Now, you stated in this video that you prefer the OEM diag. scan tool; would that be the Tech2win with MDI interface for 2014 and older duramax and the GDS2 with the MDI2 interface for 2015 and younger duramax? Does the OEM scan tool give the "DTC status"? Thankyou for clearing up other confusing matters for me concerning the SCR system on the duramax. There is a great deal of misinformation out there and I am having to filter thru a good bit of it. Eric O. has been a great help at S.M.A.
Actually I use my Zeus quite a bit lately. It is one of the few scan tools out there that doesn’t stop working if you don’t update it. Plus been using it in classes checking labscope waveforms. But to be honest I have several scan tools. JALTEST just sent me one of their units to review. I also have a few others like my Ford IDS. As for the Duramax info it’s all in the service manual under description and operation. The DTC STATUS is in my tech 2 and on Global GDS 2 but I can’t stand that program since it takes so much to get it going. I use Identifix since it uses links straight to the OE. In Vegas Clark county it is a dynamometer test which looks at opacity levels. If there is a check engine light or code set yet it passes the test. Meaning it can pass even though a check engine light or code set.
