This is one of the best adult performances if not the best of BWV 54, yet Bach is never adequately performed by adult trebles of either sex, only boys providentially having the purity of the vocal harmonic giving a true tone adults cannot as the richer adult harmonic development interferes.
@@ozielich I'm not talking about the beauty of Höffgen's voice but the physical harmonics of adult voices of either sex and young girls interfering musically compared to the purer harmonics of boys' voices.
Sorry, but that's complete bullsh.. Listen to well-sung arias, e.g. by sopranos (Barbara Schlick, Herreweghe, BWV 105, 127): No boy's voice can achieve this beauty, tenderness and sophistication (which is often a valuable part of the interpretation!). And boys of 10 or 12 years do not have the human maturity of an adult woman and therefore cannot portray the depth, emotional fullness, etc. of a passage nearly as well as an adult woman. Therefore, their interpretation cannot usually be as high quality, even if their tones may be physically purer. Singing is something different than producing physically "clean" tones!
one of the most beautiful alto voices ever heard
Tiefe und Voluminöse Stimme. Johann hätte seine Freude gehabt
Voce di Contralto meravigliosa! Sublime grandissimo Contralto.
Diese Stimme ist einfach umwerfend schön. So etwas gibt es heute leider nicht mehr. Danke lieber Uli.
This was my introduction to the work 55 years ago, and still a miracle. And such clean sonics. Heartfelt thanks!
Ein Geschenk. Großartige Marga Höffgen.

in this case it doesn't interfere at all.
