THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH LEGO LORD OF THE RINGS

- The lego lord of the rings theme has a major problem, so in this video I delve deep into what the problem is and how it can be solved...
One of my hopes for this video is that members of the lego ambassador network see this video and relay some of the feedback I have had from many lego lord of the rings fans. @jeansversion @DuckBricks @TiagoCatarino @Emmasaurus @JANGBRiCKS @Bricksie @Ashnflash @SolidBrixStudios
There are only a few currently available lego lord of the rings based sets that you can buy, including sets such as Rivendell and 3 brickhaedz sets, includeing characters such as Gandalf, Frodo, Aragorn and Gollum.
Come on lego give us more lego lord of the rings sets !!! @LEGO

I 100% believe that LOTR battlepacks would sell like hotcakes. Shrink all the lines but just a tiny bit, make some room for Middle Earth. I would buy ten Uruk-hai battlepacks
Everyone is asking for small scale cheap sets for lord of the rings but because Lego is able to sell 2 big scale sets at $460 and $500 each respectively and those sell really well and everyone is really excited to buy them why would Lego make small sets when they can keep selling bigger sets for more profit. It sucks they won’t listen to consumer demand and keep selling expensive ass LEGO sets with highly desirable figures
Only ten. I’d get like 20 😂😂 not to mention Rohan and Gondor battle packs
@@Minifigz lol if my kids didn’t eat into my lego budget it would probably be like 40 😂
Battle packs would be the move. Not just Uruk-hai but Gondor soldiers, Haradrim / Easterlings
@@wandy8675309 amen brother I’d buy literally anything
Barad-Dur looks incredible and Rivindell is gorgeous. I might even pickup the recently revealed Gimli and Orlando, I mean, Legolas brickheadz which are the best of the LOTR ones IMO. While a full blown theme revival might be too much, having at least a few mid tier sets seems much needed. It's just odd to have either brickheadz or massive 18+ UCS or MBS style sets at the only options. The Nasgul as a small set would have been a great little set on its own, maybe with a theoden and Eowyn
Yep, i concur. It's time for smaller sized lord of the rings sets outside of brickheadz
Yes! I would buy a whole line of lotr play sets!
I agree. Plus with the trends of the recent Mechs in Marvel and Starwars; they would use that in Lord of the Rings. Make a Treebeard and Quickbeam and maybe a troll or a Balrog.
It would be so easy for LEGO to just introduce LOTR battle packs. We don't even really need full-fledged play-scale sets, just give us 4-5 minifigures in each battle pack with different factions (orcs, Rohan, Gondor, Elves, etc.) and maybe even have a "Fellowship Battle pack" with all 9 members of the fellowship for like $50.
Literally they would print money with that. It’s just too obvious in my opinion
I heard their royalties paid to the copyright holders are quite expensive, so maybe they want to release larger sets to make it worth the expense, but I don't know what their arrangements are. If their current arrangement is the issue, hopefully it will be adapted to match the flexibility of other big themes' price points.
@@christiansteward4327 honestly that could be the case. But that’s never stopped them before
@@Minifigz That's true. Maybe they want to keep minifigures exclusive to larger sets to fuel the incentive to buy them. I don't know how effective that would be as a business strategy, but I do know that minifigure battle packs would sell, so hopefully they'll consider that.
I’m a student and would love to buy these sets but can’t because I need to money for other things. I hope I don’t miss out on them
Cmon Lego! Let’s get those playscale sets!
Yes!!!
When I was a kid I got pirate of the Caribbean sets instead of lord of the rings and I regret that decision
Big Up for King Theoden RIP Bernard Hill :(
Rip 😢
So many possibilities for great sets. They can roll out play scale sets and keep going on the big ones. Minas Tirith would of course be epic but would also love to see the Witch King's lair Minas Morgul! Love the videos, keep em coming!
I’ve been trying to get my hands on one of these figures but there to expensive. I Love Your Vids, and good luck to everyone that’s entered.
My one concern is that Lego will go the route of 18+ dioramas in the style of recent SW sets where you pay $80-$100 yet get a very small scene.
Interesting, but I NEED BATTLEPACJS
Imagine a battlepack for each faction, it would be awesome, the same I want for Lego medieval theme. Battlepacks would be perfect for both themes.
