In prep for buying a new kit soon, over the last few years I have listened to close to 100 sound demo videos.
None of them can touch this video.
Thanks for minimizing how much you used the ride and crash cymbals. It made it so much easier to hear the drums.🎉🎉🎉

Excellent video!! I have a DW kit and tuning is one of my favorite topics, been working about more than a year for it. Obviously watched dozens of videos, read notes, comments, charts etc. Tuned my drums maybe 30 times from the beginning, replaced 3-4 different drum head types. I’m not a pro but can say now I have some idea about tuning. This detailed frequencies and sound comparison are extremely helpful and understandable for choosing the drums. So far the best I’ve seen. Thanks a lot for all the effort.

interesting notes for me. the Pure Cherry was amazing being my biggest surprise! didn't expect them to have so much punch on the mahogany combinations specially on the toms, the cherry spruce kick was really punchy as well. I didn't fall in love with any floors, meh... great video guys! nice stick work Isaias! might note heads used for watchers as well

Great comparing video!!! As I like clean, musical sounds with sustain but in tone and not the OINGGGGGG on the end ending up an octave higher then the beginning note, I came to the Pure Cherry as my favourite because on all toms they sounded the same (a shame of the snare buzz in the 3rd section). They almost sound pre-eq'd..!! The purple hearts on 2nd. I really didn't dig the Spruce added to most woods but on the Cherry Spruce it sounded the best. In my opinion a lot sounded good on say 10" but not on the 12" or 16"...I really don't understand they don't make use of different woodtypes for a set (like the Pearl Pure Select). The Santa Monica...ohhh my god...NO!!! I own a 2008 Collector and a TAMA Star Walnut I'ld really like to see a Walnut DW. Such a beautiful sounding wood!!!

Pure Birch or Pure Purpleheart. The birch bass drum does lack umph, but the rest just has musicality for days. Purpleheart was so consistent, entire kit sounded lovely. Cherry-Mahogany was rich dark tones but kinda choked with the wrap finish; needs satin stain or lacquer finish for the wood to be more tonal. Not sure why no kits with Gum wood weren't included?

Pure Cherry demo would benefit of a repeat without the extra looseness of the snares. In spite that problem they sounded most musical with all shells giving about the same long sustain that lets them "sing" beautifully.

Why are you tuning your snares to two different hz i was always taught that drums are supposed to be tuned to the same settings top & bottom because it puts uneven stress on the shell and when recording will cause a drum to sound warped especially when both sides are micd! Is that untrue because its been taught to me by some very famous drummers who've been playing for over 1/2 century!
