Been running the Gryphon gear all over Eastern Canada and Newfoundland. Vancouver Jacket and Indy pants. Has kept me well protected from the elements. Warm and dry with adequete venting. Trying their mesh gear this year. Can't wait for riding season.

I like the headlight from the V Strom just hanging in the back

Pretty solid review. I was getting sad that the usual intro wasn't there. Luckily, I hung out until the end and there it was.
I always struggle so much with the right pants.

Great review, honest and funny where it counts. I've bought three items from Gryphon. Besides my initial reason that they were a Ma&Pa Canadian company: a plus but also after a few quick contacts, liked them. The Breeze Mesh Jacket, Tofino Wet/Cold Weather gloves and the Octane Rain Gear. Have one season riding with each item and can happily report satisfaction with each. Only comment might be: the Mesh Jacket in black is a complete black material, and not the dark gunmetal grey tones as it appears on the site. The gloves are great in Spring and Fall cold weather, and did stay dry in a rain ride. The Octane top and bottoms did an excellent job keeping wet from seeping in on a steady downfall from Cambridge Narrows to Fredsvill on the last leg of a NS south shore/Caper Breton ride last October (VStrom 650XA). When my Oxford Montreal2 jacket finally disintegrates, I'll probably look at Gryphon's line. ...And what's cooler than their reflective Gryphon logo - feel like yer an elite order of knight... er something.

Thank you for the kind compliments! You do feel like an elite order of ass-kicking knights with that logo haha.I'm glad to hear that your experience with Gryphon Moto was a positive one. We need more affordable sources of ADV gear!

    The H is silent in Kat(h)mandu ✌🏻
Great feedback on the Gryphon items, we sell them at the shop I work at in Halifax but haven’t heard much about them yet.

I’ve had that gear five years, how has no one corrected me?! I may just have to double down… pronounce the “TH” and put an emphasis on the wrong syllable, I feel like that’s “on brand”… right? 😂🤜
What would you say is your closest gear setup in terms-of cost/performance?

@@TTADV haha, Kathmandu is in Nepal.
I don’t know about other kit for $1000, I’m very interested in looking at the Alpinestars Halo Drystar jacket for about $600, but not convinced Drystar is that waterproof.
I generally buy used good Rukka gear on Kijiji with Gore-Tex/Superfabric/Armacore etc.

Nice honest review. Yes, gear prices are ridiculous nowadays. I get most of my gear used on forums like advrider.

Sorry to hijack the comments regarding budget gear, but I need help finding one of you past videos. I'm trying to find the beginning of the Thin-Stron project, where you remove the headlight and fairing from your V-Strom. That would be before the unpacking of the Rally Tower. THANK YOU!

Thanks for this. I was looking at a Klim Induction Pro mesh jacket but I keep getting drawn back to this. Yes I can afford the Klim but I am a thrifty fellow, not cheap. If I have to spend the money I will but this looks like I will not have to. I too have a Kathmandu jacket and that sucker just weighs a tonne and does not flow a lot of air so wanted a Mesh jacket that I can toss a rain jacket on if needed. I got mine about 2018 and was stunned when you posted the new prices. I have a 2023 Tiger 1200 so do some off road but nothing really gnarly. Would love your thoughts...thanks.

Hi Mike! Much respect, everyone should be “voting” with their dollar. ✊
In response to your thoughts on the weight of the Kathmandu; unfortunately, I suspect you will not enjoy the weight of the Vancouver jacket, that puppy is a monster. It’s probably the best 4 season jacket available at that price point. The Gryphon Vancouver jacket has great protection and features, but weight and perspiration evaporation are not a strong suit of that jacket IMO. If ventilation is important to you and you prefer mesh jackets, I think you may actually be better off choosing a dedicated mesh jacket.
      I hope this helps.
      -Colin

@Trail Trash ADV I was thinking of the Gryphon Mesh jacket but if the quality on the Vancouver is good I would assume the same would hold true for the mesh jackets too. Will see if I can try one on and see how it feels. Thanks again.

Curious... Did the black stay black or did it fade or discolour over the seasons?
Any experience with their mesh jacket? I'm more of a touring biker than off road... So light mesh and a layered approach is more my style...
    Thanks

The black stayed black aside from the dirt I got on it 😂 Unfortunately I have not used their mesh jacket. There was another fellow who had the mesh jacket and said he absolutely loved it.