Well im certainly getting that Sanctum building sitting over your right shoulder now, cant stop looking at it. So you have helped Lego make a sale there, that cant hurt your chances for the ambassador programme.
Thanks dude. It’s actually amazing. One of my favourite sets. And shop around red. There are tons of great deals. In uk you can sometimes find it for £135 😃
They could even do a +4 set of Bilbo's birthday party or something
I have no clue why Lego hasn’t released a full theme yet, but I could totally see them doing the large sets as not only a tester but to drive of hype for Lego lotr
Would love to see a Weathertop scene. It's smaller scale and would look awesome
1:19 Funny how you say that with the Avengers Tower in the background 😂😂
People with Larger sets and still want smaller sets, anyone can have an opinion.
We just need a revival of the line, ranging from small battle packs to mid-range playsets
It's time for Lego to give us a sauron we can actually get
I got into lego late but Barud dur is gunna be my first lego LOTR sets.(I collect SW atm) I totally agree and would love some orc battle packs to build an army around the dark fortress
I feel the same way. They're treating it as a collectors item theme because of how high the demand is.
Would really enjoy a complete figure of Theoden!
Now for wrath, now for ruin, and the red dawn.
I would love smaller sets like they had back in 2012. Maybe they could redo a few of the more iconic ones but I would also like to see more like the small Helms Deep set where it was basically a battle pack. It would be sick to see people build giant armies of soldiers
Some great ideas here already (looking at you, army builders).. but I’d love a diorama / smaller vignette series. Bridge of khazad dum, more shire scenes etc
Definitely dude. Amon hen could be good
@@Minifigz ooh or Argonath… but would be tricky to pull off
Really hoping we get some cheaper sets soon. Fingers crossed on that minifig!
King Theoden is such a cool figure. Barad-Dur is definitely a day one purchase for me. I hope they start adding smaller sets but I feel they will just release a big set every year as it's part of the Icons line. Next one hopefully will be Minas Tirith.
Man I love medieval/fantasy sets and it's clear themes like lotr and castle are wanted by the community but for some reason they don't release them
Lets hope we get some playsets in the future!
Let this be the hour when we draw swords together!
I'd absolutely love LOTR Battlepacks and CFMs. Army building orcs etc? Yes please! :D Remakes and updates of older, small sets would be good too.
i'm just thankful that lotr sets are releasing at all
Good luck on your journey to becoming an ambassador!
I imagine Lord of the Rings is the theme that *most* lends itself to larger sets for various reasons.
- The LotR universe is renowned for its vast and epic scale. Recreating iconic locations/scenes would require larger sets to capture the grandeur and detail we are familiar with.
- LotR lacks vehicles. There are boats, dragons, and war elephants, I guess. But the bulk of what is most memorable in LotR is generally geographically isolated, static structures that don't make a lot of sense to put next to each other. Unlike the Star Wars or Pirate themes where there are basically unlimited ways to see multiple sets interacting with one another.
- And yes, as you covered, the fan base is probably one of the most adult of any theme. And selling 1x Rivendale is probably more profitable for Lego than 10x playsets at the end of the day.
I'm sure with how much success this 2nd phase of Lego LotR, that we are likely to see more sets released per year soon. This will likely result in more diversity of price points. Shout out to the other commentator here who mentioned battle packs. A no-brainer that I expect to see soon. Battle packs in particular feel great because they cover all possible budget ranges thanks to being repurchasable.
This Theodén minifigure is very cool.
whoah that rivendell mountain context blew my tiny mind G
That King Theoden minifig looks so cool
The size of sets and pricing has been an on going issue for quite some time, and Lego is well aware of it. It "blew up" with the Lions Knight's Castle (399.99) being followed up by the Medieval Town Square (229.99), and now we have Rivendell (499.99) followed by Barad-Dur (459.99). It isn't just about adults being priced out, but also Kids getting excited at seeing the sets, and having nothing available that Parents can afford, or would want to spend as much money on.
Hi from the Netherlands. Hopefully Lego will bring out some more affordable LOTR sets in the near future. Keep on doing what you do with the channel, like the video’s.
Agree that it’s not ideal for great minifigs to be trapped behind a paywall
Scene sets would be awesome. Like one of the Elrond/Isildur scene at the beginning of Fellowship.
