Aikido has some neat principles that can deepen your understanding of manipulation of center of gravity. If you know judo, bjj, or wrestling, it can help you, but it won't do anything on its own.
He's not legit. He married the daughter of a grandmaster, was gifted his black belt, then left her to become a movie star I America. My sensei trained with him.
He uses the same move every time. If I noticed with no clue about martial arts then someone who does would probably change tactics or simply aim for the gut because you can’t miss
Well 98% of the videos of him fighting are scripted movie fights and the other 2% are him acting like he’s really fighting while opponents willingly jump and flip around for him making him look untouchable
Aikido is all about redirecting force, and then dozens of locks get employed. There is no wrestler who could beat an aikido master. I would really like to see a fight between a Brazilian Judo master like Gracie, against an aikido master.
My friend trained in Japan in yoshinkan aikido. A huge Azerbaijani ,6.5 230lbs was arm locking all the other students. The instructor saw this and came up to the guy and said do me. The guy used both hands on the Japanese instructor. Tried with all his force until red in the face. Then the instructor 5.3 140lbs said my turn . One handed he slammed the big guy so fast and hard he hit his head on the floor then said, posture!@@samreilly6602

I’ve heard akido isn’t useless but it needs modern martial arts to even make it competitive in an actual fight against anyone who knows anything.
