Hi Jason Shades, just for fun, I have heard on another video where the poster where, according to the official biography, the manager at the time was...well he was pissed up and dancing with a "Lola" and at the end of the night didn't care. But also it was cited that Ray Davies wrote the song while drinking and hanging out an (at the time very illegal) private drag show club. He was cheeky and coy during the song, but it was not written as a mockery of the LGBT community but as a fun song about taking love in whatever shape or form it comes in. As an LGBT person myself, I am stunned because this song came out in 1970 way ahead of it's time, and was among the first commercially successful LGBT+ songs
... been loving this song for over 50 years!!!!