Even if you went mid way between battle packs and the Rivendell set such as a buildable treebeard (more detail than tower of orthanc), lego version of phial of galadrail or sting, or helmets like the MOC mouth of Sauron would still keep the over 18 market happy but be much more affordable than the current sets
I neeed that Theodin
Yes! Yes yes! We need more people making videos about this!
great video, totaly agree! got back in to lego this year and cant afford any of the old once or have to q8 abit before i get the big once
Just think. Barad dur is half the price of orthanc 🙃
I lost my king Theoden a while back so it would be awesome to get that figure!
The LEGO LotR video game made me aware of this franchise when I was young.
More sets for all ages will expose this timeless story to older and younger generations, and both the fans and the LEGO Group will be more the merrier for it.
The fans have lit the beacons and I hope LEGO will answer.
A full wave of LOTR would be amazing especially if it gets the Star Wars treatment with battle packs and all the different price points and sizes.
I concur. I'd love to see mini dioramas like they are doing on Star Wars right now... just with better prices. The sidebuilt of Barad-dur with Frodo and Sam could have been a cool set on its own. One thing I'd hope for would be a series of smaller sets that you can combine to larger ones, similar to how the Avatar sets could be combined or the new Lego Space theme. Maybe have Bag End, the Green Dragon, the Party Grounds and a couple of regular hobbit holes (Bagshot Row with the house of Sam's family for instance) as individual sets that combine to Hobbiton.
I love the big sets, they're great to display, but it would be nice to have some smaller sets to go alongside them, options are great
Love your content bro, keep up the hard work!
Thanks! Will do!
I hope one day we can have some smaller sets.. probably I'll buy barad dur.. but that price, as same as rivendell, is really too high.. even if they are gorgeous..
Great video, thanks!
That Theoden figure is sick
Lotr battle packs would be awesome
totally agreed... my nephew who's 8 called me the other day about the Barad-Dur and I told him honestly that even though it's pretty nice I don't really care because either of us won't have it... I also told him that there is probability that LEGO makes playsets in the future so our time might come... with that I realized one thing, that with this move of making only these behemots in the LotR franchise they practically screw over their customer base = children, because who can buy a 400 dollar LEGO to their child... and also many of the adults who might just like smaller stuff because they don't have the space or money (or both)... I thought about Rivendell for some time, but I would be getting it mainly for the figures (don't have the space to display it properly) and I think that just isn't worth it for that much, after all it's just some plastic... why do this when LEGO SW has been going for 25 years and LEGO Harry Potter for about the same time with some hiatus?
hey buddy the set says 18+, not saying that makes it worth the price...
love lego reviews, keep it up
I love that Theoden!
I would love smaller Lotr Sets! But I think it will take a while till we get there😕
(and I would do everything for Lego Theoden! R.I.P. our King,Bernard Hill)
More sets would be a dream come true
This is one of the ONLY minifigs I’m missing in my LOTR collection. My birthday is June 28th and would be thrilled to win it! 😊
At the moment, the approach they are taking is the best possible approach. For Lego to jump back into the theme with a bunch of play-scale sets would be firing blind and hoping that most of them are well received. However, for them to do what they are doing by releasing these larger scale modular builds first, it allows them to gauge the reactions to the theme returning and to test the waters of what kind of builds and minifigures the fanbase want, so that down the line when the War of the Rohirrim and the Gollum movie release, they would be able to re-introduce playsets at the right time in conjunction with new LOTR films releasing. I would love a full wave of playscale sets right now, but its unfortunately not a feasible or realistic expectation to have at the moment. The return of Lego LOTR is a massive deal, so Lego can't screw it up. For my money, they can take as long as they want with these massive builds. They need to be sure the theme has legs to run for a long time.
We hope Lego Team will change the method of big Lotr sets selling in the future.
With the recent trends of Mech suits; use them for Lord of the Rings! They would be perfect for Ents! Like just give us Treebeard and Quickbeam. Marry and Pippin could be added.
I hope to god this turns into a captain rex situation. I would LOVE to have Sauron in a cheaper set, maybe a Sauron vs Isildur set?
