What a charming personality. Normally someone this enthusiastic gets grating but he's just having such a good time.
Genuine childlike wonder is a gem.
yup, The Librarian is one of my favorite youtubers out there. He does Urbex and really enjoys the vibe of "creepy and comfy". When I watched his Urbex videos and heard him say how his favorite feeling is find his way to the other side of a locked, barred door, I knew this game was for him.
What ensued was nearly half a year of me pestering him on his Discord to play this game (normally he only does horror games). I'm very proud of having one of the causes for this playthrough lol.
He reminds me of aliensrock. Enthusiastic but not in a fake RUclipsr way
@@ngwooit's a shame aliensrock does do more traditional let's plays, I'd love to see him play stuff like OW and Tunic
@@Imperial_Squidi believe he has said he won't play it
19:27 The Librarian: “What do we do next?” The Sun: “I shall solve this dilemma”
26:13 Wow, you can just see the Stranger overlapping the sun. This was nearly a very different playthrough.
I thought so too, but that's actually just a bit of the ship's front window.
26:30 It is there at the top left
@@CatoticJr Good catch! It's actually it that time.
Woof!
"This isn't what I was looking for, but I have to know more." Outer Wilds in a nutshell.
I can't believe he came so close to accidentally discovering ATP
"I can already tell this game is gonna be all about those vibes."
Anyone who's played the game knows exactly what this means.
It's always a good day when Eelis posts a new Outer Wilds supercut!
real
he won me instantly when he mentioned kerbal space program
13:20 wait he didn't use a spacesuit.... I've never seen someone land perfectly in the "air bubble" on their first flight.
This guy would fit in perfectly with the nomai
2:02:21 "This is so, *creepy*! Chasing a dead man's harmonica song through a fog on a distant planet inhabited by some hostile creatures."
Well, when you put it like THAT!
Loved seeing him go from disliking the loop to understanding it and appreciating it. Everyone goes on such unique journeys through this game, it's so cool to watch ::D
36:45 I love these moments when the Quantum Moon is right in front of someone before they know what it is, and it appears and disappears AS he's talking about it haha
This was such a breath of fresh air. Just a dude who is very enthusiastic about games and explpration.
10/10
This was me on my playtrough
The idea of the hearthian carelessness making its mark on the translation was a cool thought! I hope we get to see the playthrough of the DLC as well
2:32:56 something thats easy to not realize, that is indeed solanum's body at the south pole. With the QM existing in a quantum state, every possible reality exists at once unless observed. When the QM is at any location other than the 6th location, that is where solunam was when the ghost matter exploded and died (in fact, even her body position changes when you look at the body multiple times). Only when Solunam was on the QM while it orbited the 6th location was she safe from the ghost matter and in turn is still alive. All other locations she died at.
Thank you for this, theres a lot to piece together in this game and this makes a lot of sense to me
@@SangheiliSpecOp This community is borderline obsessive. People will be happy to answer or theorize anything with you lol
@@Blewlongmun yeah, I love it. Every time I think I've seen everything the game has to offer, I learn something new. I just learned that you can see the probe in space floating around the eye that was shown in the dlc, that blew my mind
@@SangheiliSpecOpI recently learned that the probe that gets shot out to search for the eye everytime you start the cycle, gets shot out in literally every direction... Meaning it can shoot you right in the face as you wake up 😂
She is an embodiment of Schrodinger's cat, both alive and dead until you're at a specific location on the QM.
my favorite pass time now is just watched smart people play through outer wilds, just watching them discover stuff and give their thoughts in so much detail is amazing
Something i just realised
At the end of each time loop, the data enters a black hole, and then exits a white hole at the beginning of a new loop.
the game begins at the end of the universe, with an entirely black screen, and ends with an entirely white screen, at the beginning of a new universe.
fucking love this game
We have gathered once again fellow explorers ::) Thank you again Eelis ♥
something about the importance of context as pointed out here really matters. you can't have wonder without a sense of normal and I'm seeing now how the rustic backdrop supports preparing the ground for wonder to happen, and isn't just a quirky art decision as I'd thought.
