Fine crew, keep them safe to have fun. A start button at the engine can help. The same engine in generators has been very reliable. Likely salt damage and poor starter repair.

I went on my uncle’s sailboat on Superior about 60 years ago and I was never so bored in my life. Spent 6 years in the Marine Corps and served on some ships, still boring until we went into combat. That’s always exciting.

Hey guys, I used to have a 43 foot cutter rig sailboat in San Diego bay. The sailing coming out of the bay is wonderful. Used to go straight west all day and drift all night long. No worries just drift. Next day do the same. Stay as long as the food last. About a week or so. I have fond memories of those days. Too old to do it anymore. Have to be a landlubber now. Lol

The starter solenoid is most likely the problem it might be mounted on starter I'd make sure that's checked out.

They would lost on a Motor Yacht, we do things alot different, rope tieing is pretty much the same. Beautiful anchorage.

My car was not available so my main mode of transportation was my Choey Lee it was also powered by a Pirkens 4.108 not quite as new as yours but it also had it’s quirks.

I live in Australia and Captain Cook mapped the east coast of Queensland, Australia, by sailing inside the Great Barrier Reef. He hit some coral and managed to beech the Endeavour for repairs and luckily some coral broke of and plugged the hole otherwise he would have sunk and the whole crew would have perished. The ships carpenter managed to repair the boat and they continued on to Batavia. Luckily there was an opening in the reef so he could sail out as if he missed the gap they would also most likely perished as it was almost impossible to sail back.

Hey James, you got me from Pluckky's vlog. Nice boat and crew. I've cruised the eastern Caribbean twice now and now live in the NC mountains, but my heart is forever dreaming of the western Caribbean. I'm a stickler for a nice tidy ship too. Have you tried pulling the cables off your starter and giving them a good cleaning?
Yes, I've tried cleaning the cables - it's the bendix inside the starter that is the trouble. Thanks, though, for the idea! Get your ass back to the Carib! -J
@@thelastpirate then use that wrench to give the starter a good heavy tap while turning over. Been there done that on my first boat and years past on my 72 VW bus. :)
that starter has a bad bearing or brushes going out or just not getting enough cranking amps for that motor
