Paddy my friend, you were driving through my old neighborhood on 1226! I lived in Tham Lod village of Pang Mapha and every weekend I would get on my Honda Wavy and do a loop on those very roads. So beautiful. So grateful that you are out there capturing footage.

@@petewebb5149 ahh yes that's right! I never did meet John as he was always away when I was there. I miss the village and hope to get back up there for the long weekend coming up
I think road trips on Dreamy are my favorite... but I am a road tripping kinda girl. I love how you described the aroma of the trees and the rain - there is just something about fresh mountain air that is priceless!! (I have talked about bottling the air in Glacier National Park!) And mentioning driving and trying to see the views..... I can not say how many times I have pulled over to the side of the road just to step out of my car and take in the views. Your excitement whilst driving gave me the biggest grins - love it!

I really enjoy your videos but this one brings back so many great memories of riding Northern Thailand a couple of years ago, I live in Darwin Australia and am hoping to come and live in Pai when I can get out of Oz, plan on buying a bike and exploring some more. Paved roads everywhere in Thailand even in far away villages. Those are excellent for travel and driving no matter how type of vehicle you have and can go everywhere

I hired a Honda CB 500 to ride the loop out of Chiangmai.
I have to say one of the most scenic rides I have had in my life surpassed only by the West coast 500.

Biking in northen Thailand is one of my favourite things ever! I tried taking the 1226 a few years ago before its was sealed with some mates. They had had laid down the substrate but not the asphalt on top and it was like marbles (bigger chips than gravel)! One mate fell off straight away, and I then spend 1/2 an hour getting all 4 bikes back down! It looks great now. Love the roads! Thanks for the vicarious adventures. Carr on...!

catching up slowly with your travel. Northern Thailand is, imho, the nicest part of Thailand. I loved living in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, but moved because of the burning season. If not for that, I would still be there now. Living in Hua Hin........its nice, beaches etc.......but I used to live 10 minutes away from stunning scenery like you show in this video. Miss the north very much.........one day........who knows.......maybe return

I grew up on a windy mountain road near Estes Park, Colorado. This reminds me a bit of that.
Awesome video.. What's the 1st song you played? The song really hits home for me.....I'm from East Tennessee. Everytime I'm in Northern Thailand it reminds me of the mountains in East Tennessee and puts Tennessee on my mind. The road from Mae Hong Song to Pai destroyed me a few Xmas holidays ago, as I was hungover and in a taxi for 3 hours. I still have horrific memories of those twists and turns, although one day I'll go back and do it on a bike, and not after a night on the beers.
I've been learning the loop for over 10 years, so I can understand how you got confused over where the hairpin was coming.
After you've done the loop a few times the Nurburgring is pretty much a go-kart track in comparison :)

That was fantastic I'm so jealous, nearly 2 yrs away now, the hills,. give it every thing on the way down and pray to get to the next top. I notice your a little slow to drop a gear gotta keep those regs up. I look for the proper benzene from Cosmo gives a bit more ommff on the big ups. If your staying up there can I suggest the hill tribe festival I'll miss this year in Mae Sai in the first week of December, and nice river town for loy kathong, Lampang , Nan, Phayo . All the best.

I rode Mae Sot to Chiang Mai via Mae Hong Son and Pai in Sept 2020 on my Honda ADV150. Incredible ride. Scooters rule! What a blast! Great fun and scenery. The Microwave Village was the best IMO. I Want to do it again. Chok dee!

The road is not Red Paint, it's a special rubberized material so vehicles won't lose traction, going up or down in these area's.
