BLOOD DEVOTION: This is something I completely overlooked due to the incorrect/ambiguous translation on the tooltip. Use it instead of Witty Strike with the damage, area sanctuary and duration specialisations to make all linked party members deal +50 damage for 9 seconds (very very strong).
Damage dealt increase for connected allies - the tooltip reads as if it makes connected targets take more damage. What on earth would be the point of that?!? It's poorly translated hence why I initially did not include it in the build. I've since been informed this is wrong and it actually increases connected targets damage, so when you take it with the expanded targets and duration increase its a very powerful party buff
@pizzasaurolophus Damage increased. Ignore the tooltip it makes it sound as though your ally will take more damage, but in fact they deal more damage. Make sure to take expanded targets and duration increase too Damage transfer increased makes you take more of the targets damage for them, can't remember the amounts not at my PC right now. Not really that helpful except maybe niche PvP situation

Thank you for the comment and feedback, I really appreciate it, I work hard to make them as clear and concise yet thorough as I can so I'm glad to hear your feedback. Unfortunately I'm only a small, casual content creator so I don't make videos as quickly as others - I wish I had more time to game haha. I planned on doing SnS/Wand/Bow next but what class in particular do you play?
@@WilstormGaming You don't really get a lot of quality reasearched content now a days so thank you! SNS/WAND is perfect! looking to start a new char and torn between sns/gs or sns/wand combo. Not even sure about bow combo but I can see that it has some potential as well. this be the ultimate tank comparison guide. More power and keep it up!
I usually do Strategic Rush > Provoke for the passive (agony) > willbreaker/shieldstrike for weaken > shieldthrow for a guaranteed heavy attack chance > stunningblow > full chage guillotine blade. then bam Big PP damage all the way
I don't provide these on Questlog.gg because PvE builds really don't need to be optimised in terms of stats and you should be building your PvP gear, which you will be able to easily do PvE in.
Following along with both your TANK builds. Q tho, I've got a load of skill growth books. Should I be maxing my skills for the sake of it or just leave them at the levels you have?
Oh no no don't leave them at my levels. Keep upgrading them! I've just been swapping around builds for the sake of testing and trying different builds so I'm going a little slowly - Definitely keep upgrading them if you plan on continuing to use the build
For boss damage this is exactly the same. For AoE/generic tanking you could swap annihilating or witty strike out for guillotine blade with the AOE spec once you actually have a decent amount of crit/heavy attack. Otherwise it's still the same. Just preference if you want a little more boss damage vs a little more reliable aoe burst
As in pure healer? Or hybrid tank/healer? I'm experimenting at the moment with SnS/Wand and SnS/Bow for a hybrid/unkillable tank/healer build next probably.
Very nice build vise, for almost same setup, but in copying yours after hearing ur points 👌 do u have an Aoe pve tank build, when doing open world Dungeons , contracts and stuff as a party
No I believe it's only when SnS is out applying to the DR if blocking. But I have explicitly tested that one. You might be thinking it's not that useful in boss damage build then when mainly using greatsword as the primary auto attack weapon - you are correct there just isn't many other contending options for this slot whereas aegis shield will still help when you need to swap to SnS for more defensive fights. Moral boost and gerads patience are ehhh. Maaaaybe Victor morale just for the mana and raging frenzy is useless against 1 target.
@@WilstormGaming Yeah makes sense. I was looking at the passives for a good while and also concluded they're all pretty much useless for a boss. I've been trying this build for the past few hours and it's been a blast. Thanks for sharing :)
Hi! I'm exhausted from searching for the right build and most explanations are not clear. I hope you're the best option for us. Could you please upload your End Game gear and skills for: PVP PVE Dungeon PVE AOE Open World Events on questlog so everyone can benefit? I would really appreciate it if you don't ignore my request.
While leveling this will work but you probably want more AOE while leveling - my AOE Tank Build is perfect for open world farming and leveling check that one out on my channel
Yes, you can use ascending slash for that but you can't knock any Bosses prone they are immune so being a boss build I don't recommend doing that for this. In PVP / Open world you can certainly do this
Hmmm really hard to tell without knowing what you're doing and what our gear is. Some very basic stuff off the top of my head. 1. Always have your sword as your active weapon - without it you don't passively block and lose a huge amount of passive damage reduction - apparently not everyone knows this. 2. Don't let ranged mobs free cast on you they will eat you up quickly. Use strategic rush and chain hook/controlling rake to gather them up so that aoe attacks, stuns, debuffs etc all get applied in them. 3. Use the SnS defend ability and use it often - while this is active it will fully 'defend' all attacks against you. Very OP. Obviously heals you against fury attacks too. Use witty strike with consecutive and stamina recovery when farming to sustain your defend stamina, very valuable survival resource. 4. Honestly though you will be somewhat limited just purely due to stats check until you have better gear with more evasion/endurance on your gear and if you don't have a healer you will seriously struggle.
