i thought i saw this one. what did that beast weight when you were done? I thought you were going to put lead shot into the hollow handle...so when you swing it, they fly to the head and make it heavier...
@@DiesInEveryFilm interesting, cause I've read in reviews people who bought hollow shafted medieval maces from online (like cult of Athena) said they experienced bent shafts after use.. I'm guessing the material they use isn't properly hardened considering its mostly likely coming from China. LOVE your videos and beautiful work BTW.

Yeh a purely accidental idea I noticed as i was filming hahahahaha. I was considering chamfering them and wish i had but its only mild steel so couldn’t have them too sharp
If you're trying to heat the metal up with a torch to increase its hardness it wasn't nearly hot enough for that oil bath. Get that thing to a cherry red.

Fill the inside of the handle with some sort of Flex-Seal type liquid rubber for vibration dampening?
Nice idea mate, i put a solid rod inside this loose to try give it some dampening and it seemed to work ok
I was hoping he was going to pour lead into the head of it. Might dampen it a little.

Honestly can’t remember what it weighed, nah the lead shots not much use in this cause the head is heavy enough alone

Do you think hollow shafts are better & stronger than solid ones?
It was more about weight but i do find solid shafts bend easier, that’s why i had hollow but placed a section of solid in there to give more stability
