Mr. Guru, that is one beautiful nismo. I don't clean my car as well as you do, but I did give my SVT Focus a thorough wash this morning. Perfect overcast and 50° (F) weather set me up for success. I did a thorough prerinse, and gently removed the gravel dust the car had accumulated while I was back home with a soft scrubber like the one you used for the contact wash. I cleaned and reloaded the mitt after each section to remove the dust. Then I rinsed and went over the whole thing again with a soft microfiber and soap. I dried with some oversize microfibers, and finally gave it a wax. I scrubbed the wheels with a dish brush... My standards aren't as high as yours. The water sheets and rolls right off!

Completely understand what you’re saying. I’m quite fond of car cleaning guru and am just offering some pointers just in case they help or trigger an idea that could expand the channel. It’s not criticism at all, I’d love to see an expert do my car, and rip the piss out of how crap it is!
I always rewatch videos of the guru mobile because while not a huge Z car Nismo nut, there's something very satisfying about looking at your pearlescent whip. Love everything from the candy red wheels to the white lettered rubber: just a really sublime machine.
That is one sweet looking Nismo Joe. Love the contrasting wheels and especially love those Bridgestone applique's on the tires. That really adds a lot of "pop" to the look of the vehicle. I would love to do those applique's on my own 370Z. They look fantastic.
I recently had a chemist that works for a car care company tell me that some products such as washes with some wax, etc. can provide a masking layer over the top of the hydrophobic coating/sealant. So you either need to use a wash that doesn't do this or rinse a lot more than usual or use another more hydrophobic topper to bring back the beads. Having another layer on top isn't a bad thing, it just might affect what you see and make you think the sealant isn't working like it used to when in fact it's just hidden :)
Common knowledge. The issue here is that the coating has failed. It wouldn't make sense for Avalon King to make a shampoo that masks their coatings. Carpro made Reset which helps their coatings. His first rinse (before washing) shows that it failed or almost failed. Guru says that it could be from not having the best application environment, which has some merit to it (not enough for it to fail in 6 months). The coating didn't fail from Guru negligence. I am guessing that it was just the poor quality of this highly marketed coating. However, it is important to note that I have seen this coating do much better so he may have gotten a bad batch (even Carpro makes bad batches occasionally).
@@connersmith2445 Despite your condescending introduction to the comment, the first rinse doesn't show it failing, there could have been any range of contaminants still on it. Many companies make both sealants/coatings and a range of shampoo types so unless it's specifically designed as low residue it will still leave some from many. In any case, reduced hydrophobics doesn't mean it's 'failed', it may be starting to degrade but that doesn't mean there's no protection on the paint left. I have never used AK so I have no idea what is typical for it I'm just saying from a video you can't be conclusive and it may have been something other than the coating degrading, or it may be that.

I hit my Avalon coating (on the car for 9mo) with a mineral deposit remover and some iron remover, and it brought it back to life without the need for the boost spray. Now mine never fully looked flat like this, but I definitely could tell it had taken a hit prior to the chemical decontamination I performed.
Nice job Guru. Could have been the shampoo clogging up the coating, but even if its the coating it needs to be said that's the trade off for being easy to use