Not worth on bosses. Counter barrier is amazing on aoe and large packs with multiple enemies. It provides a lot of damage reduction through increased block rate and good damage from all the counters. BUT on single target boss enemies it is not very good. Bosses attack very slowly and have lots of slow fury attacks and mechanics that interrupt it's auto attacks. In any given 6 second window you might get 2 maybe 3 at most auto attacks from the boss. Not worth it.
You mentioned use shield as defense but greatsword as auto attack. How does that work ? I thought that you will use whatever weapon you swap to as your auto attack weapon AND defense passives.
Nah so your auto attack and defensive ability are independent of each other - swap your auto attack weapon a few times and you'll notice the defensive ability doesn't change. So you can swap to auto attack on the greatsword but still use the shield and sword defensive ability, that doesn't change
The 260s are from the Amitoi healing - they consume world tree leaves every 6 seconds to give you a small heal. 660 is the initial healing from davincis courage when you have the healing specialisation (5:45). 420 is the healing from the SnS defensive skill when you block a bosses purple Fury attack (8:23).
I brought the battle pass and levelling premium thing and started with bow GS then switched to GS, Daggers but now I really want to pick up my tank role again (used to being a tank) is it worth me starting again?
Nah not at all, just grab a blue sword and shield box from your guild merchant and start leveling the sword and shield skills etc. Fun to have multiple specs
Yes I will, I'm starting with PvE because that's what most people are engaging with right now to level and farm and gear up. I'll progress to PvP guides at some stage
What is your opinion about the Crusader build on the metabattle site? I've seen multiple videos of people claiming that build to be the best so i want you think about it
I hope this stays (this is actually my 4th try commenting cuz the others wouldn't stay for some reason) I just want to hear what you think about the supposed "best" build for tanking
Hmm it's certainly a good generic tank build - it's not aiming to focus on singlet target boss damage like this video of mine is. It's more similar to the other build on my channel aimed more at general tanking with more focus on aoe/trash packs. I think it probably needs death blow instead of blood devotion or stalwart bastion for more damage. Unless the player is using stalwart basion very proactively it's probably not going to have a huge amount of value. This metabattle build invests 18 spec points into blood devotion which I think is a bit too much. It's a very niche ability with a long cooldown requiring proactive use which I don't think most players would do, nor does the content difficulty/damage profile really need it. You could use it purely for the damage spec for party damage in which case you only need to invest spec points for that one part not all of it. I also think for general content taking stunning blow (as well as death blow as mentioned) should be higher priority than willbreaker and stalwart or blood devotion. Having targeted hard CC is very valuable - also buffs death blow and guillotine blade. So not exactly what I would use but it's perfectly useable. Thats the fun of buildcrafting lots of viable options
I'm lvl 35 so i think i'm going to use your aoe build until lvl 50 but at some point i want to do bosses too so i'm worrief if i can do both builds and when
Yep definitely the aoe build in my channel for leveling/open world. Then you can set this up for dungeons and Taedals tower once you start running them
I won't bullshit you I haven't deliberately tested much in PvP yet so I really can't say, I've mostly engaged with PVE this far. My inclination/guess would be you're probably going to be more useful as control/CC/peeling compared to dagger/GS or bow/xbow etc. which are probably much burstier
Well I did say it was the flex pick - but also I don't think it's competing with too much else, the main thing would be stalwart bastion or blood devotion with the damage increase specs but both are high cd and require proactive/niche use by the player. Maybe chain hook for niche utility but not often required on boss fights. Witty strike is just a good filler that returns resources if you don't want to use party CDs
For PVE traits aren't too complicated. On your weapon get some crit chance / heavy attack chance. On your armour melee/ranged evasion is king for most PVE content. Max HP and regen are good but generally more value in just evading. Not sure if PVE bosses even crit so I'd avoid endurance for now
Yes this is global release. I live in Australia so my server is a mix of Japanese, Australian and New Zealanders. You are seeing Japanese writing Kanji I think or something like that, similar to chinese
Yea but only with the passives from gear. you don't want to invest more than 30 base points because they start costing 2 points per stat. But absolutely getting to 60/70 strength with end game gear is very valuable. Even 50 strength and 50 dex just depends what you can reach with gear but the tier bonuses are very worth it
as far as anything solo this is great, but ur on some crazy drugs if you dont take blood devotion in a group, the skill dmg boost to multiple people is way too strong, after all ur just a dps with long cd all you have is burst might as well use whatever can buff the real dmg dealer, otherwise u could just go dagger/sns
