HOW FAR CAN WE THROW? (BACKHAND & FOREHAND)

  • Hey guys! 😀🤘
This is actually one of the most learnful videos (for me) we´ve made so far on this channel. Yes we are throwing as far as possible. But that includes how far one should actually throw a putter, midrange, fairway driver and distance driver...with control. Later in the video me and Johannes do try to throw as far as physically possible tho :) - backhand and forehand.
I do recommend you too try the exercice in this video to learn your discs capacity more. Please let me know how it goes :).
    Have a great day!
    /Jonathan

Hey guys! The flightnumbers on Saint and Claymore are incorrect in the video. Correct is: Saint (9 | 7 | -1 | 2) and Claymore (5 | 5| -1 | 1). Also some of the distance numbers are messed up. This will probably maybe not happen again. Sorry boat that. key bye 🤘❤ /Jonathan

The very fact that he's already throwing 360 ft proves that field practice outweighs playing the course with respect to an individual wanting to improve his own skills. His growth has been very quick and has been also very fun to watch. Good job brother.

    • @vocalimpactplays217

Yeah, field work is huge just because it lets you repeat your throwing motions until you "feel it" - having those reps (and filming yourself, in my experience) lets you improve your form pretty quickly. My anecdotal example is that my absolute max used to be 250, with most throws going 200-220, then I stopped playing and just did field work every other day for a month and a half - my current max is now 370-380 with drives usually going 310-350, and midranges/putters are now technically hitting their max distances (at least, max in terms of how far they're supposed to be thrown) while making the correct flight shapes. Still more distance to unlock, too!

I played for one year only backhand because the couple times I tried forehand it was a disaster. One day I decided on a whim to try forehand and parked it under the basket from the tee. It really opened my eyes. To me the motion for backhand is more complex and there is a lot of room for something to go wrong. Forehand is more straightforward and I can easily put my arm strength behind it.

This is a great video (and exercise), especially for people like me who think they "should" be able to throw discs further than they actually can. When we watch the pros, we see how far they throw different types of discs and for some reason we (i.e., me) think we can throw those same discs that distance too. Well, we (i.e., me again) can't. So, it's good to know that we can't throw our putters 400 ft, or even 300 ft, or even 200 ft accurately. I can't even throw my distance drivers 300 ft accurately (or sometimes at all).

    Two words.. "Field work"
It might sound boring but it will make you better in so many ways:
    1. No stress because of trees. You can throw "freely".
    2. You can see and learn how your discs fly. Extremely important.
    3. You can concentrate purely on the throw and see the results immediately.
When you don't have to stress because of trees, or stress about getting near the basket you can concentrate on the feel of the throw.
This is SO important and I don't see this information in instructional videos.
In the field, when you accidentally hit that perfect shot (After many failed attempts), you can see it and you can feel how it felt to throw that shot.
This is how you learn to control your body, by FEELING, not by thinking.
There is so much happening in every split second of the throw that nobody can follow that with thinking about it. Mind can concentrate only on one thing at a time.
But you can FEEL how it felt in your body when you threw that perfect shot.
Then what you do, is your goal is to duplicate that feeling the next time you throw, and you will start to get more and more of those perfect shots.
