I watched this in the theater when it came out and when she busted throught the TV at the end it was like a bomb went off in the theater. People freaked out! Screaming, yelling, laughing, jumping out of their seats, it was awesome!
when i watched this in theaters, as soon as the movie was over , this girl's phone went off. she screamed so loud and the crowd just yelled "SEVEN DAYS'1 lol
if samara is mother, sadako is grandmother. hoping y’all will react to the original film soon. i believe it’s still the most successful japanese horror film of all time.
Fun fact the little boy in this movie was also in the 2003 chainsaw massacre remake as the little boy they found in the old barn in the beginning waiting for the sheriff
My husband and I rented this movie and watched it the night before he deployed to Iraq in the original invasion in 2003. What’s funny is that we watched it late that night and it was over around 10:30pm. I remember questioning my life choices since I was going to be ALONE for at least a year lol. As I was processing that I was an idiot, the fucking phone rang! We looked at each other and I said “it’s for you”. LMAO It ended up being his commander asking some packing question. I was like, what are the freaking odds anyone would call, much less the second the movie was over? I think about that every time this movie some up lol
when The Grudge (2004) came out in the US, a lot of us teenagers/young-adults would prank call people/friends, doing the same creepy "choking-purring" (can't think of good words for describing it, argh, ruclips.net/video/-0v24Af1KhU/видео.html ) voice on the phone (I think cellphones still weren't too much in usage, as it was still those flip phones and/or pagers, and etc, if memory serves correctly, long before the more modern smart phones like of today)
Stop it! This is the scariest movie! Saw it in theaters. Was driving home after, & was so freaked out I turned on my center console light to make sure Samara wasn't in my back seat. I keep laughing at myself for being so creeped out, then the next sec I'd get super scared & check my back seat again. It was ridiculous, & I love this messed up movie! Love ya petties. ❤
Girl, the first time I saw Samara climb out of that TV I was probably around 9 years old. Trauma for life. I'm now near 30 and scared to watch a horror movie because it will haunt me forever
I watched this movie by myself when my roommates were gone and when it was over my phone rang and I jumped! Then I slept with the light on for a week straight - this movie was possibly the scariest I have ever seen! 😂
I LOVE YOUR REACTIONS .. CAN YOU PLEASE REACT TO THESE Movies.. TRUST ME🙏 ❤ 1. The Skeleton Key 😮 (it’s going to shock and scare the shit out of you.. the twist) 2. Fear ..Mark Whalberg 3. Case 39 4. 1408 5. Fallen .. Denzel Washington 6. The Relic ..1st one in the 1990’s 7. The Astronauts Wife 8. 30 Days of Night 😮 9. Eves Bayou 10. The Believers .. Martin Sheen 11. The Game .. Michael Douglas 12. Malice .. Nicole Kidman 13. View from the Top 14. The Net .. Sandra Bullock
I remember after Rachel first viewed the tape scene,a family friend had bad timing on calling our home landline phone and it people in the house audibly scream and I cried saying "Don't answer it! Don't answer it!" 😭
I loved the difference the way she says “but he doesn’t know”, and “but I do, and I’m sorry it won’t stop” the second time as that was meant to be more menacing for the audience than it was the first time when we were meant to be sympathetic towards her. It really showcased how she’s just…evil. That’s just who she is, we were never meant to be sympathetic towards her.
This movie came out when I was in middle school - I pranked my stepsister using my gigantic first cell phone and called the landline right after the video played. She paused the VHS and answered it and I whispered “seven days” to her. She got me back by waking me up an hour before my alarm - she cranked my CD player to full volume and I jumped awake to LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOOOOOOOOOR. This is maybe the most dated thing I’ve written in a while.
This movie still holds the title as one of my favorite horror movies till this day! The way Samara had the world in a chokehold back then bitch! Ugh what a time to be alive❤
