the end 🤦♀😂
i started learning how to knit about a month ago just from watching your videos. thank you so much for these, they're so so helpful. hopefully you continue to create them. and I'm ordering your book now, I'm so excited.
Best long-tail cast on tutorial out. I watched four before finding yours and you explained it so easily. They other videos I watched overcomplicated the cast-on. I'm a newbie casting on for my first time and appreciate your simple video. Thank you. Can't wait to view more of your videos.
I like the easy cast on that you demonstrated. It's easier to learn for beginners. When my aunt taught me to knit at 11 years old, she did a cast on similar to what you did. It's good for beginners and stretches just as much as the long tail cast on.
Thank you so much. I also watched your two other videos, How to Knit and How to Knit, Part 2, Purl. They are sooo easy to follow. I've watch other videos before I found yours, I'm glad that I did. Your instructions are so clear. Thank you again.
I started watching you in 2019, and then I dropped knitting for the next few years. Here I am again relearning how to knit, and here you are with exactly what I need lol. Thank you, sir!
I just found your channel Friday and I wanted to thank you for your patient teaching! I am off to a great start thanks to you. I am also an avid reader and your book sounds fantastic! I will be adding it to my Amazon order Friday! Thank you again for sharing your knowledge so patiently!!
This was very helpful - newer to knitting and always wondered how to do this! I love all your videos - very easy to follow and your voice is amazing - thank you!!!😊
I am so glad you demonstrated the long tail cast on! I never really understood the written instructions for that, and didn’t like the simple cast on, so I always crochet a chain for however many stitches I need and then just put the back of the chain on the needle. I am in the process of finishing my cardigan, and need to make arms, so I’m going to try the long tail cast on method and see how that goes!
BTW-Neither here, nor there, but you are the reason I am knitting at all! I saw your video of how easy it was to cast on! (back loop method) You actually allowed me to see, knitting was possible for me! So thanks, for helping me believe in myself!!!
I learned to knit from you, am now in the process if knitting my first blanket, I am almost done knitting my own blanket using a weaving loom, but this blanket I just started is by hand using knitting needles, I wish I could find ones longer then 14 inches tho, the knitting needles that have the plastic string in the middle, I have 2 of those but can not use them as they are too small for my hands to use without dropping stitches, RJ can you give me some hints on what to do?
I just, after 40 years, learned the long-tail cast-on. I like it because, with the simpler cast on, you end up with a long yarn thread between the needles. Do you find this, or am I doing it wrong?😁
Ohhh. This is how I originally learned to cast on, just with a shorter slip knot tail. No wonder I’d get weird looks and asked “Why don’t you just cast on normally? That looks complicated.” Somehow pulling it and watching the yarn cast on is more satisfying this way.

This is the best tutorial I've ever seen for casting on!
You have THE BEST tutorials! You are such a great teacher, i am able to learn so easily from your videos as an absolute beginner.
You are the greatest teacher ever! Im so happy i found your channel!

Thank you so much for this! Makes my first row so much neater than when I use the simple cast on, when it looks like a bit of a shambles.
Thank you so much! You are the best instructor for knitting in you tube!
trying to create things after learning to knit years ago, thanks so much for your videos and detailed explanations !

Tysm - excellent tutorial, proper speed. The best ❤️
Just let me say, thank you! First try and I had it. Never made sense before. You are right, the edge is so much better..
I learnt simply cast on from you and I’m happily knitting away now. I’m in the process of knitting 2 baby blankets for my nephew.

They shouldn’t be too small for your hands!
Buy a set of interchangeable needles or buy a round with a longer cable.
Best video I’ve seen yet
I just, after 40 years, learned the long-tail cast-on.
I like it because, with the simpler cast on, you end up with a long yarn thread between the needles.
Do you find this, or am I doing it wrong?😁
I really am struggling to control just that, have you found a way?

Congratulations 🎉🎈🍾🎊 on your novel!
Does the slip knot count as a stitch? Ex: if the pattern calls for “cast on 60 st” is that 60+ the slip st? Or 59+ the slip st?
Thank you for the great explanation!
Can u tell me why on my first rib row after my cast on it has holes in it why and should they be there
What is the point having long tail?
That's what I'm trying to figure out!
Hi. Thanks for a great video.
thank you so much!!!!! ❤️💜
