    Thanks for the video!! Did the job today with my son. Extra hands helped for sure. Tip for others. I had 2 bolts to undo from the wheel well in order to get the tray lifted.
    I also soaked the bushing in HOT water to make it more playable. Added dish soap for lubrication.

      s2focused good thinking about the bushing! And yeah I tried to explain there’s two other bolts I just didn’t show it. Unreal how much bolts for a battery tray. Glad you got it fixed!

    Great info man, good job in explaining. That Dorman 14055 is the perfect part replacement, its the smaller bushing. Found in autozone, oreillys, or napa. Folks if you are doing this job, the battery try removal is a pain and be patient.

      14055 is the one! The smaller clear bushing to be exact .. any autozone or oriellys store will have it.. I just put some lil grease/ Vaseline to make it pop in easier and sure enough.. easy fix. Definitely don’t take your battery box out. Just the two screws for the shifter base and should be an easier fix.

    Just gonna put this out there you don't have to remove anything if you have good gloves and sleeves on you can replace this bush in about 30 mins or so. I got a pair of side cutters cut the old bushing off, got a new bushing shaved off just a tiny bit of the top part that goes into the transmission cable part. Shove it onto the nipple where the cable goes then pop the cable on top.
    Just did this job for a customer in a mall parking lot for 60$ good luck y'all

    I just did it on my son’s car I just undid the 2 bolts that hold the cable on to the engine/transmission. Then I could reach my hand underneath the battery box and pulled the cable forward and to the left. From there I popped out the old broken bushing and pressed the new one in which was a pain with the amount of space I had access to.
    I used the same GM part as this video.

    Disconnect the 2 side electrical plugs from the battery. Remove the 2 bolts holding down the shift cable bracket. From there, it's simple to install the new bushing, given you have the kit with the little plastic installation tool and a pair of pliers or the like. Just did this today.

    As an update...as of today, August 22, 2019, the recall part is not yet approved by NHTSA and, therefore, is not available. The dealer won't replace this free of charge if it is outside of your power train warranty. I am at 114K, so definitely outside of the 10/100,000 warranty. I talked with the Recall Division of Chrysler/Fiat/Whatever and if you are out of warranty, they instruct you to pay the dealer to have the OEM part put on and they will reimburse you after the recall cable has been put on and you turn in paperwork requesting reimbursement. But...since the part is not available, we don't know how long before it will be available, and then how long it will take for Chrysler to actually reimburse you when you turn in all of your paperwork. Also, what if the car is sold? You will either never get the paperwork for the recall replacement, the new owner will. OR if you are involved in a wreck that totals the car, you are now out that money because the recall part will never be put on. I chose this repair. Because, for me, this is $485 parts and labor and I shouldn't have to pay because they can't get their stuff fixed.

    • @jbonet4569
      @jbonet4569 5 лет назад

      Also, replacing the cable is like a 3.5 hour job. They have to remove the center console, the lower dash, and pull back carpet just to get to where the cable comes into the car. Then add in the time to actually remove/replace the cable and put humpty dumpty back together...

    Dude I can not get the clear bushing into the shift cable, no matter what I do. Any ideas?

      logandancer4063 I had to spray or use lubrication. The bushing will flex it’s just tough as hell. I used a flat head screwdriver to help force it in.

      Tomorrow morning I'm taking mine to the dealer for a factory recall repair. The shifter cable is under recall V34. within the last couple of days the parts department has been receiving the bushing instead of the whole cable so that is what I am getting replaced tomorrow. It is worth checking into. 2014 SXT with a tie wrapped shift linkage cable.