Smaller sized sets would fully revive the theme. Lego is getting fans back with the 18+ sets but it needs to keep them with smaller sets. They would also make the range of fans a lot bigger because not everyone can afford going out and buying almost a thousand dollars of Lego
I definitly think so too. They could literally print money😂
Imagine a Gondor battle pack !
indubitably
Rivendell is sooo great, needs more small scale to go with it
I missed the last Lord of the rings, so love the resurgence of the theme but would love cheaper sets that don’t break the bank or need to save for 12 or more months just for a Lego set.
Hoping for the King Theoden minifigure!
I really just want a ride to raven hill set
Just commenting for that Theoden figure 😮
Perhaps the demand for Rivendell and Barad Dur would be lower if the same minifigures could also be obtained in cheaper sets. I can imagine LEGO has taken this into account in their market research. I'm hoping for a similar situation here though as with the Captain Rex minifigure, that first appeared in a 650$ set and then in a 13$ set one year later.
Agree. I love the UCS style LOTR sets, but it would be so nice to have smaller sets in between the large releases.
Fingers crossed!
An affordable shire set is the dream
I’m fortunate that I’m currently in a position to spent whatever I want on Lego, but I still find it frustrating with the company itself and the secondary market when it comes to the crazy prices! I missed out on the original wave of lotr when it came out and couldn’t afford many Hobbit sets when they came out too. So trying to get some sets which are 3, 5 or 10 times more expensive is crazy! Let alone army building!
I think many of us Tolkien fans would be happy with some battle pack at least! Here’s hoping!
Smaller sets and packs would be great. I’d pick one up once a month, though out the year. The expensive sets, like Barad-dur are more like a once a year purchase for me.
Always loved lotr content on anything. Rivendell came out and i just loved it. Been searching for a discount offer somewhere every day since i just cant affort the €450+ price. If only they made it cheaper or sell it in parts☹️
They sometimes have it on offer on Amazon but you have to get there quick as it never lasts long
My plan is to sell one of my kidneys before June 1st to solve this price problem
Thanks for the video. Totally agree. Would love to see some LOTR battle packs!!!
On a different note. Could you clarify the comment requirement for your giveaway? Do you just comment on any of your videos or on every video where you say to comment?
Yeah just any one of my videos where the giveaway is taking place. Only one comment is necessary to enter 😃
I do know Lan is hard at work trying to make this happen, many Lan RUclipsrs have said they have asked the designers and have talked to Lego about this but Lego has said they currently won’t speak on the matter when pressed.
Totally agree, I love this genre but they are very expensive, so it would be nice to have smaller, cheaper sets like in other genres included in the Lord of the rings.
Basically we had perfect play sets for LotR and Hobbit. But the market for used sets seems to be really crazy
imagine if they did LOtR Star wars style battle packs with four Uruks or Lothlorien elves so you could build an army?
Would be insane 🔥🔥🔥
I want that theoden fig
Would love to have LOTR battlepacks. Nothing would be better than to flesh out the Rivendell set with standard Elven soldiers or even better yet.. the Barad Dur set is huge and has plenty of room for more orc soldiers. Not to mention you know next year will be another massive set - Minas Tirith or Helms Deep is my guess, and more soldiers will definitely be required.
Yes dude. Lego would print money with this
I would love to a chess set of Lord of the Rings theme … could be an army builder!!
PS, I subscribed and commented (would love the Theoden minifigure!! ) :)
Hopefully we get some $10-100 sets soon
I’m not sure why lotr hasn’t had any kid/budget friendly sets but I get the feeling it’s because they simply don’t care. Kids didn’t grow up with the Peter Jackson films like I did.
a couple of battle packs would be the easiest solution, but maybe they prefer otherwise
I can't wait for more sets
¡Quiero esa minifiguras del Rey Theoden! 😊
Love your vids bud
I honestly dont mind these large scale sets. But i think we do need battle packs
I would DIE for lego lotr battlepacks, just imagine like a Rohirrim, Orcs, Uruks or Gondor battlepack! It'd be a dream 🤩
Minas Tirith probably will be micro-scaled architecture style, unless they go minifig scale with 96000 parts.
😂😂
Looking forward to the 1st June 2024
That Theoden figure :)
Stoked for the barad dur set but smaller sets would be ok too.
