I like your interaction with Plucky of sailing into Freedom. It’s fun to see a couple friends trying to help each other to keep enjoying the lifestyle that they enjoy.
Thanks James. Am I alone in hoping the beautiful little Ana sticks around for a long time? What spirit.
I must say i really really look forward to your episodes each week James ,
Bit by bit you have grown into one of my favorites channels up there next to Back to basics adventures on RUclips .
Always interesting ,insightful, entertaining and genuine so thank you for taking us with you .
Wow! Thank you so much. Awesome to hear. Much love!
„Back in my days…“ 😂😂😂 best comes very last! Made my day! Thank YOU James!
boat life is always a productive day....
The lovey Ana 🤩
I really like the graphic you put up when you were messing with the spinnaker noting the "tack" and "clew". Nice touch for those of us that are trying to learn the lingo.
Great Vid. Your voice over at the beginning I thought Dirtiest Jobs with Mike Row was on the TV lol.
Bro) you are soo blessed! Anna is fine and sweet. Thanks for sharing all the realistic practical knowledge.Your production value is great as well, keep up the very fine work🌠
I've watched 100s of hours of sailing channels never been on a sail boat but I've seen it all as far as sailing content and I found James triming the sails interesting as I hear that term used alot and was aware it is adjusting the sails but I've never watched it as this showed and it was interesting to understand more in detail.
Somebody nearby please take this dude for a sail he deserves an experience given all his interest!
@ d al Same Same!
Where are you located, D al?
I felt so sorry for you working to fly that asymmetrical kite with a sock. They don't even attach at the right points on the boat. Fly a real kite with a pole and a bag! Then I see the in-mast furling. Oh my, such challenges!
Seriously, I am learning from watching you. I've never flown an asymmetrical. My background is mostly racing with multiple headsails, a twin foil on the forestay, and both heavy and light air spinnakers and bloopers. In fact, we had heavy and light 150's and 180's. I'm learning a bit about cruising in my old age. I love lazy jacks with a stack pack. And, I'm accepting furling headsails - reluctantly. I just don't think they provide optimal power. But, they are easy as long as everything works. I've had some difficulty with in-mast furling on boats in our club. Maybe it's because others don't know how to bring them in. Maybe it's because the sails are a bit worn. I would like to see a sequence about unfurling the main and bringing it in.
I find your channel entertaining and informative. Just the brief comments on using self-tailing winches were well done. I like the way you educate new crew. Thanks, I think, for drawing me into your web. Billy
PS You also have entertaining crew. I found you through Plucky.
Thanks for sharing your life James… you are a great mentor. Your patients is commendable.
Nice to see Stephanie back.
Hey Jamie, good stuff! I found your channel through Plukky… Good mix of extreme minimalist and your own tough cruising life! Very rewarding combination! Thank you for your content. The true meaning of ‘stronger together’.
Ana is GREAT
Looks like a wonderful blast. Sailing, getting rained on ( IT'S SHOWER TIME PEOPLE),working on the boat projects repairing various things that need attention, Eating great meals with no city noise pollution, no light pollution showing beautiful stunning night starry skies, cussing and laughing with friends. wish I was there.
sailing classes. you are a good teacher and couple weekends a month could make you some nice cheddar.
The reward of patience is , wait for it , Patience . Don’t you just love it ...all the very best .
I wrote Sailing to Freedom for Peter and Margarida that first played on episode 265 on Sailing into Freedom Carry on Zingaro!
😉👍 great chapter 🙌✌️🤪, when you come to Cuba Bro, cordial greetings from Havana Cuba 🤪
I really enjoy your channel. You such a patient man. I am also learning to after overhear when a new crew member ask another”whats it like sailing with Connie” and his answer was, “ it was like being in a washing machine with a gorilla”. So I am trying very hard now! Enjoy enjoy!
Thank you for the gift of your videos
Great teaching video. Plucky is a riot.

Plucky!