5:40 mentioning the chekovs gun of how useful taking pictures seems to be in the game. Good thing to notice.
1:51:45 This is pretty how much how I felt... Poke and Pye were my favorite Naomai.
33:50 never seen someone notice this shortcut before going into the city, some people dont even notice it after going in it lol
I actually never have known about it. I was so confused to see it in the video!
With all of the attention to detail to this game, I'm really surprised they overlooked taking off your helmet while your ship's oxygen is vented.
He speaks in such an infectiously beautiful way
at first i thought he just talked alot but i am quickly realizing he pays more than enough attention to compensate for his hefty dialogue, good choice for a supercut.
"You don't have a lot of time to spare, but in that fact, you have all the time in the world,"
Perfect!
YES! I was hoping you'd do The librarian, he's got such a unique let's play style that gels so well with Outer Wilds and I loved his playthrough when I watched it on his channel.
I always love that initial terror reaction to the memory statue. Great edit as always!
the very casual "we're gonna kiss at some point" before he goes back to reading solanum's text fucking broke me
Another fantastic supercut. This guy perfectly quoted some of my favorite video essay quotes about this game spontaneously while playing, really nailing home how “human” some of those reactions and feelings about this game can be.
The NerdCubed speech will go down in history
His reactions to meeting gabbro and feldspar are just the best haha
I really like how gentle their voice is, makes the more calming sections of the game seem extra calming, even when the sun is exploding.
I hope the developers come and watch these people enjoy their game as it's truly a masterpiece
There's a speedrun that the devs do a reaction video for. It's pretty good
You can usually find one or two commenting in livestreams of the game.
I hardly see people that enjoy contrasting concepts like our Librarian does. I'm happy to know you're out there enjoying the weird.
"There's no way the legendary Feldspar made his camp within the long-dead remains of a horror" I mean, that's pretty much who Feldspar is in a nutshell, lol.
On a related note, how amazing is it that you can understand the personalities of each of the Hearthians, even if you won't interact with them more then a couple of times. They start feeling like friends when you see them at the end, and completely understand when everyone comments "Gabbro is...well.. Gabbro".
1:24:00 holy goat of a nomai ...
1:42:31 "unless we find something new" he says, the ice melting
kinda crazy he found the shortcut to the sunless city
1:24:00 god that was close lol
I put the comments to new to find this ahahahaha i was like "NO WAY NO WAY"
36:40 was a nice subtle moment
the thumbnail looks sick
If you Google "outer wilds wallpaper" a few images down the whole thing can be seen, showing more planets and even the Stranger. Beautiful art I use it for my laptop background
Watching this while sipping coffee from my "Don't Forget the Marshmallows" mug. Thank you for putting these all together :)
I love enthusiastic he is about the universe, the mechanicas and absolutely everything 🥺
1:59:33 That... that was a rather clean landing... wow
One of these days we're going to get an outer wilds tier-list-likr. Or maybe just rewards for "most comfy" "most adventurous" etc
I never knew you could actually land the ship at the black hold forge.
Guilty
bro i love you, sometimes i just have a need to watch someone play outer wilds for the first time and you are saving me
Thanks for another supercut! Always nice to meet new creators through outer wilds, such a charismatic dude
I remember watching his playthrough when it first came out, and it's one of the few I mnaged to actually sit through and enjoy without boredom! Great supercut as always Eelis!
48:59 I'm sad he had to rush through this text, it's one of my favorite lines in the game. I've even thought it would make a cool tattoo
His voice is just perfect, actually gives me ASMR and I love it
i do not know why but i always feel compelled to watch each new outer wilds supercut. Maybe im trying to recapture the magic from the first playthrough. But anyway thank for doing this and making me discover many great youtubers !
For me, the moment that I entered the lost module in the core of giants deep is when the stakes soared to levels unseen. The mystery of the Eye of the universe unravelled in my mind and I felt like a true detective of a story that so many like me had experienced. this game is the best. its a shame I watched so many videos prior to playing the game myself
I spoiled so much of it for myself. but I still had alot to explore and experience
Woaw! Another one!