"Hopefully we get the video up before...we die." "We're gonna have to rush this one out!" "Yeah..." You two will never fail to make me laugh no matter what kind of day I'm having I swear! 😂😂
Just checking to make sure you guys are still around 8 days later! 😂 Such an iconic movie seeing it when I was little left me so scared of vhs tapes for a while lol
I recall when all my cousins and I were on a family trip and the adults were upstairs while we all sat in the basement watching this on a stormy night at my aunts place in the Oregon forests. It became one of my favorite movies!
There are FOUR movies of the American Remake. The Ring Two 2005 Sequel which follows up on Rachel and Aiden, "Rings" a 2005 short movie that takes place in between The First and second ring. And then the third movie called "Rings" (2017) which takes place 13 years after the the first two movies. The American remakes is based on the Japanese franchise version called "Ringu."
I still remember my dad got me this movie for christmas when I was a kid amongst other things. Gosh I miss my childhood. I remember the gloomy weather, the christmas house decor, everything.
A horror movie that (in my opinion) is in the same universe as The Ring- called “Case No. 39”- about a Social worker investigating a child abuse case where the adoptive parents tried to kill the girl. (FYI- She never sleeps)😮
Funny thing, I'm not sure if I've actually watched this movie or not, with all the parodies and reactions I've watched I feel like I have! I'm sure I'll live for your reaction to this ❤
I remember watching this at the cinema. When you saw Katie’s face in the closet I freaked and nearly walked out! Then when the ring video was first shown, I closed my eyes! I was totally invested in the film and it scared the hell outta me! Great film. Even to this day, Samaras face at the end absolutely scares the crap outta me!! 😂
creepy demon girls... who's the most scary/terrifying? and who would win if they fought against each other? lol (well, one, River Tam, is NOT a demon girl, but she has moments where she acts/looks like one)* Samara (US: The Ring) vs Sadako (JP: Ringu) vs Kayako Saeki (The Grudge) (and also: US version vs JP version) vs "Alessa" (it's not actually alessa, but the Devil, taking the form of Alessa to fool Rose) (Silent Hill) vs River Tam (Serenity, the conclusionary movie to the firefly tv series)* * ruclips.net/video/pFuwllLKdbE/видео.html (the River Tam session tapes) * there's also some moments/scenes in the Serenity movie itself too, but not going try to to find clips of them
So when my husband and I first started dating, I showed him this movie one evening. When I left, he went to RUclips to watch "the video" again, and as soon as it ended his phone rang. It was me telling him I made it home safe but he said he screamed like a little girl when it rang 😂
when The Grudge (2004) came out in the US, a lot of us teenagers/young-adults would prank call people/friends, doing the same creepy "choking-purring" (can't think of good words for describing it, argh, ruclips.net/video/-0v24Af1KhU/видео.html ) voice on the phone (I think cellphones still weren't too much in usage, as it was still those flip phones and/or pagers, and etc, if memory serves correctly, long before the more modern smart phones like of today)
I work at my local public library and yes we do keep that kinda stuff... micro film of old newspapers. Its fun. My youngest is also named after Samara. lol
you guys are so funny you’re the only reason i’d watch this movie again. the first time, i was 11 and had to sleep in my grandma’s bed i was so terrified of being alone.
My wife and I watched this movie on our wedding night in a hotel room in 2005. After the ceremony, after our post ceremony time together in the hotel, we were spent and decided to watch a pay per view movie and picked this one, which neither of us had seen. It scared the sh*t out of us, but we’re still married 20 years later, so …
I watched this movie by myself, and it traumatized me for months! I couldn't even sleep with the lights off. Btw, thank you, Wes for saying that you love a writer. I write for a newspaper.
I saw it when I was a teen and me and my neighbor used to throw papers through the window with the message "SEVEN DAYS" ahahaha and people opened and there was one guy that was freaked out and discovered the phone numbers and called my neighbor´s father and he started to defend us, saying that we were just playing cards ahaha
