He's studied the art 31 years, and that's after he originally got his black belt, so when people says he's no legit they clearly have no understanding about it at all............ just jumping on the Seagal is fat and useless band wagon following people like sheep, when you think about martial arts, Bruce Lee pops straight into everyone's minds but why argument states he wasn't a legit martial artist as he didn't hold any qualifications or belts.

He had a few spots on NYPD BLUE as Reggie Fancy. I wished they had put him in as a regular on that show. He would’ve done great as Andy’s partner after Bobby died.

Mr. White. I do not know you. But I do understand what Seagal meant. He believes a martial artist should be steeped in Buddhist tradition. He thinks that people that aren't in tune with the spiritual side of martial arts, are not martial artists. Unfortunately he himself does not understand the difference between the spirit work of martial arts and self help, and no one can make that horse drink. That said, realize that you present yourself as a movie star first, martial artist second. When you do, you are called an actor first.
Also understand you fired the first shots by going on Vlad's show and saying Seagal is not a martial artist even though you know he spent years training in Japan and getting punches to the head. You still tried to play him so he played you back. Fun fact: He has more followers than you do. More people know who he is than they know you. For better or for worse, he has starred in some of the 80s seminal American martial arts classics. You have not. Sure, you have a role, but you are almost never the lead man. With this in mind, why are you playing games with a 70 something year old man? Sure, we all know he needs to take teacher roles and stop trying to take hero roles, but he has to learn that himself. You? You are already in your 50s with no chance at being that hero martial artist in a true epic. Side kick? Wise, older student? With some makeup, a wise, old, teacher. But the hero's journey? You too are done with those roles. You should both accept it and move on.

You can't get a 10th degree in Taekwondo, only the korean boss of the WTF gets one, for all the others 9 is the highest. Its a special Title, just for the president of the association. A 5th grad is really high though, but can't find was Scott has. But he is a real martial artist.

Michael Jai White is not a martial artist? Uh, someone please tell Steven Seagal that Michael holds black belts in 7 different martial arts disciplines; he's won something like 25+ tournament titles, including the US & North American open titles. If anyone is a martial artist, it's him...
Seagal should play a spoof of the narrative of himself that he tries to live out anyway ...sort of like naked gun type comedy ..it would be a massive hit

Sensei Seagal just showed up at Vladimir Putler's sad parade in Moscow. He looked horrible.
We had a visiting Aikido instructor who when he called you up to demonstrate a technique for the whole class to watch would take the arm locks and wrist locks deeeeep into the red zone and then some. If you were lucky, you came away uninjured but you would be sore for days afterwards and sometimes need a timeout to work off the pain which had been inflicted. However as I was taught from day one, and whenever I trained with our resident instructors Sensei's and black-belt Shodans, or Nidans, when you tapped out, it is a signal that a pain threshold had been reached asking for release, and not a signal to bend the joint even further until something snaps. The essence of Aikido is NOT to injure or inflict pain, but to do enough to turn a disadvantaged situation to your advantage. The locks are designed to HOLD and control an assailant who by attempting to escape from the lock will find it painful to do so. There is no need to turn that into an opportunity to inflict pain as seems to be the case with Mr. Seagal.
We had a self proclaimed Akidio master come into our gym once and asked to demonstrate his style with ours (wrestling) he was on his back in under 10 seconds and our guy kept him pinned for 5 minutes. Akkido only works in demonstrations or against people who don't know how to fight. The second someone with a real background (Boxing, BJJ, Wrestling etc.) and it's all mixed together comes into play, he's dead.
Yeah, yeah. I briefly, had an Akido Master like that. He actually got confused how everyone left to join the Japanese Jujitsu dojo in the same complex.

Growing up i thought Seagal was a badass. As i got older and the internet came along. I quickly realized how much a piece of s that guy really is. Above the Law and Out For Justice are great films imo to this day. What a long and shitty career he had after that. He has nobody to blame, he seems like a genuine asshole

SEAGAL is a joker.
Steven Seagal has a history of hitting stuntmen hard rather than using the illusion of the camera to create the same effect. Mainly because he wanna maintain his no nonsense approach to fight scenes. But both MJW and JCV wouldn't play ball.
Steven has injured a lot of stuntmen however there was one occasion of one stuntman who knocked him down twice after seeing what he was doing. I forget who that stuntman was

His role in On Deadly Ground is hardly deep. Seagal flips a guy through the air who then bashes him to the floor. You’d do well to even spot Michael in the scene. On Deadly Ground was a decent action movie and better than its reputation.

Even if these stories are made up, they still fun to hear, just for laughter purposes. Sure, I like Steven Seagal movies, not all of them but classic ones for sure, but still, these stories sounds too fun to just skip them.