Bravo James, you are the best! I learn from you every video.
Omg! ANNA! I Love you darling!
Hello , just stepping in , per se , to say hello . I first came across your vlog from watching Plucky so I thought I'd step in , listen to Anna laugh and I even learned something .Be safe .
i give thanks to you James and your insightful thoughts and entertainment you provide for us all. there is two ways to look at life, you can be humble and thankful or you can be entitled and ignorant!! the difference is by changing one letter of one word in your your thought process, the ignorant and entitled is (I've got to get up and sail today) the humble and thankful say ( I get to get up and sail today). I think you see life as a get not a got type of mindset, well done we need more get people on this earth :-)
yes ANA is very beautiful for sure!!
Thanks for the bits of info you put through. I just got a boat on the hard 8.5m 28ft steel rust. 1 months insurance. I heard the comment to girl about not having enough turns on rope means sail can pull & burn yr hands. Other about clet etc... which makes sense for front wind, but i assume you want it tight for side winds - baring sail wear & tear. Theres been good tips on your other shows. Keep them coming. Im trying to get layout of your boat for considering my renovations. Idealy among many things Id like to put twin keel to beach & work on and glass bottom would be cool {many layers of glass out of harms way of course}, but Im going to raise the roof & extend back. This will give more room to get to engine & useful space. And want to be able to capture rain water. Seeing yr lemon days & having to go get water must be a rub. {rub in face}
Great to meet the crew!
Looks like you have a great crew there James. Excellent video and the misic was spot on!
Great to have you back ... missed you guys
“Need to go to the fuel dock to get water… everyone’s gonna get soaked”. Hehe; rain catchers seem like the right idea!!?!!
-don’t mean to armchair QB ya, cause I’m no there and it ain’t my boat. (Nice boat Bud!). but seems like a fun observation to poke at
Awesome content James! Little bit of everything!

Hey mate, another awesome Vid'. Good to see you understand Plucky's Aussie humour (sic)! We will be sailing back to Coffs next week. We have an interview with a popular Aussie LifeStyle TV program when we get back, should be good for a laugh!!
Keep up the excellent work! Cheers, Tex.
Nice to see you sailing again. I was living on front street when you brought your vessel to my friend of a friend's house. Been stuck in Bahamas over a year and leaving this month for DR, but I now have alot of hook ups in Panama. Any pros or cons of either would greatly be appreciated, and balls move to mono 🤙
I really liked both of those countries. I don't think you can do wrong in either. Stay out of Samana though, that place isn't very nice.
geez mate that's one lovely boat, hope you come to Australia with her one day
Love the video. Great to see Stephanie.
@17:35 James is working the "PC Principal" look from Southpark. lol

Very interestin lewrnin the names of sails, ropes, gear qnd monoeuvering
Badass James. Thanks man.
Hey james. Quick question, Whats wrong with your dinghy?? Hasnt sunk in a while lol !!
Spent two rainy seasons in the San Blas and survived the HUGE lightning storms. “Sailcatreality”. Manta 42
Yep it goes when life gives you lemons slice them and put it in a glass with vodka rum and sprite 😜
I almost want to sail with you. But first I don't have a passport. Second, I am 360 lb. I don't fit in an airline seat. Something tells me those three are enough. But even if that wasn't enough you would have to be really gentle with me until I can lose a little bit of weight and gain a little bit of strength and even though I have been on the ocean in motor boats going scuba diving and most of those trips I did not get sick I have gotten sick so you definitely would have to help me through that if that happens. By the way a lot of those boat trips were to Catalina Island. But I have been scuba diving in Costa Rica. But that was 20 years ago and probably 150 lb ago
You need to keep Stephanie.🥰
Keep it up your gonna look like plucky with the wild HAIR LOL
Very true words you have spoken about being Thankful, and patience! It's great to see you educate the crew, show them with kindness and stern when needed for safety! I also love your humor! I have followed your channel since the CAT days, and when on the hard with this boat! I learn something new when you are sailing. Stay safe, fair winds and following seas Brother!