I loved this movie when I first saw it. It scared the hell out of me. I always thought it was weird how the son kept calling the mom by her first name.
The viral marketing for this was crazy - there was a website, but the bigger deal in the US was that the cursed tape was aired *with no context* (no website URL, no text, nothing to indicate that it was a trailer or anything to do with a movie) in late-night ad slots on some channels. And another promotion had unlabelled VHS tapes with the cursed tape on them left in all sorts of random locations across the US and Canada - someone found one at a concert, someone else got one that was sent to their workplace, people found them on their cars... (Someone who did get one of these promo tapes has uploaded it to RUclips, but unfortunately I've never found any actual footage of the late night airings.) If you haven't seen it, check out the bridging short Rings (here on RUclips, or on the DVD of The Ring 2). The Ring 2 isn't as good, in part unfortunately thanks to a lot of studio issues, but Rings was surprisingly good and very touching. And then check out Sinister (2012), which was directly inspired by The Ring.
Can y'all do The Grudge 2? Amber Tamblin plays Sarah Michelle Gellars sister in that one, like she's trying to find out what happened. I thought it was pretty good.
Y’all better watch The Ring Two! Especially the Unrated/Directors Cut! It is absolutely a guilty pleasure. And there’s some scenes in it that are iconic and mother behavior. Then you got the RINGS short film which was fantastic (not RINGS the movie). But it’s best watched after.
I'm surprised they haven't done a modern reboot where the video is floating around on a pirating site. Then after it's watched you get daily notifications reminding you of your number of days left. Or hell it affects your devices with un-skippable ads even with no service. Last few ads are "Offering an amazing deal" that if you show someone else the video, you'll get taken off the mailing list.
Fun Fact: There is an alt. Band called Aiden (named after the boy Aiden in this film) who went on to make a song for the movie Dead Silence! Petty Pumpkins, check that movie out next!!
My sister and bro-in-law named their farm Shelter Mountain...I told her it was a good thing she didn't have a stone well on the property. She just looked at me confused (she doesn't do horror films). I just laughed and walked away. Maybe one day I will tell her what I meant 😂
The synced reactions 22:08 are so fucking hilarious and cute 💀❤️The tape in this version is pretty freaky but the original from Ringu was *so* much better it really looks like a creepy homemade film from a deeply disturbed serial killer. Also, analog horror has taken over, but no one's tried to make something about a cursed tape?🤨🤔
This is the movie that scared me the most before I saw Sinister!! So creepy. Do you guys have The Lost Boys on your list of movies to do reactions for?
To me, this American remake is pretty tame compared to the original Japanese version so I wasn't all that freaked out when I saw it at the theater. The Japanese version had that somewhat organic approach which, to me, was pretty unnerving. Not to mention the Japanese one was quieter which made it even more unsettling. Maybe because the remake used quite a considerable number of CGIs and effects so that's why it didn't feel that effective.
Have you guys watched RINGS? Its the third ring movie. I know a lot of people hated it but I actually thought it was pretty good and it really felt like it completed the trilogy for me. I would love to see you react to that!
Fun Fact: The girl who played Samara is Daveigh Chase. The same girl who voiced Lilo in Lilo and Stitch.
She’s also chihori from spirited away
Samara’s 7 rings 😝🎀
helpp
Oh that’s
Samara's nuvo ring 😂😂
Lmao please 😭💀
"Hopefully we get to video it before we die" "Yeah, we better rush this one out" Ha ha ha ha ha ha!!
I watched this in the theater when it came out and when she busted throught the TV at the end it was like a bomb went off in the theater. People freaked out! Screaming, yelling, laughing, jumping out of their seats, it was awesome!