Thank you!
I love this channel so much! Thank you for making these, I know it can be quite time consuming making these. We appreciate it!
ok but I didn't find a single person talking about just how insane it is that when he landed on the atlerock for the first time he didn't put a suit on and survived because of how close he was to the trees
Your supercuts introduce me to so many awesome streamers including The Librarian! Thanks for the work really 💙
Eelis you do such a good job on editing these gigantic videos together, thank you for making these
24:05 somehow more hilarious than it should've been lol
Thank you for introducing me to more and more creators
thank you so much for these uploads
i also love when you caption a smiley face but you do it as a hearthian with four eyes ::)
45:47 cool moment, he's piecing it together
NEW EELIS POST OMTGRFDH IM SO HAPPY
one of the two channels i actually have youtube notifs on for
aaaah thank you for Outer Wilds super cut!
Dude I freaking love the Librarian, thanks again for these amazing edits
36:40 that was pretty funny
lmao that was great
I love this person’s voice!
I've never seen anyone get to the Tower of Quantum Trials from below before.
12:22 Wait, is his ship's tracker focusing on The Stranger on his literal first launch? Wild timing.
No the split second lock on is on the satellite, you can see the red flash in the middle
That Buster Keaton reference at 1:38:29 is what won me over 100%. What a man of culture. Great playthrough!
46:52 !!!!! so far he’s the only let’s player i’ve seen that realizes this and i’m super glad
My jaw dropped at 2:18:55. Literally never seen anyone do that after 25+ full playthroughs of this game
thank you so much for the update
Awh, he never figured out what really happened to the “living” ancient.
Im so happy more and more.people are playing this fantastic game ❤
1:24:00 ☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
I was looking for someone to mention this XD
imagine
The unrelenting optimism that the Nomai somewhere are still alive throughout this is admirable
It's amazing how many people brute force their way to the black hole forge haha
Holy shit the timing at 49:00 destroys me emotionally ::c
1:43:50 Indeed, I never understood this: only a single next version of the protagonist has an illusion of continuity, every current version dies for real. So, you don't 'respawn', you create a short-living offspring.
Its the same in soma, kinda annoying how most people don't seem to get it
The nomai actually debate which viewpoint is correct, on the upper platform of the statue workshop.
@@FadkinsDiet They were talking about point of view of currently existing individual but not the fact that every one of them has illusion of immortality but in reality hopelessly dies in 20 minutes for real, perpetuating the illusion for the next one. In this matter point of view doesn't matter because distinction between illusion and reality is a provable fact and not philosophical choice.
@@PredatoryQQmber Soma isn't a physical proof of anything though it's just a logical theory used for the story. They specify in Soma it's a "copy and paste" not a "cut and paste", that distinction is never made here only whether the physical body is required. The "self" easter egg implies it's a copy because your clone remembers the last cycle from YOUR perspective, the fact Gabbro remembers the statue animation however implies the opposite. "I see my MEMOROIES in reverse" So whoever observes the statue is already aware of those memories. That implies it's a "cut then undo then paste" situation which is even weirder!
Your continuity is true unlike SOMA but the fact that you are your memories is also still true. This falls inline with the warp pads, even though they're technically duplicating their consciousness get's stitched together coherently.
@@Blewlongmun Sounds like whole bunch of illogical coping and bad analogies. For one, "cut and paste" in computing is an illusion too: in reality it's "1) copy from source into temporary memory; 2) delete source; 3) copy from temporary memory into destination; 4) delete temporary memory". The fact is that memory/consciousness *is* the state of material object (brain) and indivisible from it, unless you believe in religious idea of souls. So I'm not even aware of any theoretical basis for possibility of it being anything but a copy deluded into thinking it lived longer than moment of its awakening with new memories. But this is also why time-travel is a magical bullsh|t that denies science.
a 3 hour supercut? oh yes. im going to watch that
yeah i love the at le rock its my favorite *checks notes* asteroid
1:23:57 it's so sad seeing him so close to discover the ATP, and he just barely missed it.
