    Mr. Guru, that is one beautiful nismo.
    I don't clean my car as well as you do, but I did give my SVT Focus a thorough wash this morning. Perfect overcast and 50° (F) weather set me up for success. I did a thorough prerinse, and gently removed the gravel dust the car had accumulated while I was back home with a soft scrubber like the one you used for the contact wash. I cleaned and reloaded the mitt after each section to remove the dust. Then I rinsed and went over the whole thing again with a soft microfiber and soap. I dried with some oversize microfibers, and finally gave it a wax. I scrubbed the wheels with a dish brush... My standards aren't as high as yours. The water sheets and rolls right off!

      As much as i would love to see this kind of thing to, as well as a Q&A, i believe he's mentioned in the past that he doesn't do too well with social events and doesn't necessarily enjoy meeting new people. he quite likes his own company and finds car cleaning a great way to spend some time by himself knowing that people aren't going to come and bother him. which i totally understand as I'm the same. i also believe that he doesn't like to give out too much information about himself as he doesn't do any of this for any sort of fame. I genuinely suspect that if it wasn't for the fact that it boosts his views and peoples watch time, he probably wouldn't show his face in his videos, but would rather just have music overlapping the footage. but I get what you're saying, he seems a genuinely good bloke so i would be intrigued to learn more. (if youre reading this CCG, i apologise for talking about you, rather than to you in your own video)

    I recently had a chemist that works for a car care company tell me that some products such as washes with some wax, etc. can provide a masking layer over the top of the hydrophobic coating/sealant. So you either need to use a wash that doesn't do this or rinse a lot more than usual or use another more hydrophobic topper to bring back the beads. Having another layer on top isn't a bad thing, it just might affect what you see and make you think the sealant isn't working like it used to when in fact it's just hidden :)

    • @connersmith2445

      Common knowledge. The issue here is that the coating has failed. It wouldn't make sense for Avalon King to make a shampoo that masks their coatings. Carpro made Reset which helps their coatings. His first rinse (before washing) shows that it failed or almost failed. Guru says that it could be from not having the best application environment, which has some merit to it (not enough for it to fail in 6 months). The coating didn't fail from Guru negligence. I am guessing that it was just the poor quality of this highly marketed coating. However, it is important to note that I have seen this coating do much better so he may have gotten a bad batch (even Carpro makes bad batches occasionally).

    • @andrewh9629
      @andrewh9629 3 года назад

      @@connersmith2445 Despite your condescending introduction to the comment, the first rinse doesn't show it failing, there could have been any range of contaminants still on it. Many companies make both sealants/coatings and a range of shampoo types so unless it's specifically designed as low residue it will still leave some from many. In any case, reduced hydrophobics doesn't mean it's 'failed', it may be starting to degrade but that doesn't mean there's no protection on the paint left. I have never used AK so I have no idea what is typical for it I'm just saying from a video you can't be conclusive and it may have been something other than the coating degrading, or it may be that.

  • @DevilDeetz

    I tested the AvalonKing Armorshield IX. Not massively impressed with its longevity. Lasted about 4 months before dying, and that's on a fully prepped, very well maintained and pampered vehicle. Its not all it's cracked up to be and the marketing is better than the product IMO. I did an unboxing video, but didn't bother shooting a follow up as it was that underwhelming.

    Just wondering,, any tips to avoid the rust on the discs, (after washing), depositing itself all over the immaculate diamond cut wheels, the first time you go out,,,
    (even if its a dry sunny day,,,)
    It's so annoying, after making your pride and joy, all clean and shiny, you return home, to see your lovely black and silver wheels, now covered in brown rusty dust..!!

    Pretty poor that the original coating had basically failed by the 6 month mark - seems like a waste of time, money and effort if that's a long as you'll get from it. Plenty of better, easier to apply and cheaper options out there.

      Could have easily been clogged as the car lives outside and gets battered with environmental fallout. Didn’t think ahead enough and get a mineral remover which may have sorted it.

      @@CarCleaningGuru appreciate the response but seems to be a common theme with this coating when tested by others too. Even those in a more controlled environment showing it doesn't have the same 'legs' as some of the competition.

      Clean it off it’s there again a day later 🤷‍♂️. Thankfully there’s only one small light etching on the entire car which isn’t bad considering the continuous bombardment it gets.

    I have my own vehicle coated with Avalon's King IX but that booster wasn't available 2 years ago so I have used Ethos D3FY with it and has been superb too.
