Lagertha, the usurper, the cowardly and honorless murderer of the rightful queen of Kattegat, telling the rightful queens son Ivar that he would be considered an usurper for killing her and claiming his right to the throne as the son of both Ragnar and Aslaug, the rightful king and queen of Kattegat, was likely the dumbest and last mistake that killed any small chance of Ivar even considering a peaceful solution. Lagertha had zero claim to this throne, for she was no longer married to Ragnar by her own choice when he became a king, but she has abandoned logic entirely since season 4 anyway so it is not surprising. The only thing I regret is that Ivar never got his hands on her like he deserved.
Ivar, Hvitserk, Sigurd and Ubbe are all results of Ragnar beeing unfaithfull. This ultimately traumatised Björn, who was already traumatised because he lost his sister. Ivar was left to be eaten by the pigs as a baby, which was normal back then.. but his loving cowardly mother saved him, which was the only reason he later could do so much carnage. All that misery to compensate his not working pecker🤣
@@This_Man90 And Björn is the result of Lagertha being unfaithful. Not that it matters much, people in that era were screwing around with other people all the time, we see several instances of people in relationships inviting others for threesomes, there are orgies, rulers have wifes and concubines, Ubbe and Hvitserk shared a wife, so Lagertha getting all angry about this never made any sense especially considering her own history with Rollo.
Ivar may have been willing to accept peace had Lagertha's stupidity not blatantly showed itself. She has no right to the throne, she divorced Ragnar before he ever took Kategat, and then whored around with other men, then she murdered Aslaug in cold blood. She's nothing more than a whore who uses her marriage to get ahead. Ivar has never used Ragnar as his stepping stone, never claimed that because he's Ragnar's son he deserves anything, no, Ivar did it all himself, he built his great army, he conquered Kategat, and he ultimately became king not because he is Ragnar's son, but because he is Ivar the Boneless, who followed Ragnar's last words to him, "People are going to underestimate you, make them pay for it, be ruthless." Ivar is the only one of Ragnar's sons who ever truly took his father's advice, and in the end, he was the only son who chose to go with his father to England, and that is why Ivar will always be the only true son of Ragnar.
You do realize this is all fiction right. Lagertha never used Ragnar. She left the minute she felt disrespected. I wonder tho, what you think of Aslaug who slept around while Ragnar was with her. Your argument has no valid point & only shows your ignorants for a tyrant. It’s actually Sad because most Ivar fan boys are like you.

She is talking about Ivar's rule being illegitimate because he wasn't the first born son. Besides to your point that you made (even though you misunderstood the use of the word illegitimacy here- context does matter), Ragnar wanted her to stay and remain his wife, unlike Auslug Lagertha was too strong to allow herself to be disrespected. At the end of the day Ragnar regretted his choice and all the sons in the world didn't stop him from wishing that he had done everything differently. Besides it's clear at the end of both of their lives they're together in Valhalla. I think both Ragnar and Lagertha had to die so they could be happy in the afterlife. Ragnar resented how his life turned out and perhaps in the end Lagertha was too stubborn, she probably could have requested that he kill or exile Auslug, and he probably would have done it, if it meant they would be together again.
