- In this video I discuss the latest lego lord of the rings set that has been released that being the successful barad dur and whether it will be enough make lego bring back the lego lord of the ring theme for good...
I also discuss upcoming lord of the rings media that could influence lego into making a new wave of sets, as well as that year I think we are likely going to see a full lego theme revival.

LEGO don't have to produce sets based on new movies, just produce some quality, smaller sets based on the original trilogy. So many great little scenes they can do with new minifigures, plus they should produce a massive Minas Tirith set

I would love a series of LoTR dioramas, think Gandalf vs The Balrog, the blown out wall of Helm’s Deep, Sam and Shelob. There’s so many opportunities for smaller but just as detailed 18+ sets if that’s the direction Lego want to keep going in
They have the spider they can use from the new Harry Potter set I was thinking how easy the Shelob/Frodo set would be I think loads of people would buy the diorama style like what they have been making in the Starwars range for years.

Testing the water with a 500$ set to see if smaller set would work seems so bizarr to me. I think they tested the water so they can do more of these big set like the now did with barad dur, and i think its more likely we will see another big one next year instead of a playscale wave.
Besides, if they really think they need to test if a Lord of the Rings theme would sell they are so out of touch that all hope is lost anyways :D
I mean LotR is one of the most beloved franchises ever, the aftermarket prices of the old sets are insane and people have been very vocal about wanting LotR, or more generally Castle and Fantasy stuff back. Ofcourse a theme revival would sell like crazy.
You are correct! That is exactly what Lego did and a new big set will follow next year!

It's wild to me they're still doing Harry Potter sets even though there hasn't been a mainline HP movie for longer than LOTR. I'm not counting Fantastic Beasts as it's a spinoff and Lego only made 4 sets based on it, and none in 6 years (they were not successful). The demand is massive, the retired LOTR sets are rivaling and even surpassing Star Wars retired sets. If they can bring back Harry Potter, they can bring back LOTR.

I have a whole list of sets ranging in size that I'd love to see... the white tree of Gondor in the palantir makes me think Minas Tirith/Pelannor fields is next since the eye of sauron was in the rivendell set, hinting that it could be the next set.
Besides that, small battlepack style sets seem like a no brainer and would sell like hot cakes.
I can't wait to finish building Barad Dur. Excited to see what's to come for lego LOTR.
There's so many new awesome sets they can still make, brickheadz, buildable figures and so much more
I'm hoping Lego see the success that other franchise themes have had in releasing sets from movies that are 15/20/25 years plus. Jurassic Park and Marvel are two great examples of how fans prefer the "legacy" sets to the more modern ones. Imagine a new Mines of Moria or Helm's Deep with updated parts and building techniques!

I'd want a remake of the black gate but bigger with Aragorn, the Mouth of Sauron, an orc, and a giant orc that (possibly be a big fig) that attacks Aragon.
I hope they put out some smaller sets. I’d like them to release a Smaug dragon again with another Bilbo.
even if they don't do a full theme revival i think some smaller diorama sets would be really cool like they have done for star wars
I agree on minas tirith. If they could do smaller scale ones like they did with the Higwarts Castle and Grounds that would be perfect. They could do a whole line of those. I'm hoping that multiple LOTR properties being our convinces lego to do more sets. They don't need to be sets from those properties.
I really really hope that lord of the rings gets a full revival because I was never able to get all of the original sets however now that I have both barad dür and Rivendell I have the need to buy more new lotr and or hobbit sets, in my opinion it’s unacceptable to just make big expensive sets that the most of the public can’t get due to the crazy high price tag, plus as you stated the way the last two sets sold Lego should realize people love lotr 😂😂haha

I feel like they will do 1 more year of annual 18+ LOTR releases (maybe Minas Tirith) and from then on fully revive the theme.
need battlepacks...maybe even ones for different kind of orcs. Uruk hai, mordor, the northern orcs like in the goblin battle set, gundabad orcs. It will definitely sell. Maybe even as well as star wars sets.
Barad Dur fits has the perfect depth to fit a Billy Bookcase. However, because it narrows the top is empty. Need some smaller sets to put up there. The Brickheadz just don't cut it.

This is a theme that would benefit from remakes - I missed out on Orthanc, but I won't hesitate a second time
A diorama of Isildur and Sauron or Isildur and Elrond in Mount doom would be awesome

Would love to get more affordable sets for my oldest spawn, who is a huge LOTR fan. (I wasn't back into Lego when they came out previously)
would love an ephalent set from the movie - think the midsize AT-AT set but an ephalent roughly 1500 pieces and can fit 10ish minifigs comes with 3. the other 7 you have tog et from somewhere else.
As a huge LOTR and Lego fan they definitely need to make more sets. More big sets as well as smaller sets. But not a remake of Orthanc. There are so many locations that have not been made yet.

Rings of Power is quite good. It gets a lot of hate. I highly suggest giving it a try without trying to hear what others had to say about it. It's different than Peter Jackson, and it's different than Tolkiens' vision. It still feels like Middle Earth but just a different take. If you like that universe you could enjoy it. Definitely had some enjoyable high points in that series. Excited to see what they do in season 2.

I hope they make new Lego Lord of the Rings sets similar to the style of sets from the Lego Star Wars theme like battle- packs and scene dioramas the LOTR theme is so barren just brick heads , they should make a Lego Balrog BigFig, always been a wish of mine. After building the Barad-dûr set I was disappointed that the Frodo and Sam minifigure's didn't come with new torso's or leg art , they should have been more dirty and torn from the journey to mount doom. Lego missed a huge opportunity to make a rare minifigure , they are literally the same minifigures from the Rivendell set just missing the capes.

I think the lack of cheaper sets is actually at least partly due to the big ones being so successful. Why should lego produce cheaper ones if the expensive sell just as well

To be honest, I will say that Lego will not drop any small LOTR sets or battlepacks. The saga has been released 20 years ago, so many people do not remember all scenes from the movies. LOTR movies are now legendary among the industry and culture, so I think that Lego will focus on releasing bigger sets, with more iconic meaning, like Rivendell, Barad Dur and Minas Tirith next year. Releasing another battle packs for example for Gondor and Rohan will not make as high profits as Icons.

licensing dependent they would just be printing money releasing more LOTR sets. They could literally make anything but Rings of Power and be golden.
