    Matt -> I'm also a TBM Pilot.
    A quick suggestion is that to leave the inertial seperator on all the way through landing. This could save you in case of a bird strike or FOD that kicks up on the runway. Generally because of the 30 second delay, you'll want to put it in when you get your second decent and then leave it on all the way through landing. Just make sure you're under 200KIAS when you turn it on, but then you can descend all the way up to Vne.

    Awesome addition. My friend the your channel is proof the YT algorithm is pure folly - you should be at 1,000,000 subs with all of this content.

    • @EfficientRVer
      @EfficientRVer 10 месяцев назад +14

      It has more to do with his content than the algorithm. I'm a fellow alum of his alma mater, and a former pilot. I've been watching him for a long, long time, but there are times when he makes decisions which lop off large parts of his existing and potential audiences. I could explain what I feel the reasons are, but he's a super smart guy who ought to be able to figure it out himself. But suffice it to say, they fall into many categories from elitism to clickbait to not explaining what the real story is. Even in this video, he doesn't say whether he has bought the plane, is leasing it, sharing it, borrowing it, just renting it by the flight hour, or what. "New plane and pilot" can be taken to mean 1000 things, and I'm not sure i'd appreciate being used as clickbait if I were the "new pilot".
      His friends seem to all be nice, from his HS sweetheart to his flying buddy who's move on from bumming Bonanza time to flying Gulfstreams, to this apparently new "pilot". I've not been watching him for a good year or more, so I'm not sure whether she has been introduced previously, but the title implies otherwise. Someone with 1M subscribers would have done the courtesy of giving an introduction. That's just one example, I'm not here to criticize Matt or this one video. But if you think there's a reason his channel is doing well only in its niche, it is for reasons like that.
      Maybe you need to be on Patreon to understand what the deal is. But if so, that's another explanation of why not to expect 1M subscribers here.
      His 223K subscribers are well deserved, both in the positive and negative senses of the phrase. If I'd had to make an over/under bet 1, 2, 3, or 4 years ago on his 223K subscribers today, I would have taken the under. 5 or more years ago, I would have taken the over.

    Huge congrats on the new plane Matt!! She's a beauty!! I don't recall the 850 having all that glass, someone nice enough to do all that for you?!? They take a little getting used to, they have their little quirks. LOL All in all, a very fine airplane! I assume you know the story about them? Started life as a Mooney 301, got sold 2 times and ended up with Socata, got the turbine conversion and all that, ended up in Tarbes France where it gets made, and got its name. TarBes Mooney, or TBM. It's one of my very favorite airplanes!! I'll be 72 on the 28th of March, when I grow up I want to be just like Matt!! LOL Congrats again buddy!! 8) --gary .

    • @gtr1952
      @gtr1952 9 месяцев назад

      I had to stop back and watch this again. You didn't mention anything about your buying experience? You should get pretty good performance with it. From watching your videos for years, you usually don't load them very heavy. That has a lot of capacity so you'll be running at the higher side of published performance numbers. I really like them! They are a little heavy, but they give you a good ride and don't beat you up on all-dayer's. LOL They did a nice job on the glass upgrade. I don't remember any 850's with full glass, so I assume a previous owner did that. I always liked the 850 mode thing, raising the gate to 850 "mode". LOL I hear the new 5 blade prop is $$$$! That would look great on there and give you a little more performance? Next overhaul? They go 3600 hrs, that's cool! Hope you enjoy it!! --gary

    If parts are readily available around the world (I have no idea), than that would be a reason to get the TBM. Otherwise you would be better off with an Eclipse 500 - Cheaper to operate and maintain, easier to fly, quieter and smoother, FL410, 340-350 TAS at 55 gallons/hr total, and safety of two engines and better weather avoidance (by going over it). Eclipse parts are not an issue now in the USA with no planes AOG (unlike Cirrus).

      He didn't even say he bought it. Could just be some promo deal. Could be that some info is saved for Patreon. And yes, his "hiding the wienie" on all sorts of info, has been a reason I've watched less and less and less of his channel over the many years since I started watching. I started out as a huge fan of both Matt and the channel. Now I'm indifferent about Matt, and disappointed about what he's done with the channel.
      The title was intriguing enough to get me to watch this one for the first time in a long time. Very disappointed at how little of it was interesting. "New plane and pilot" yet no scoop about the plane, no info at all about the right seat occupant, no info about the purpose of the flight, except that at the end it was implied to be maybe going to the Super Bowl. Or maybe just being in Vegas during it.
      Anyone's guess. I don't watch RUclips to play guessing games about what I just watched.
      And if he is doing to put out a video about attending the Super Bowl, that's just what the channel needs, more elitism and extravagance, and more lack of explaining what the heck he's doing.
      He can do what he wants, and put none or all of it into videos. Either way, I won't hate him. But the choice will determine whether this channel which started out great many years ago, keeps getting worse and worse, because I really think it has lately.

      @htschmerdtz4465 10 месяцев назад

      Not sure about that: An A 36 operating out of Denver on an 70 degree day will require up to 5,000' of runway a distance that would far exceed virtually all Idaho back country airstrips. A TBM 850 will require roughly 3,750' of runway under similar conditions, making many such strips usable, giving a TBM the edge.

    Hey mate, love your channel. One question. How do you eat all that food and are not fearful of a sudden and urgent bowel movement while at 25K altitude without a bathroom on board.?

      A friend of mine had a PC12 for about 15 years. What an awesome and rugged plane. Always had a professional pilot fly it. It can land and take off from almost anywhere. It's the $140k overhauls that suck. LOL

      @@bradsteelguy9140 yes, great airplane. I have time in over 65 types and just over 12,000 hrs. My 3,700 hrs in the PC12 are by far my favorite. Best Airplane ever built my opinion.