"She's in a living hell, living in a well, and also just a shell" :DDDD I liked that
The moment she comes through the tv will never not freak me OUT!!
My heart skipped a beat in the theater
Petty Pumpkins pulled a big brain move and shared the cursed video to the viewers so we have to share it. 😳
😂😂😂
Fun fact the little boy in this movie was also in the 2003 chainsaw massacre remake as the little boy they found in the old barn in the beginning waiting for the sheriff

Holy shit! I was also 9 years old when I watched it. I'm turning 31 this year and yes I am also traumatised! 😅
"WHY WERE THE HORSES WATCHING MOVIES?" made me choke on my drink.
I watched this movie by myself when my roommates were gone and when it was over my phone rang and I jumped! Then I slept with the light on for a week straight - this movie was possibly the scariest I have ever seen! 😂
The grudge and the ring are both originally Asian movies so that is how they are similar- they both have that aesthetic… u know what I mean?
21:44 “Why were the horses watching movies?!” 🐴 📺 can’t stop laughing lol

When this movie came out, it was released on VHS as well. When you put the tape in, Samara's video plays.
Omg that’s terrifying!! And very good marketing!

Seeing this movie back made me remember Scary Movie 3. I had a few giggles.😅
Samara is the voice of Lilo from Lilo and Stitch 🫨

I love this movie 💙
Omg that’s literally how me, my mom and sister saw this movie back in 02 was at a $1 theater 😭😭😭
Who wins in a Mother war between Samara and Naomi Watts?
Classic movie
So when my husband and I first started dating, I showed him this movie one evening. When I left, he went to RUclips to watch "the video" again, and as soon as it ended his phone rang. It was me telling him I made it home safe but he said he screamed like a little girl when it rang 😂

You guys should watch the Japanese versions of this. It’s actually a triology with the prequel being “Sadako” which gives you “Samara’s” story.
Both The Ring and The Grudge were remakes of J-Horror films, which tend to have very similar tropes and vibes.
You know...in the way Western horrors have all the same tropes and vibes.
Literally one of my favorite movies ever!! Loved this reaction you guys! Naomi and Daveigh killed it here (well everyone else did too lol)
Hope you guys can watch Omen 😂❤ mother in Orphan 2 is there 😂😂🎉
‘She’s on streaming now’ 😂
I work at my local public library and yes we do keep that kinda stuff... micro film of old newspapers. Its fun.
My youngest is also named after Samara. lol
I could literally watch y’all react to ANYTHING and be entertained! Please never stop! 🖤🤣

you guys are so funny you’re the only reason i’d watch this movie again. the first time, i was 11 and had to sleep in my grandma’s bed i was so terrified of being alone.
Petty Pumpkins are the original Cream Queens 👑💖
My wife and I watched this movie on our wedding night in a hotel room in 2005. Love it!!! One of my favourites movies!!!!! ❤
you should watch the original Japanese one : RINGU (1998)
I watched this movie by myself, and it traumatized me for months! I couldn't even sleep with the lights off. Btw, thank you, Wes for saying that you love a writer. I write for a newspaper.
The tape video can literally fit as the American Horror Story into😂
Yay! I also saw this in theaters back in 2002 when I was 14. It scarred me. Samara is like, bitch you thought?!
“Why were the horses watching movies?” 😂
What is this channels chapstick budget? Maybe I need to join patreon just to help out! But seriously great reaction love your videos.
Love your reactions. Now watch part 2, if you dare ! Lol xx
You guys are honestly hysterical!I seriously spit out my drink at one point:)
Still needing idle hands, when evil lurks and the sadness ❤ and Adam Brody is from OC and Jennifer's body BTW at the beginning
You are so cute! Love your reactions.
This makes me so happy to see. 😊😊😊 PLEASE watch the unrated extended version of The Ring 2 !!!! ♡♡♡♡
44:15 In Part 2, Rachel will have a question for Aidan about "mommy"! Please make a reaction to part 2 🙏
I was 7 when my brother made me watch this 😢… had nightmares for a whole year 😅 seeing you react to this makes me remember those unwanted times lol
If you guys get the ring and the grudge mixed up, try watching Shutter and you’ll never be able to tell them apart
(Someone who did get one of these promo tapes has uploaded it to RUclips, but unfortunately I've never found any actual footage of the late night airings.)

And then check out Sinister (2012), which was directly inspired by The Ring.
Now you need to watch The Ring 2, because you need to know more about Samara's story.
Can i request Dont Breathe or The Bad Seed. Love you guys
I looooove this movie! The scene with the fly?! It’s a fun rainy day scary film ✨
This movie is so creepy its ridiculous 😮😮
this movie traumatized me as a kid, even now as an adult i still find it the scariest movie i've ever seen 😭
Yeah ❤
Me watching this video after 7 days of its post.
What a concidence
Fun Fact: There is an alt. Band called Aiden (named after the boy Aiden in this film) who went on to make a song for the movie Dead Silence!
Petty Pumpkins, check that movie out next!!
It’s on our list!! That’s great to know 🤗
@@PettyPumpkins also, I reside in Seattle (where The Ring is filmed) and it is always that green and wet here :p
There’s a naughty spoof called “The Hole” that you two will enjoy
Oh yes another movie that absolutely ruined me as a child. 😂 the side eye I give the tv to this day is wild. 😅
I would say the V/H/S movies probably qualify.
The boy playing Aidan is the same boy from 2003s Texas Chainsaw Massacre
This is one of my favorite horror movies. Please let me know if the sequel(s) are any good -Thanks.
I'd love to see a reaction to Freaky and The Final Girls! Love all your videos! Sending hugs!
This is the movie that scared me the most before I saw Sinister!! So creepy. Do you guys have The Lost Boys on your list of movies to do reactions for?
To me, this American remake is pretty tame compared to the original Japanese version so I wasn't all that freaked out when I saw it at the theater. Have you guys watched RINGS? Its the third ring movie. I know a lot of people hated it but I actually thought it was pretty good and it really felt like it completed the trilogy for me. I would love to see you react to that!
I can’t take this movie seriously anymore because of scary movie 3
