When you spread the curse to other people, it skips you. Because Rachel made a copy of the tape and gave it to Aidan, the curse skipped her. So, she made Aidan make a copy to give to someone so that it would skip him, too.
@@AstralAustin Noah watched the one she had. After he watched it, she made a copy for him, but Aidan ended up watching the copy, so it skipped her but not Noah.
I dated a guy years ago who lived a floor below where the apartment was filmed. The building didn’t notify the residents that they were filming because they didn’t want them getting in the way. He was at home and heard noise, then screaming and then more screaming. Concerned, he went upstairs to see what was happening and the crew was confused why he was there. After a brief conversation it was explained to him and even Naomi apologized to him. They laughed. He stayed with me for a week.
i’m sure your patreon members might’ve explained this, but the movie does explain everything. you just might not get it or catch it at first so i feel like it’s safe to say this. samara has the ability to physically etch images into people’s minds. she was torturing her parents (and the horses) by putting images in their minds, driving them crazy. the parents also wanted to stop her from torturing anyone else so they put her in the shed with the horses and made her sleep there with them. if memory serves, the horses would keep her up at night which is why she mentally tortured them enough to make them drown themselves. the mom finally had enough of the mental torture samara put upon her and ended her life. the guilt + possible hallucinations still occurring was too much for her and she killed herself too, leaving Richard by himself. at the end, rachel finally realizes who’s the true evil. it’s samara. the reason why Rachel was spared is because she made a copy. why would making a copy of a tape that kills you spare you? it’s because Samara’s plan is she wants to spread the curse as far as possible. she wants people to make copies (which they have to give to someone else to watch) which will pass the curse to them and the process has to repeat or they die.
Samara didn't mean to put those images in their parents' minds.... She wasn't aware of that (the images), Samara genuinely loved her adoptive mother, Anna.

This is still one of my tops favorite horror movies because how scary it was back then and the controversy around this music was legendary! Thanks for your reaction :)
I definitely thought it was real lol, I thought the movie itself was "the tape" so I was CONVINCED I was going to die 7 days after watching it.... to be fair, I was like 5 y/old, so its justifiable 😅
For real tho! I was a kid/pre-teen, but I remember how everyone was obsessed with finding out whether the real tape was out there or not. People of all ages would pull all kinds of pranks during Halloween with the Samara/Sadako costume amd numerous people would upload the "real" video of the tape on RUclips in order to scare viewers, lol.
I liked how this wasn't a full blown horror movie but a ghost mystery story that we are solving with the main character =) But the beginning and end...GEEZ they're frightening! AND the girl who plays Samara is the voice of Lilo in "Lilo and Stitch"!!!
I love that you tried to work out the cabin being on the same island as the Morgan’s farm, because that’s something I never understood.. how Samara was thrown down a well by her mother at Shelter Mountain Inn when it doesn’t seem like an area near the Morgan’s farm? The movie makes out that the farm is a ferry ride away, and Shelter Mountain Inn is a long drive away as Rachel “needed to take a nap before driving back”?? Can someone clarify?
This movie really isn't confusing, you just really have to pay attention. Firstly, Samara was born with the abilities that she has to burn those images into people's heads and onto objects (like the wall in her little barn room), she's not aware of this, so it isn't intentional. She was adopted by her adoptive parents after her mother went crazy and Samara was blamed for it (this is explained more in the later films). This is also the reason why her adoptive mother killed her by throwing her down the well and she drowned after seven days, that's why she only gives you seven days before killing you. The idea of the tape is that it's a curse that Samara wants to spread as far as possible. So, everyone who watches it has to make a copy, show it to someone and get that person to show it to someone else before the seven days are up or else they die. That's why Rachel survived. She made a copy and showed it to her son and then had him make a copy with her to show to someone else at the end of the movie, that's why Aiden asked what happens to the next person who watches the copy that they made. This is also more detailed in the later films as well. Your questions will be answered by the end of the trilogy, trust me.
She didn't show her son the tape. Aiden watched the tape in his own freewill hence creating his own death sentence Rachel showed it to Noah. That's why she got spared.
No she wasn't killed because she made another tape to spread the infection. That's why she had the boy make one. If you sacrifice someone else you live.
the twist is that essentially samara was always evil and her adoptive parents never abused her. they were just trying to protect themselves. the third film isn’t a prequel but it essentially rewrites samara’s origins which is established in the sequel so i wouldn’t even bother watching it. major disappointment.
She wasn't killed because she made a copy, that's pretty much it, that's why she had the boy make a copy. I don't remember much about the details of this movie, but I definitely know that!
The actor that plays Noah is Martin Henderson. He played Wayne in ‘X’. He’s also been in a ton of other stuff.