Thank you!!!
This is awesome
7:10 FINALLY SOMEONE WHO PRONOUNCED ATTLEROCK THE SAME AS I DID (I know it's wrong but that's how I read it my whole playthrough until hearing someone say it normally lol)
Unidentified signal nearby
Wow that’s the only time I’ve ever seen someone get to the tower of quantum trials from below! Didn’t know it was possible, but honestly makes sense hehe
It endlessly amuses me that the Hearthians have literally discovered black hole based warp technology and the only thing they use it for is to recall their camera back to their camera gun.
Also, to explain the glitch at 1:05:53 he fell into the black hole, and his ship fell in immediately after. It warped to white hole station, and because the inside of the ship is hollow, it could warp to the same position as him, because he can occupy the hollow space inside the ship. However, because he never actually hit the prompt to enter his ship, the game doesn't recognize him as inside the ship. The only thing that gets the game to recognize that you're inside the ship is the enter ship prompt, and the only thing that gets the game to recognize you as outside the ship is exiting, ejecting, or breaching the hull. Because he isn't technically "inside" the ship (even though he actually is), it doesn't load the ships local atmosphere, and instead uses the atmosphere of the environment around him. Therefore, when he automatically removes his helmet when sitting down, he suffocates, because the game thinks he's without a helmet in space. It also allows you to drown inside your ship on giant's deep.
Of course, his oxygen tank was broken, so he would suffocate while piloting the ship outside an atmosphere regardless, but this occurs even with a fully undamaged ship.
Slate being called cute is a first :D
About the translation into hearthian: there are certainly mistranslations like the "injured" Vessel, so who knows how close we actually are?
Though I've thought of mistranslation, I settled on the idea that Nomai didn't distingush between animate and inanimate in their language and so use the same words like 'injured' or to 'ask' for both themselves and everything else, especially considering how they treat the eye.
hell yeah, the horror movie protagonist playing outer wilds supercut
Thanks for making all these. You're doing our small community a great service.
im not even gonna lie, i cried when i beat this game cause I had thought up this idea of what the game's true meaning is about, and i still believe its about the idea of letting go. Spoilers below a bit
The supernova in Outer Wilds is something you can't stop, but you can try by going to the eye of the universe, but even by the time you get there, you still end up experiencing a "supernova" of sorts, in the shape of a literal big bang, which simply restarts the cycle over again. The only way to live with it is to let go of the idea of stopping it, kinda like how gabbro did on giant's deep, he just doesn't care.
5:32 D-Did he just jumped to his dead? Lmao
It's been truly surprising to me how many people thought of either "get out of the ship", or "use the scout as bait", when learning the Biology of the Anglerfish. It's fairly simple (when using a controller, as the game recommends) to just use a very small amount of power from your rockets to navigate around the planet quietly. I assumed everybody else figured that out as well, but so many people in these compilations boost too hard and get heard, and end up thinking they misunderstood how they're supposed to take advantage of the Fish being blind. Just something interesting i noticed
Another thing to consider is people playing this on PC don’t have the option to only slightly boost
With a controller you do, but the amount of thrust you can actually use is very, very small. you get a larger window of control without the ship. What I think is nice is that the ship actually has a pressable emergency ejection button that pops the cockpit off the ship and sends it forward. you can set your angle, thrust forward, and quickly eject, leaving the anglers to wreck your ship while you coast silently at much larger speeds. and when you're setting things up for a given location, and you have the knowledge... you only need to do it _once_ for a given loop.
1:34:00 whelp another hatchling to scrape off the floor.
Common Eelis W
You should consider doing a quick cut of the limited parts Day9 played through. Would be popular i bet
didn’t he only play like 2 hours? you might as well just watch his whole playthrough
1:43:29 nice reference, lol. Soma was great.
Hold on, I've never seen the computer at 1:07:50 before. Was this another thing that got added with the DLC? If so I'm surprised I haven't seen it in other playthroughs!
I do recall seeing it on my playthrough, before I even got the DLC.
It was added post launch but prior to EOTE. A nice little extra piece of lore I thought.
