    I had a great cruise on the Meraviglia in January 2020. Aside from some service issues it was a great experience. The ship is out of this world beautiful too!

    Hey, the MSC Seaside does have a comedy improv show called "Beer Prov" (at least before the cruising hiatus), which is geared more towards an American audience. AND it involves the audience members (encourages audience participation). A lot of fun! Thanks for the vlog series. Truly enjoyed it!

    • @parodeejay
      @parodeejay  4 года назад

      Ah, I've heard of Beer Prov. Nice! So the larger ships probably do have more concessions to appeal to the US audience, whereas the Armonia still had that old-school MSC feel. We're curious to check out more of their ships because I feel like the experience could be quite different!!

    I loved this series. I’m second generation American. My grandparents immigrated from Italy in the early 1900s. I’m 70 and when I was young they would speak Italian to me. They are long since passed and my parents spoke only English to us. It would be nice to hear and feel that culture again if only for a short period of time. I love that you pronounce the Armonia correctly as it should be in Italian.

    • @parodeejay
      @parodeejay  4 года назад +2

      Thankee! Yes, I went into the cruise pronouncing it more like "ammonia" but around day two I learned the correct way from the cruise director and tried to do it properly the rest of the time, ha ha...

    Great vlog series and good to hear from American cruisers who finally understand that MSC does things the Italian way and is not another USA cruise line. Have sailed on every class of MSC ship including Armonia's sister ship Sinfonia (there are 4 ships in each MSC class of ship) and although the oldest and smallest class of MSC ship, i 100% agree it was the best crew interaction i've had on a cruise. From our cabin stewardess to the senior officers they were all great - was even made Maitre D' of the restaurant on elegant night! Have sailed on MSC Divina and that class of ship is probably my favourite of all MSC classes of ship. It's a slightly different experience to Armonia (Divina is about twice the size) but the food, entertainment and activity experiences are fairly similar with the decor of the ship being a notch above what you've experienced. Ice cream (in Europe certainly) used to be included in the drinks package but hasn't been recently - only within the non-alcohol drinks package i think? If you plan to sail a few times with MSC then Fantastica experience is usually worth a slight uplift in cost as you earn more Voyager loyalty points! Wish more cruise lines did status match. Love your series of port guides, a great range of information for those of us who are yet to visit them, or even re-visit them.

      Thankee! We loved our first foray into MSC and are so glad we chose the Armonia. We've been eyeballing the Divina when she comes to Port Canaveral, as that's an easy port for us to get to via Southwest. We're excited to continue exploring MSC!! :D

    You're both very cool! I've been on MSC Armonia two months ago, in Europe, 8 days and 7 nights from Venice, Italy to Greece. I agree with most of your presentation, but Gelato wasn't free which surprised me because last year on MSC Meraviglia I got it for free (actually I'm not totally sure). But yes, thank you for your presentation. I realized I missed certain important things like the shows for example although it was in my mind from the very beginning but the schedule somehow occupied my time. I also thought the ship was not that small, and overall, we had a pleasant experience! So thank you!😊

    Not just language being a problem with comedy, but also nationalities. Years ago I saw the movie AIRPLANE in England. While I was laughing my head off, the others in the theater were giving me looks, wondering what was funny.

    You have convinced me to look at MSC next time I go on a cruise. I love that size of ship as well. BIggest ship I've been on is Norwegian Escape and I didn't like it. It seemed noisier and more crowded than the smaller ships I've been on with Holland America and Celebrity, both of which have been fantastic. One note: the showers on Holland America (have been on Konigsdam, Nieuw Statendam and Nieuw Amersterdam) have been enormous in comparison to Armonia's.

    • @parodeejay

    Loved your videos this trip, probably the most because it reminded me of the Celebrity Summit. Also loved that island. Just a cool place to hang out and they even had "sofas on the sea." Now that is cool. 😊 I travel alone and really find that the smaller ships are much friendlier than the massive ones. The Summit is one of my favorites as well as a couple of the Royal Caribbean ships. You guys just missed all the start of the Corona thing happening, so your next cruise may be a bit delayed. Glad you had such a good time on this one, since it might be a while till the next one. Good thoughts to hang on to, which is what we all need. I was headed to Disney World for my last time and that did not happen. BOO HOO

      We got a whole lot of cruising done at just the right time, for sure! We weren't slated to cruise again until mid-September, so we haven't technically missed any cruises yet, but we've had a few futures canceled. Of course, we keep trying to replace them, ha ha... :P

    Thank you for the information on the ship- I watched the videos before my family went on the Armonia on July 17 to 24, 2022 Eastern Med. cruise. I did a review on Cruise critic fro anyone who wants to read it, but basically, the bar and cabin crew were great, the entertainment poor, and the food was too European for my family (no chicken, almost no beef, almost no shrimp- heavy on lamb and veal dishes, etc.) Perhaps your cruise with them was better because they used foods North Americans are used to. Anyway, no more MSC for my family- we have Alaska on NCL scheduled for 2023.

    It seems they've come a long way since my cruise on the Armonia in 2019. For the price, it was a good deal, but the crew, food, and the condition of the ship was just disappointing. Example: They only had 2-3 flavors of gelato back then and a lot more renovation work going on. They did have an actual opera show during one of the sea days in the afternoon, which I found unique to the cruise line.

    • @parodeejay
      @parodeejay  4 года назад

      Oh wow... yes, it seems like they've taken good care of the ship, but maybe they did a good bit of renovation while cruising to make that happen.

      For the Armonia, just the Surf & Turf steakhouse for food. There was a "juice bar" type place you could pay for as well, and a coffee shop. I believe everything else was included.

      Hah, we touched on this briefly in the livestream yesterday because I hadn't gotten a chance to reply on here yet, but we didn't really notice too much in the way of smoke, outside of the cigar room. We've had smokier experiences on Carnival Fantasy-class ships, hah.
