Beautiful. I grew up as a teenager with Richter's recordings. For me they still speak with authority and evoke reverence. We are most fortunate that this great Bach interpreter's work is preserved for our education, and for posterity.
Thumbs down for the first movement. Why are they playing so soft? If it was a baroque orchestra maybe but since he used modern instruments there's no excuse to play it like this.
I bow to one who has a universe more experience in the art of interpretation of all things Bachian. And to whom do I refer? The Sachen organist and conductor, Karl Richter. He plays from the deep heart's core in the spirit of Bach and with Richter's wealth of knowledge and practical experience, I can find very little fault. And what if I may be so bold can you boast since you have placed yourself above him by your comments. I do recall reading something which George Bernard Shaw wrote. He advised that those who cannot perform better than the one to whom they wish to criticize should not be critics. I defer to George. I hope you will take this in the spirit it is meant.
