Pathological Lying: Summary
Pathological lying is a habitual tendency to lie compulsively, often without clear motive or benefit. It’s linked to psychological struggles, trauma, or disorders like narcissistic, borderline, or antisocial personality disorders. Neurological factors, such as dysfunction in the prefrontal cortex, may also play a role.

Lies are frequent, exaggerated, and often self-serving or fantastical.
The liar struggles to admit the truth, even when confronted with evidence.
They may lack empathy or remorse, making lying feel automatic.
