For years I had this song in my mind but I didn’t remember the title or the band and for years this song remained a mistery that I was not able to figure out. LYRICS
Talk to me now I'm older
You're friend told you 'cause I told her
    Friday nights have been lonely
Change your plans and then phone me
We could go and get 40's
    Fuck goin' to that party
Oh really, you're folks are away now?
Alright, lets go, you convinced me
12:51 is the time my voice
    Found the words I sought
Is it this stage I want?
The world is shutting out for us
    We were tense for sure
    But we was confident
Kiss me now that I'm older
I won't try to control you
    Friday nights have been lonely
Take it slow but don't warn me
We would go and get 40's
Then wed go to some party
Oh really your folks are away now?

They arent your typical rock band that is jumping and spitting on the stage, they are playing their music and you can just feel the vibe and energy radiating from the music. I was there 20 years ago when the revival started, this amongst others songs were incredible live. Such an incredible band live. So grateful I saw them up close and personal at a very cheap price! I met them too!!

Been revisiting the strokes entire catalogue last few months... the first 2 albums are basically flawless. Their newest album is also incredible... they're relatively young for a band that's been around 21+ years... wish they didn't have such big spans of inactivity would have loved for them to have made another 2 or 3 albums

    Lyrics:
Talk to me now I'm older
Your friend told you 'cause I told her
    Friday nights have been lonely
Change your plans and then phone me
We could go and get 40's
    Fuck goin' to that party
Oh really, your folks are away now?
Alright, let's go, you convinced me
12:51 is the time my voice
    Found the words I sought
Is it this stage I want?
The world is shutting out... for us
    We were tense for sure
    But we was confident
Kiss me now that I'm older
I won't try to control you
    Friday nights have been lonely
Take it slow but don't warn me
We can go and get 40's
Then we'd go to some party
Oh really, your folks are away now?
    Alright, I'm coming
    I'll be right there

first Strokes song I ever heard! I was a teenager when this came out, as young as thirteen I believe, maybe fourteen. Anyway I saw this video on MTV and thought "wow amazing song but the singer is weird and looks like he's on drugs" I was so innocent back then, I assumed the better a band was the more drugs they were on. Thankfully I now know it's not even close to that bad AND they're sober now (good job guys) and also kicking my younger self for not doing any further research on the band and realizing Julian is sexy af

Before I started even listening to them like that, I saw them in a bar. It was around the time this came out. 1st semester of sophomore year of college. My dorms were on 25th St and 1st Ave. We used to hang out in LES. Was at some bar down there and Julian and Albert were at the other end having beers. I knew their radio hits. But my friend was a huge fan and was fanboying out hard. Later found out he was gay so was prolly even more excited than I realized at the time lol... wish I was as big a fan then as I am now eoulda appreciated the moment a little more
