- Tris Imboden (Chicago) plays and talks about DW's Collector's Series Maple/Mahogany drums.
The Collector's Series "Maple/Mahogany" shell is a benchmark in our never-ending evolutionary quest to offer YOU the sound you have in your head. Nearly by mistake, we paired vertical Mahogany outer and inner plies with our "VLT" Maple core, and the result is pure magic; A modern kit with vintage warmth and ideal sustain that can adapt to any style of music depending on heads and tuning. And because it is a Collector's Series, it's made in our Custom Shop in Oxnard, California to your exact custom size, feature, and finish specifications.

Tris Imboden is a great inspiration, I fell in love with DW and Tris' style when I watched Chicago Live In Concert At the Greek Theatre 1993.... Wonderful dums, Wonderful drummer
Very musical player. Tris is the nicest guy too!
It is ancient secret rudiment of good vibes that Tris has perfected!
That snare sound is to die for...
I have an old DW kit from 1996, and I have to say my favorite part about it is that I can hit the drum, hear it has an actual pitch, and then walk over to my piano and find that same pitch. I'm glad to see you could still do the same with the newer models
Thanks for your feedback!
I heard Tris in the band of Al Jarreau in the eightys and he was amazing. I will never forget this.
This guy has made these drums sound better than any other artist I've heard.
First Heard Bill Ward Playing this kit live at a clinic, and it sounded amazing! I love how melodic these drums are in this Tris Imboden video!!! I like them so much, that I went and bought a set from my local dealer over the weekend. They still amaze me!
It's all about enjoying yourself with your art. We encourage that everyday!
Right on DW hopefully one day I can get a DW drum set because right now I have a Ludwig
Looks as good as it sounds. Gorgeous set all day long. Beautiful tone.
Thanks! The snare is a 7x13 Maple/Mahogany shell!
Wow sounds like you have been quite a collector of the Collector's series! Again thanks so much! Great to hear you are playing so many gigs. Sounds like you are having a fun drumming experience on your M/M's. We wish you many more!
Glad you are liking it! Thanks!
Thanks for your feedback! Have a great time drumming and we will stand by for you when you are ready for a DW kit!
These drums sound FANTASTIC! As Tris said, very melodic toms!

8x10,9x12,12x14,14x16,18x22 in natural lacquer- 5.5x14 Black TI Snare. I gigged out with it the entire holiday weekend. Being impressed would be an understatement!!! When Tris Mentions how melodic these are he is NOT kidding! They are melodic, but all the tone underneath is incredible. I'm no stranger to DW Collectors as this is #4 since 1996, but this one impresses me more than any other!
Tris IS amazing! Great guy with great drumming skills. Cheers from California!!
I just love to watch Tris play!
Well we're happy you liked it at least! Thanks!
great sounds, and great Tris!!!!!
Thanks so much! Tris does a really nice performance, too!
Amazing bass drum sound!
We hear you and we appreciate your suggestion! We'll see what we can do!
Glad you are liking it! It is a 7x13 also in the M/M shell.
We're with you!
Yes it is! Jimmy's most recent kit is a Stainless Steel lacquer with Maple/Mahogany shells.
Tris is sweet! Great attitude and a great player. Thanks for watching!
Alright! Thanks so much!
DW drums are like holy gral....you can look on them, listnig to them but you never aford them :) grate drums
Our pleasure! Birch does have the punchy, low sustained quality to it making it a very stand alone type of shell. Our Birch shells do carry these qualities for sure!
So very musical!
Well said! Tris does have a very musical style on the kit. This was one of our favorites to edit for sure. Thanks for watching!
Skill is about having fun playing drums and learning! We are ready to make you a kit when the time comes for you!
Thanks for liking the snare sound! This snare is a 7x13 Maple/Mahogany!
These drums sound so amazing, I am a yamaha guy and I am contemplating selling my recording custom kits and my oak kits and switching to DW
We do not assume the whole market wants super resonant drums. That is why we offer Birch shells and the Classic Series kits. The Classic Series actually comes with a butter style edge on it to cut down on resonance. The Maple/Mahogany shells are a combo of shells that give warmth and sustain and punch. This is what this video is showing for our viewers. Thanks for your feedback!
you make em sound insane bro!
We do not do any pricing or direct sales from our factory here. Check the specs below on this kit and feel free to contact your local authorized dealer for pricing and ordering info.

Nice! Almost 49ers colors. :) You got all the sizes covered, too. Enjoy! We hope you have found a snare to compliment your kit!
Thanks so much! We love your profile pic!
Thanks for asking! Our dealers are in complete control of what they inventory. Of course we can make suggestions about drums they have in their shops but it is their choice ultimately on what they stock. We do appreciate you asking and we'll keep birch in mind for future videos!
Wow its crazy to think that 96 is a older time for us. The time has flown by! Thanks for choosing DW! We pride ourselves on doing our very best to make musical drum shells. What sizes and finish type are you working with??
To each is own and everyone's opinion matters to us! Butter is smooth! We are sure everyone can agree with that. ;)
What Rudiment does he use at 0:44-0:46? I've been dying to wrap my sticks around it for yonks.

Love the sound of Butter styled edge, very buttery lol, sorry if sounded on a rant, it's a subject I'm quite passionate about, like the holy grail of that EQ'd sound and even retro sound me & many other drummers crave for.
Absolutely!
Thanks for choosing the Maple/Mahogany series! What sizes and finish type did you go for??
It's a red glass finish ply with 24k gold hardware, and it was a 10, 12, 14, 16 toms, and two 22 kicks. Unfortunately, I got it used, and the previous owner chose to keep the snare.
I hope to represent time with my art and nothing better sitting in my kit.
Sounds like Duke's Lullaby, by Steve Gadd!! Tris is an inspiration!
We can pretty much do whatever you want! When you are looking for something custom like that it's always best to hit up our customer service guys(customerservice@dwdrums(dot)com) for specific tonal questions.
that snare sounds great! what are the specs on that baby?
Hi, could you please tell me what ride is that? Looks like a PAISTE Dark Energy Dry ride, but I'm not sure, thanks!
Natural lacquer!
amazing snare sound. what snare is he using?
For style points of course! :)
we have this kitttttttttttttt :)
0:45 what's he doing...the flams on the snare for triplets...how does he do it
When did Tris shave his head and why?
Will you guys make Jimmy DeGrasso video soon?
I wonder how golden ratio would work with sizes 1,64 or something
Yes, agree with that Buttery Smooth, lol.

What finish is this?
"THAT GREAT GRETSCH SOUND" is where it's at!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@stevenfederico2594 yeah it’s pretty sad the dunky sound DW has… they should’ve stuck with the keller shells… but your comment was very educational and insightful🙄
@@artcorvolet glad i could help

Without lightning!
What's so cruel about good vibes?? :)
So musical right?!?

Dukes lullabye, steve gadd
Pearl Reference? :-)
Cruel.
It's ok, I've worked it out.
Thanks.
We wouldn't be apposed to it!
Not all drummers love RINGY drums, why do the whole market assume all drummers want ringing, high sustain from the toms and some cases the snare, many drummers like myself, don't want put lots of dampening aids on our drums to control them, even when we've used good tuning methods.
Not here! :)
i love this guy! why isnt there a competion where i can win these basterds... becourse it is very good work!
;-)
Where is his hair?