Thank you very much!
What kinda doctor is Fred?
Its all about Anna,,,,
No video on solar aray install?
Coolest sailing channel James! have a great passage to SM!
Anna is crazy beautiful...
And here I thought your main skill was fixing broken boats! Looks like you are even better teaching a crew with zero experience how to sail them!
I hate socks , I guess they are good on a bigger cruising boat but I find for myself simpler is better . Taking down a chute is easy if you know what you are doing .
Good fun! Thank you!
Take good care! Cheers from Guam! 🇬🇺
Damn...Ana, Ana, Ana, come sail with me. Don't own a boat, but who needs one!
James, quick question/recommendation given that you spent some time recently in the ABCs. I'm bringing Nepenthe, my Hylas 46 down to the ABCs around the beginning of July. Was thinking Curacao but not locked in yet. Any recommendations for a marina/slip? Thanks buddy, I respect your opinion.
I'd actually recommend that you visit Bonaire first. The moorings are still $10/day, but they are going up to $45/day... get there and check it out. Curacao Marine is the best Marina in Curacao, they always treated me right, had good people working for them. You can also go on anchor in Spanish Harbor. Many boats there. Those are really your only two options. Shoot me an email and I'll hook you up with some good people. -J
@@thelastpirate Good advice. I had planned on popping over to Bonaire a few times to dive after settling in Curacao with or without the boat. I looked at Curacao Marine but it appeared to be more of a maintenance yard like Peakes Yacht Services in Trinidad. I'm also looking at Seru Boca Marina as an option. Thanks again! Dan
Kimo - Hawaiian for James (Jim) Aloha Nui Loa from Maui North (Cortes Island BC rain coast)

@@thelastpirate AMEN James AMEN
whers Plukky ?
Aye Aye Capitaine!
James how do you find that main sail in mast furler as you sail a lot any time it has jammed up
Personally I'm not a fan. It's a nice luxury but I would prefer slab reefing just due to the sail shape.
You should do some top down views of boat position currant and clew.... simple drawings, videos, maybe a whole video explaining more in depth. This was maybe not quite enough info for a low IQ not yet a sailor to quite fully understand.
⛵⚓⛵💪💯💪
People send you money to sail, you should be thankful.
Who's Peter going to play with now that you've left him?😁
Joe's kinda hot 🔥 🥰
those are NOT catamarans, they are roomarans.
First.
you are too bossy.
UH, how stoned are you dudes, thanksgiving is in October or November.
This was last November.
Hahahaha. good joke.
Don't like the thumbnail..... your level of respect for sea life is questionable at best...
This was taken post crying.
Only one thing...stop with the '9-year-old girlie glasses'! Get some real Captain glasses. White is out! Come on now.
YOUR LAST ONE WAS TOO FRUITY COULDNT WATCH 5 MIN
I always enjoy your videos, and Plucky is a blast. You also provide a lot of nice practical knowledge. However, the gennaker trim lesson this time is not really qualified. For anyone wanting the sail to give max power or be as stable as possible, don’t let it that loose on both sides, and don’t listen to the theory that the sail should “block” the wind. It should definitely not. The wind needs to flow past the sail, mainly horizontally, to give good power. To achieve that, we must choose which edge is the “windward” one, (normally the tack), and adjust the other (normally the clew/sheet) suitably.
It’s also generally not safe to not have the main up. I’ve done the same lots of times, but if something happens, we can move the gennaker into the shade behind the main, where we can depower it and get it down or untangled safely. Without that option, if we get a squall and the sock fails or something else, we’re looking at a very high probability of loosing that sail, or even the rig.
You're a racer. I'm a cruiser. While your advice is correct, it is not suitable for the cruising community, as I keep my sail up for days at a time unattended. If you've got it sheeted in that tight it's going to need constant attention so as to adjust it to very small changes in wind direction, etc.
