Richter plays this fuge the best way He can do with such a speed and without any interpunction. In general , Pianists should be forbidden to play Bach , as they completely ignore its lyrism and poetry. WTCs are NOT organ fuges, they are intended NOT to be of mathematical rythm and structure but 'full of poetry'. This one is excelent example. But...can You hear that??? It's not about Richter himself but of 99% pianists.

What a wonderful performance of this technically demanding pieces

I love this Bach cantata and Karl Richter is definitely a great Bach interpreter and conducting the Munich Bach Orchestra and Choir [also an harpsichordist and organist] and I do like the vocalists and my favourite vocalists in this 1970-1 recording are Peter Schreier and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau [who are my favourites in Bach`s vocal works] and of course, Edith Mathis does a great performance on the 5th movement in this recording. The organist in this recording is Hedwig Bilgram and originally released on vinyl in 1972 for Archiv Produktion. A fantastic recording.😊😇💯❤♋

You must here the interpretation of Sara Daneshpour. The same choice for tempo, but if this is the masculine version with all of its characteristics, than the Daneshpour version is silk for the soul but with nonetheless an enorm range of fine emotions. Both iterpretations are a bow for Bachs composition!💞

Philippe Herreweghe is absolutely extraordinary, and Johann Sebastian Bach-peerless, magnificent and eternal.

Koroliov one of the very few very important interpreter of Bach I have all his recordings and often go back to them again and again. His Art of the fugue is my favourite among clavier interpretations
