Thanks Home Drone FPV🙏I had to wait for some sunshine around here in order to be able to use it for the video!😂Finally, got about 1 1/2 hours of sunlight yesterday
I like the Foxeer, it seems sharper out of the box. Well based on the videos I have seen, I dont have either. If I had one or the other I would try the steps you suggested
I received my sharkbyte receiver, tired of waiting for the MicroHD zero cameras to become available….I may just go this route.. thank you for all your content. Doesn’t surprise me (lens), I LOVE my Ratels and baby Ratels.. Like night and day compared to some analog cameras
wow amazing footege im impressed it looks very clear so the filters made a difference too thank u for this info im working on my fatshark byte as im watching the video thank u Tmac.
Hi TMac - thank you for this very informative guide. I heard a lot of the possible camera upgrades on RCGroups, but your direct comparison convinced me to do this step. Fortunately I have already some Tarsier lenses in my spare bin... :-) I have one question: I am using the Skyzone Sky03o, too. I printed a TPU adapter to attach the Shark Byte module to the goggles. This works fine, but I was wondering how you managed it to use the original mount coming with the modul on your Skyzone. To be honest - your solution looks way better than mine... Hope you can help me. Thank you very much!
@@BountyFPV its worked fine for me with my tarsier Christophe. I'm sure its just a matter of getting the right settings with Gyroflow. Many people have it working with the Tarsier. There are 5 tarsier Lens presets available for your use on this site github.com/ElvinC/gyroflow/tree/master/camera_presets/Caddx . You need to use the lens preset for the camera settings you're using. Either adjust your camera settings to one of these presets or make a preset yourself with whatever settings you want to use
There is visible jello in the video feed. I had the same issue and resolved it by making sure that the lens was seated firmly ... even with the lens ring tight, I could still turn the lens 1 or 2 millimeters to make it tighter.
This is really good info, still like the look of the Foxeer better. Also wondering how SharkByte would work with some older V3 goggles??? Any info on that is appreciated.
Hey Mark! Thanks. I like the Digisight also. Only info I have for you on V3 use with Shark Byte is "Sensei_D" asked the same question on RCGroups and "imgumby" answered with: "I run old HD3's and they work fine....."
I heard the cable on the Caddx Turtle v2 is compatible with the Shark Byte camera and vtx. If that's the case, wouldn't the Caddx camera also be compatible with the Shark Byte vtx?
This Fatshark system is looking better every day. It sure is a compelling proposition to anyone with a nice analogue goggles. I, like many other, Am a DJI FPV orphan. Anyone with a good second hand HDO?
I agree Adriano, thanks for getting me started with it!😁I've not owned any HDOs myself. Your DJI stuff will be good for quite sometime, right? Isn't Caddx going to be making air unit & still Vista?
@@TMacFPV Yes, as long as Caddx has access to DJI chips that is. Everything in our hobby works on open sourced technology. The first time we allow a proprietary tech in our models, this EOL threat comes to haunt us. Fatshark must be thrilled!
hi t mac thx for your content as always... ive setup my sharkbyte all updated etc. now on the osd display i get all of the elements showing except vtx channel/power level it just shows ????: ??. Any ideas? i have a whoop board using 2 uarts only. 1 for crossfire 1 for the sharkbyte rx/tx ??? help!!
I dont like the method of getting focus and then tightening the ring everytime i have done that the ring pulls the lens further out and changes the focus. IMO the only reliable way is to adjust the ring and then screw them both into the casing tight check focus if off back off and then rotate the ring again slightly and screw the lens back in again. Its a bit of a faff but you can eventually get them both lined up so that when screwed in tight the focus is perfect. Also I recommend keeping the focus chart 3 meters away to get the hyperfocal distance set for the lens.
Thank you TMac, can you show how to remove the PCB printed circuit board from the cam? I hope there will be Better cam's in the future, the cam's algorithm in not optimal ether, Thanks again, love your vid's
To replace the Runcam original lens with the 12mm threaded (not the 8mm) Ratel 1.66 mm lens (not Baby Ratel/Tarsier) remove the piece of black tape on the back of the Runcam camera and remove the 2 screws. Pull PCB out of housing. Print 3D adaptor for the Ratel lens. Screw new Ratel lens into adaptor. Mount PCB on adaptor with 2 screws (holes are in 3D print). 3D print is "sensitive to type of material used (i.e.dont use SainSmart filament for some reason). That's the basics of it. For further info, please refer to Alf's many posts on this method in RCGroups (link provided above)
So if I want to convert my quad to digital using the sharkbyte on my hdo2s I will need to get the Shark byte system, a digital camera, and a sharkbyte vtx? Or do I not need to mess with the vtx? I'm as newb as newb can be and just want to be sure I'm starting off with really good equipment.
Hey Marid! You'll need the Shark Byte video receiver (VRX) module for your goggles, one of the two digital cameras mentioned in this video, and a Shark Byte digital video transmitter (VTX). For the VTX, I'm using the single-board TX5S.1 VTX. Links to all of these components are in this video's description. The camera and VTX are comparable in price to analog cameras and VTXs. The Shark Byte receiver module is a little bit more than a good analog receiver module, but you only need to purchase one of these and for me, its very much worth it
Yes, you are correct 👍 Difference between V1 & V2 to my knowledge is the cable is longer on the V2 and it has a "back plate" (no other changes to sensor, lens, or image I'm aware of)
@nistax You may be right in that regard, however, I've specifically asked the question of Foxeer as to what's changed besides the cable length and backplate and have received zero response. On the Foxeer FB Page, the only changes mentioned are the cable length and back plate. The lens as shown in the image of the V2 is appears to be the exact same 1.7mm 8MP lens I have on my V1. Having said all that, I agree with you and even made a comment on Foxeer's post of the new V2 that the image looked great. As I mention early on in this video, I believe the stock Digisight image is better than the stock Runcam image. In fact, I will not fly the stock Runcam (that's why I was looking at how to improve upon it). I will fly the stock Digisight. The Digisight has an IR filter over the sensor whereas the Runcam doesn't have IR lens (to my knowledge) over the sensor nor the lens. I think this is one of the drawbacks of the Runcam (besides no glass lens)
TPU. I sent RacedayQuads (RDQ) my STL file and they printed it for me. Told RDQ I needed it to be somewhat flexible so it could stretch over camera lens if need be so probably print somewhere 5-15% infill. I have no idea what infill RDQ settled on
@@snakefich that was for the "ring" or washer adapter by the way. If you're speaking of the full case 3D adaptor for the regular size (not Baby) Ratel lens, you'll need to refer to Alf's posts in RCGroups as his case design is constantly evolving to eliminate light leakage. The case design is sensitive to material type, % infill, color, etc. I haven't kept up with the case design parameters
